Investigation

After the woman left, Mrs. Chae calls for Rex, who enters the room and takes a seat. Mrs. Chae hands him the form.

"I want you to be in charge of the case. Do anything within your capacity to have her son released. I will ensure that the chief judge and the prosecutor are on our side, favoring us. You do the subtle work," she instructs.

Rex goes through the form, and as he does, he adds, "Attorney Lee is back."

Mrs. Chae raises her chin in surprise, asking, "What? He's back? How? When?"

"I am asking myself that same question. I lost today's case to him, and I don't know how he managed to get all the evidence we destroyed," Rex explains.

"He's also back in the court? I'm sure someone is backing him up. I must call the Minister of Justice," Mrs. Chae declares.

Rex leaves the office. After Lee spent all those years in the prison, Rex has become a star attorney, seemingly winning every case.

However, his victories are not a result of his own legal prowess or luck; they are all carefully staged by the Cheabok firm.

Almost all the courts in the city are under their control, with the majority of prosecutors and chief judges being aligned with their interests.

Lee arrives at the victim's family's small apartment. The victim is named Ken. He knocks on the door, and it's answered by the father, a middle-aged man.

"How can I help you?" the man asks.

"I'm an attorney. I heard about your...son, and I'd like to ask some questions," Lee explains.

The father opens the door and allows him to enter. Inside the cramped room, there's the mother and a little boy.

Lee is offered a seat and begins his questioning. "If you don't mind, can you tell me how it happened?"

The old man reluctantly begins, "It was late at night. I got a call from an unknown number, saying it was from the bar where my son worked. The caller informed me that my son had died by suicide."

"Did you believe that?" Lee probes.

"How could I? My son would never commit suicide. Even if he wanted to end his life, it wouldn't be by putting pills in alcohol, as they said. He hated alcohol so much that he was preparing to leave the bar..." the man trails off.

"What about the suspect?" Lee asks.

The mother interjects, "He's not a suspect but is guilty. Because he comes from a prestigious family, they want to cover it up, if not for the community."

Lee offers, "I'm sorry. If you'd like, can I help you in the court, perhaps as a prosecutor?"

The father stares at him and responds, "No, we already have our prosecutor."

"Is he trustworthy?" Lee inquires further.

The Couple stare at each other.

"Yes, he also comes from this community and was Ken's childhood friend," the man claims.

"Okay, I will do my best to help you. Can I get the prosecutor's contact?" Lee asks.

"Sure," the man provides him with the details.

Lee leaves and calls the prosecutor, and they agree to meet at a nearby coffee shop.

"Good day, I'm Prosecutor Chan," he says, introducing himself with a professional demeanor as he extends a firm handshake towards Lee.

Lee reciprocates the gesture with a polite nod and a slight smile, replying, "I'm Lee. Nice to meet you, Prosecutor Chan. Let's cut to the chase, shall we? Have you managed to secure any substantial evidence that supports the theory that the victim was indeed murdered?"

With a serious and determined expression, Prosecutor Chan nods in affirmation.

"Yes, there is an unmistakable mark around the victim's neck, which strongly suggests that he was struggled to death. Furthermore, we have obtained a set of fingerprint impressions from the crime scene," he reveals.

Lee's eyes light up with interest at the mention of the fingerprint evidence. He leans in slightly.

"That's promising news, Prosecutor Chan. Would it be possible for me to take a look at the results of the fingerprint analysis? It could provide crucial insights into this case."

Prosecutor Chan hesitates for a moment before responding, his voice sharp and somehow snapping, "I appreciate your enthusiasm, Lee. But you must understand the sensitivity of this investigation. I'm afraid I can't simply hand over such critical evidence to someone I've just met. In a case like this, we must be cautious. You could be anyone, you could be one of them," he says, his as he abruptly rises from his seat, and head out.

Lee remains seated for some moments.

He then heads out and goes straight to the bar where it happened.

He meets with the manager, who initially refuses to let him enter the crime scene.

"If you allow me, I will give you 1 million dollars," Lee offers.

The manager chuckles, "Huh, do you even have that amount with you?"

"Your details," Lee requests.

The manager provides the information. Lee's phone dings as the payment goes through.

"Who...!" the manager exclaims.

"Can I go now?" Lee asks.

"Yes, you are free," the manager says, clearly enticed by the unexpected financial gain.

After Lee has left, the manager mutters to himself, "He wouldn't even find anything. I'm making money from this dead boy."

Lee arrives at the scene, which is so neatly kept. It's clear that someone has attempted to destroy the evidence.

He thinks to himself, "Use the restore evidence skill."

The system begins the process.

Then It starts appearing, All what they destroyed as evidence.

During the process, he scans around the area and notices a CCTV camera.

He realizes that they would likely have deleted the footage.

A confident smile creeps across his face.

After he has completed his work, he leaves the bar and hails a cab, instructing the driver,

"To Selivia." However, instead of the car moving, the driver smirks and says, "So pity, you won't be able to reach your house," while pointing a gun at Lee.
