After Derick’s father died and his mother went into depression and also feel ill, Derick tried to take care of his mother and keep his emotions in check, especially his anger but everything changed when he came in contact with a chemical created by a brilliant scientist, Dr. Daniel by mistake. The chemical was created to enhance the human body to surpass its limits but it was not approved, it unstable and unpredictable because it reacted with the human anger nerves. Dr. Daniel was not about to leave his creation with Derick so he made it his mission to get it back. And Derick was trying to control his emotions, afraid of becoming a danger to his mother and himself because of the abilities the chemical gave him.

They are hunted for being a human/animal hybrid, they are also blamed for the apocalypse due to the growth of their population months prior to the apocalypse, which builds the hatred for demis.
