The Grimoire - Part 1

The man was indeed astonished and failed to think anything more.

His mind was blank just when he heard the shattering sound of the barrier.

He wanted to deny the fact that such a barrier was broken by a brat such as Rin, but no matter what he would do, he couldn't change the truth.

"Yes! Finally!", he was quite happy about the fact that the barrier broke.

But more than that, he was happy because he wouldn't be required to bang his hand again and again on it.

It had already started to bleed but despite that, he continued to punch it.

Probably each time he punched he thought - 'In the next punch it will definitely break!'

That was good thinking which would lessen the pain and thanks to that he could keep punching till the end.

Now Rin wiped the little amount of blood in his own shirt and then walked slowly towards the book that waited for him ahead.

*gulp*

'Our entire fate is in your hands...'

'If you can really acquire that book then...'

'Then we would no longer be in the state of war...'

'Since we will finally have a ruler whom we can swear our loyalty to!', the man was expecting the joy to get the book.

Though he wasn't sure if Rin could actually acquire it. However, after seeing him break the barrier, his expectations increased and it was natural for him to trust Rin for the moment at least.

Regardless, Rin didn't care if the man trusted him or not. All he wanted was to get a hold of the book, and then come and throw it on the man's face and ask about his parents.

'Tap Tap'

He walked towards the book and soon he was close enough to grab the book just by extending his hand.

"And with this..."

"You have to tell me about my pa-"

And just as he grabbed the book while saying that, his mouth shut on its own.

In fact, it seemed like he had become a statue all of a sudden.

He didn't utter even a single word nor did he move from that place. It seemed as if he was alive and fine physically but mentally something had happened to him.

"Boy!"

"Are you alright!?", the man didn't care about the boy in the first place.

All he cared about was the book and for that very reason, he asked that.

'Tsk, If you are going to die anyway then first grab the book and then die...', the man thought.

Well, he wasn't cruel nor was he merciful. He just stuck to what benefitted him.

"Boy!"

The person started to move towards Rin. He wanted to grab Rin and pull him in order to ask if he were fine since he still hoped that it would be Rin who would be able to claim that book.

However, as soon as the distance between them had decreased to Six meters, a barrier appeared out of however which surrounded Rin.

"Huh? What's the-"

The person ended up touching the barrier while asking that.

'Zzdddd'

He got a nice thundershock from the barrier just when he touched it.

His left arm felt numb since he had used the said arm to touch the barrier.

"What the heck is that!?", the person asked.

He thought that there would have been only one barrier but now he encountered two of them.

The first barrier was strong but didn't have any offensive characteristics, but the barrier which rose right now had the capabilities of stunning by giving off electric shocks!

"Something's off..."

"It's better if I just wait for a see what happens..."

That was a wise decision. One shouldn't put his arm into a hole that is unknown cause who knows what might bite or pop up from it!

A dark aura which was like a mist or cloud surrounded Rin. It was definitely originating from the book.

The book had been on rest upon a small raised platform made up of wood but the moment Rin touched it, it had started to levitate.

Rin was still in contact with the book. It seemed as if nothing was happening to his body, but in his mind, completely unexpected happenings were occurring.

"Wh-"

"What just happened...?"

Everything around Rin was dark. There was not even a single source of light due to which he couldn't see anything.

"It's cold..."

"And suffocating!"

Indeed, in a dark place without knowing anything, one would have a similar feeling but that would be limited to a certain extent.

But what Rin was facing could cross those boundaries and extended to be unlimited!

"Just where am I?"

He kept on asking numerous questions while trying to find the answers for those but it seemed like his thinking was reduced.

Even with that sharp Witt, he wouldn't have been able to figure his location out.

"You..."

Rin was lost in his thoughts and was wondering how he entered here and was trying to find a way to get out when suddenly he heard a strange creepy voice.

'Huh...?'

"Do you think you are worthy enough to inherit this?", the voice asked.

It was quite heavy and the tone was odd too. It sounded to be dominant.

"Inherit...? Inherit what?"

"Don't pretend to be ignorant!"

"You have definitely come here to inherit this Grimoire, haven't you!?", the voice asked.

'...'

"Grimoire...?"

"What's that?"

"..."

"You fool! How dare you try to make fun of my words!?"

"Eh!? What fun? I'm just asking because I don't know what that is!", Rin flinched for a second.

"..."

"Very well, Listen, a Grimoire is an artifact that contains tons of magic spells, tons of divinations, and tons of methods to unseal the principles of Magic world..."

'...'

Rin didn't know what the voice was telling about. It sounded too good to be true.

'Ugh, this doesn't feel like a dream but this can't be real either...'

'This must be a dream...'

'Yes, a dark dream!'

"..."
