Sercy stood unmoving as she listened to Niayd's steady breathing that deepened, a sign that he fell asleep.
She double-checked his consciousness then put a seal on his mind that prevented him from waking up unless she released it.
Ever since the moment she laid her eyes on him, something kept bugging her. There was something different about him that seemed extremely familiar to her, but she could not put her finger on it. He even smelled appealing to her. Stooping in front of him she felt his pulse, then started to examine his face then neck. She sniffed him trying to figure out why he smelled so good to her but she had no idea. A puzzled look overcame her face as she sat next to him deep in thought. Removing the knife from her hair, she used it to prick his finger sniffing at the blood that drained from it.
~His blood is not normal, definitely not human. He is only at the Qi condensation realm in cultivation. Yet his mind was so strong that he resisted being knocked out by Count. What is he?~Sercy sat next to him staring at his face, a confused but curious look in her eyes.
She took his pricked finger then sucked on the blood.
Niyad's breath hitched and Sercy froze in horror. She dropped his finger as if it had burned her then moved away in a flash. "Why do you pretend to sleep?"
"I was asleep, then you kept touching me all over, I imagined it would've been embarrassing for both of us if I were to wake up while you were doing that."
Sercy glared at him, annoyance evident in her eyes. "You vermin, when did I touch you all over? What are you?"
Niyad stared at her, a confused look on his face. "Human?" He said almost as if he were curious too.
"Bullshit."
"I think so too, but that's what my mom said so I just accept it." Niyad said with a light shrug.
"So you also don't know what you are. But you suspect you're not human?"
Niyad paused a bit. His mother had warned him countless times not to give voice to his suspicions.
"Yes. I realized I was different from a very young age. I was stronger, I looked different, I healed quickly. But my mother denied all my claims and told me never to suggest that I'm different in front of anyone because it's never good to be the subject of one's curiosity."
~The truth.~
Sercy nodded in acceptance. Niyad's finger that was pricked had already healed but he rested it in an awkward position as if scornful.
Sercy's eyes drifted to it for a moment then she awkwardly cleared her throat. "Your blood doesn't taste nor smell human so I assure you that you're not."
Niyad nodded in acknowledgment before his eyes turned into orbs.
"Why do you know how human blood tastes?"
"Why are you so brazen to think you can ask me any question you please?"
Niyad paused briefly before replying, "If you wanted to kill me, you would have much sooner."
"I'm known to spontaneously kill people at times. Depending on my mood." Sercy tilted her head to the left doing her best impersonation of Count. A creepy smile tugged at the corner of her lips but then she realized he wouldn't be able to see it because of her veil.
"Fine, I won't ask you anything else," Niyad said. He wasn't scared of her but he wouldn't push his luck.
"How old are you kid?" Sercy asked.
Niyad's lip twitched a bit, as he fought to not show his annoyance. ~You can ask questions but I can't?~
"17."
~A lie~
"You've been honest all along but why did you suddenly decide to lie about your age?"
Niyad's eyes sharpened a bit when she said this.
"You're able to tell if I'm lying?"
"Yes, and I'm fond of honesty, that could be one reason you're not dead yet."
"I'm 15."
Sercy nodded in thought, her eyes examining his body once more. He looks way older than he is and he's way beyond his years in mental maturity.
"Your mother mentioned that you had no talent in cultivation. What are some of the issues you face when trying to cultivate?"
"M-My mother!? You know my mother?"
"Yes, she said you were stupid and that I should please bring you home."
Niyad ignored the obvious insult and nodded profusely as if in relief. "She's alright then! I was worried that she'd try to enter the forest to rescue me. Haha!" He laughed and his body visibly relaxed.
"If you were worried why didn't you ask me to help you find her?"
"As you said before, as a captive I'm not in the place to ask questions. Especially personal favors."
Sercy stared at the boy in front of her. She was a bit confused about his character.
Suddenly remembering Sercy's question Niyad continued. "Oh yes, about cultivation, whenever I try to guide Qi through my veins, I follow the directions in the Qi condensation manuals I've seen, but I can't help feeling that at certain points I'm guiding the Qi out of my veins and into my blood which then causes a serious backlash."
Sercy nodded in response.
The screams that once flooded the Forest died down a few minutes ago which made the silence a bit eerie. Normally a bit of blood would draw beasts from their nests and cause them to run rampant but none were moving about and that made Niyad feel weird. He wanted to ask why but he decided against doing so.
Sercy broke the silence, "Do you know your way back to the village?"
Niyad nodded in response.
-"Go on back, your mother is worried."
"You said you were hired by Blenheim, aren't you coming back to the village as well?"
Sercy turned to face him. "I came here to pay back what Blenheim owed. I'm not done until some heads from the South Kingdom roll."
When she said this, Count appeared next to her. He gave Niyad a mischievous wink over Sercy's shoulder then waved his arm. Space began to twist then both of them disappeared.
Niyad sat there in a daze.
~Teleportation? Doesn't this mean that they're above the Tyrant realm in cultivation level!?
Just who are they?~
When Niyad woke up, his muscles were sore all over. He inspected the empty duvet next to him where his mother had slept the night before. His mother hit him repeatedly while crying after he got home. She then decided he would sleep in her room that way she could stop him from having one of his stupid heroic spells with a knock upside his head. A small smile tugged at his lips when he woke up. He examined his face in the copper mirror that stood in his house before going out. "Mother?" he called out. "Yes, Ny?" "I'm heading out to the river." He announced "Yes, be careful," she called from her little kitchen. Niyad smiled then st
Sercy looked out of place while drinking broth around a small old dining table. She was way too extravagant to be in the house. She had changed her appearance before going to his home and no longer wore her veil. Although her features changed drastically and her seductive figure was also less appealing, she still looked extremely beautiful.Niyad's mother emerged from the kitchen, with a bowl of soup that she placed at the table."Madam benefactor I'm sorry that I don't have anything better to offer right now, this is a boar Niyad had hunted a few weeks ago.""Oh no, this is delicious, because of my cultivation realm I don't normally need to eat. This home-cooked meal brings back memories." Sercy smiled sweetly.Niyad g
Niyad, who was at the river, examined his environment before entering meditation. The moment he closed his eyes Sercy appeared before, her white gown fluttering in the wind. She examined his face then sat in front of him without announcing her arrival. Her face wore a contemplative expression almost as if she were trying to solve a puzzle. After staring at him for a few minutes, she cleared her throat to announce her presence. Niyad's eyes snapped open and he shivered a bit when he made eye contact with Sercy. "You're on time. Sit still, I'm going to trace your meridians and make a diagram that matches how they are laid out in your body. Like mine, your veins are in a different pattern from humans so their cultivation methods would be useless to you. It's surprising that you even made it this far without ki
Sercy sat in her quarters brushing her hair constantly, her eyes were out of focus. She no longer wore her veil and the knife Niyad had given her was on the floor. She had discarded it the moment she entered the room. Almost an hour had passed since she sat there brushing her long silky hair repeatedly as if in a trance. This was something Count hadn't seen her do for Decades. An action only done like this when her mind was clustered or she was upset about something. He started pacing in the room before asking. "You're upset?" -"Yes." "Why?" -"That's what's upsetting me even more." Sercy's tone was flat. "That he was able to mak
After entering the house his mother exited his room looking a bit jittery. "Where did you go all night?" "To train." "Your cultivation level, it's much lower than it was before, and what happened to your clothes, why is there blood? " A worried look was on her face as she started to examine his body. "I'm fine mother, it's just that I had to start from scratch in order to cultivate the method master gave me. So I punctured my dantian to let the Qi leak out. " "You idiot, you could have just guided it out of your body. Wait- Master? I thought." Niyad smiled weakly, then walked away. "That would take too long, I have to reach the
Kiro, ruler of the Southern Kingdom sat on his throne fuming angrily. Five days ago the heads of two thousand soldiers were placed outside the royal palace. It was a direct slap to his face as the king. Someone was able to get into his territory and kill two thousand soldiers then place them directly in front of his palace without alerting anyone. What made him even more upset was that all the soldiers killed were cultivators and one of them was his third son. There was a note stuffed in his mouth that read. 'The Kingdom of Blenheim always pays its debts- The Jade Queen' He knew some form of retaliation would after they trespassed into the Blenheim territory, but he didn't expect it to come so soon or in such fashion. <
~Two of them!! How the hell am I to lose two of them? It's even more impossible to fight!~ He quickly checked the cultivation of the other beast and saw it was at the mid stage of the ivory realm. ~The only way I can survive this is if I kill the weaker beast first then focus all my attention on getting away from the second beast.~ Touching his storage ring, a bow and arrow appeared in his hands. He suddenly turned to face the weaker beast then took aim at it. Coating the arrow with his Ivory realm energy, he pulled the bow back then fired. Not waiting to see the outcome he got up and started sprinting again. The beast howled soundlessly as the arrow pierced it through its neck rupturing the larynx. It fell motionless and the arrow embedded itself in the tree behind it. A slightly surprised look was on Count's face as he watched from a distance. ~This silverback spirit wolf is not from this area, how did he know that its neck was a weakness?~ After creating a large enough distan
The man raised his palm and a flame appeared. Niyad's eyes widened as he struggled trying to free himself, but the much stronger man wasn't phased. He moved the flame towards Niyad's head with the intention of burning him alive. "Halt!" a voice came from above them. The guard who recognized the voice immediately paused looking behind him. There, a man clad in adamantium armor stood above the city walls. The guard shivered a bit before bowing in respect. "General, this imbecile from the Blenheim region was found wandering in our territory." The general's eyes twitched a bit as his attention moved to Niyad. ~Blenheim? ~ "Release hi
