Chapter - 4: My first income

"Here is your guild ID. Take good care of it because once you lose it, a new ID will cost 100 Pero, and only this ID is used while receiving or submitting a request." The guild receptionist elaborated

I don't know about the value of money right now, but I think 100 Pero may be a lot of money.

"Thank you for the ID, I will keep it close to me wherever I go" I replied, and then put my ID in my pocket.

"So can you give me a job for now?" I further conversed.

"Yes, there is a milk delivery job. It came recently. It will give you 50 Pero, you just need to complete the job and get the signature of the request maker and come back right here to me for confirmation. After that, 50 Pero is all yours"

"Okay, thank you for that, I will now go and do this job and come to you with a confirmation letter."

Then the receptionist gave me a piece of paper on which the request and the address of the request owner were written.

"Take this with you and when you complete the request, get the signature of the request owner"

I then take that piece of paper and leave the guild.

The location of the address was outside the town. I asked for directions from the locals and after a while, I arrived at the given address.

There, I saw a farm of wheat fields. Then I saw a house with a small shed behind it. In that shed, I saw a lot of different animals.

Some of the animals looked like cows but were completely different species from cows. The same may be said for other animals too. They have some features identical but not entirely identical.

Then I went inside the house of the given address. There I saw an old man carrying around milk cans that were probably around his size. I think he is the farmer around here and most probably the request owner.

"Sir, I have come up with a request for milk delivery"

The farmer then looked at me and said:

"Ah.... so the guild sent you this time. I hope you will be able to deliver the milk properly and without spilling, otherwise, you should be ready to face the consequences."

"Uh... sir, what consequences?"

"This can of milk contains at least 15 to 16 liters of milk, and at the shop where I am sending you, they will check whether the quantity is correct or not, and if there comes a case where we find out that the quantity is not sufficient, then you have to pay for the spilled quantity of milk"

Then I looked at the milk cans and said

"Okay, I will try my best"

That was easier said than done because there were two milk cans, each of them having around 15 kgs of weight. I have to take them to a shop which is about 4 - 5 km away.

I carried one of the cans on my back and another, I lifted it with my two hands and rolled both my arms onto that milk can tightly as I was afraid it might get spilled.

After that, I walked away to deliver them. As time passes, I realize how hard it is to carry this 30 kg weight as I am younger now and I don't have much muscle on me.

But there is one thing I noticed: I have the same body as my previous self. It is just that it is a brand new version of the previous one and it wanted time to adapt. There is one more thing I noticed, which is that I am not wearing the same clothes as when I was in the previous world. These clothes are different and somewhat normal.

There was a time I had a good physique when I was a bit younger than my previous self in my previous world. I had a tall height, good endurance, and everything a body needed. But there is a saying that even a small crack can break a person apart……

Now, when I don't feel that crack anymore (ref. to ch1), I should aim higher and do something impossible no one had ever dreamed of.

When I was carrying the milk cans, I had to stop by at many locations for rest because my body was not yet adapted to them. That made my progress slow, but I continued after a short rest.

After a while, I reached the given address after 3 hours of walking. I am so hungry that I can eat anything right now, I have almost no energy left. But I have to do this task first so that I can secure today's meal and sleep under a roof. I saw a shop at the address. So, I approached the shop owner and put down the milk cans.

"Sir, Ha.... here is your requested, ha... ha… milk delivery"

"Oh yes, I can see it very well." The shop owner replied, then he took the cans and checked whether the milk was full or not.

"Yes, everything is fine, a job well done." He further added.

"Haaaa…." I let out a deep sigh of relief that I had completed the task.

"So will you sign the paper or do I have to go to the farm?" I further added.

"There is no need for you to go back, I will sign the paper because I am the son of the old man you met at the farm."

"Oh, is that so? Thank you very much, here is the paper."

I handed him the paper. The shop owner then takes out his stamp and pastes it on the paper.

"There you go, show this to the guild and receive your money"

"Thank you very much"

When I received the paper I got a kind of satisfaction, like I had achieved something great in my life, a kind of happiness after completing my first quest.

Then suddenly my exhausted mind started to play its role and all the good vibes faded away. Now I have to submit this letter to the guild and receive money. Well, that is no easy task considering my situation. But let's move forward as I have to do at least this much to secure a living.

After getting a stamp on my request paper from the shop owner, I went towards the Adventurer guild. I was exhausted as I went on my way to the Adventurer guild. But after a while, I arrived at the guild at last. I go to reception to submit my request paper.

"Oh.. so you have completed your request, at last, It took you long enough." Says the receptionist with cat ears I met previously.

"Ah yes, here is the paper with the stamp on it."

"Oh… okay, that will prove your completion, here is your 50 Pero for request completion."

"Thank... thank you very much"

I grab the 50 Pero the receptionist gave me and look at it fascinatingly. It was a 50 Bronze cash I received for the first time in my life and also because it was money made out of 3 hours of hard work and my first income ever.

Before this, in my previous life, I was unemployed and was eating off my parents' money. But when the receptionist handed me the money, I then realized how hard it is to earn money and how easy it is to spend.

After taking my time admiring the money, I left the guild and began searching for the inn the old man Gandalf told me about. I think the name of the inn was *Rosevalley inn*. So I headed in the direction the old man told me.

After some time, I arrived at the given location. It looked like a middle-aged restaurant from the outside with a signboard. I saw a flower painted on that board and below that flower, Rosevalley inn was written.

"I think this is the place, well let's head in..." I muttered and then headed in.

When I stepped inside, I saw a lot of people with different personalities. Some of them were singing and dancing while holding a beer, while some people were just eating their food after a full day of hard work. Some people were just dead drunk and some were causing a scene after getting drunk and some of them were beating the shit out of them.

"I guess this place is... very lively." I thought to myself and moved forward inside the inn. Then I saw a lady in her 40s approaching me.

"Welcome to the Rosevalley inn, what can I help you with, young man, a place to stay, or some food to eat?" The lady asked me.

I think she is the innkeeper here.

"Both, but I want them cheap because I don't have much on me, so please give me affordable options."

"The cheapest bed you can get is for 40 Pero and the cheapest serving will cost 35 Pero and the total is 75 Pero, so give me your money and I will serve you right away."

"75 pero huh?" I replied, thinking about the 50 Pero I made in the 3 hours I spent working my ass off.

I thought I would be able to make savings out of it if I spent my money on something cheap, but I guess the reality is something else.

"Um... mam, I only have 50 pero, if it is alright, you can take this 50 bronze cash and give me some food for it, and then I will do some work for the remaining amount of money for a room to rest."

The innkeeper then looked at my clothes, which were filled with sweat that I got from carrying around the milk can.

"Yeah OK, that will work for me and we are also short on working hands, so first eat up, and get ready to have the dishes stacked up in the kitchen."

" OK, thank you very much for the food" I replied with a sense of relief.

She gave me a tray with a bowl full of vegetable soup and bread with it. I took it to the nearby chair and table and sat on it and then I started eating.

The food was normal, to say the least, but the moment it entered my stomach, I felt a sense of bliss, it was like I had tasted heaven. I think it was because I was so hungry that I didn't even care about the taste anymore.

The food completely faded away my exhaustion and I just consumed it in one go. Then I asked for more servings from the innkeeper. I thought she was going to reject me, but she gave me the food for free.

When I was eating my food, I thought of how exhausted I was that I couldn't even get up, but I have to do some more work after this such that I can get a roof to sleep on at night. But let's think about those things later. For now, I want to enjoy my food.
