Chapter 4 - Black Heart

Chapter 4 – Black heart

Leo stood naked in a shallow stream while slowly taking a bath in the warm gentle water. Multiple bruises and black marks coated his currently matured skin due to the severe beating from Bel and other injuries he sustained from the beast’s attacks or plants.

Some minutes later, Leo returned to the lair far behind a waterfall and began to dress up in a pair of leather clothes. In the middle of his business, Bel whose figure looked humanoid walked into the scenery with a couple of hair-care equipment.

“Leo, I brought this hair equipment for you.”

The past couple of years had been tremendous for the dressing latter as he had to face multiple life-or-death situations that Bel referred to as a training. For the past fifteen years, he also learned to view the kind and caring side of Bel who was too filled with pride to reveal it at first.

“T.. Thank you.” A wide smile appeared on his lips as he ran towards Bel to hug him. Bel, on the other hand, happily returned the hug but pulled back almost immediately.

“I thought your hair was too messy, so I got you these.” Bel pointed the hairbrush and combs of different sizes, dyes, scissors, razor-blade, and many others toward Leo who quickly wore his dress. In a matter of minutes, Leo was all dressed up and quickly grabbed the items.

“I’m not so familiar with all these items. But I still have an idea.” Leo muttered under his breath and picked one of the big-sized combs.

“I could get you a hair specialist if you’re interested...”

“And see them being slaughtered like chickens? If yes, I’m bored of that scenery.”

A loud laugh escaped the mouth of Bel who looked intrigued by the young adult’s words, “Then just try the best you can with the tools and then fling them off. We’ll be challenging the great green Qaste today!”

“Oh! I almost forgot about that. I don’t need to get my hair fixed then, maybe after the fight.” Leo quickly dropped the comb on the ground and ruffled his shoulder-length black that handsomely accommodated hisovergrownn beards and mustache.

“What is the main goal? Kill it?”

“No, you’ll only be allowed to use your illusion ability, and your main goal is to terrify it. Once that is complete, I can handle the monster myself.”

“Oh!” Leo looked confused and confident at the same time mainly due to the fact that a great Qaste would be almost impossible to scare let alone of it being terrified, terrified by a human.

“Dump the confused face and keep the confident one. With your past performance, I know you’re capable.” Bel began to walk out of the lair with a less concerned expression on his face. While Leo looked more scared but tried desperately to hide it.

….

“This is it. Do a good job.” Bel whispered and jumped into one of the huge trees far behind Leo.

Meanwhile, far in front of Leo stood the great green Qaste, a ball-sized plain and green, but mighty creature whose fangs that were half its size penetrated out of his mouth. Leo took a deep breath and immediately closed his eyes, while silently making a visual image of how he wanted the surroundings to be.

When he opened his eyes, the plain land that separated him and the great Qaste transformed into a pool of lava and melting steel that sprouted from some part of the pool. The Qaste narrowed its small black eyes with the sudden change of scenery and revealed a creepy smile that strangely doubled the size of its fangs. And with a very inappropriate move, the creature jumped onto one of the melting steels with a rather careless look.

Leo looked fascinated yet dumbstruck as the Qaste quickly made it's way closer to him with its agile and flexible body that easily jumped from one sprouting steel to the other without any form of complications.

‘This is harder than I thought.’ He wondered with a jaw-drop but immediately composed himself with a new idea.

Leo turned his gaze to a steel the Qaste stood on and gave a freakish smile like everything was alright. He closed his eyes in the next second and imagined all the sprouting steel vastly sinking into the sea of lava, and when his eyes flickered open, the supposed imagination was before his eyes, and the Qaste who was looking a little bit terrified hurried back to his previous standing position.

The instruction from Bel was now officially complete as the Qaste had a terrific look. But Leo did not want to end there as he stared intensively into the eyes of the small creature.

A roar pierced the surrounding a moment later with the Qaste's sudden transformation into a huge, dinosaur-like beast with erect hind limbs and shorter forearms. Almost half of the trees around the creature collapsed to the ground after the transformation and the Qaste suddenly returned to his previous shape. The scenario went on with thecreature'se transformation into the huge beast and back into the small one, and at the same time roaring at the surrounding.

Meanwhile, before the eyes of the Qaste was a dark void that created a slideshow of multiple disasters and unrivaled beasts that tried to attack him from every corner. Unfortunately, this scene could only be seen by the Qaste and Leo.

This special mind trick, or in other words, the advanced illusory skill was referred to as ‘Weird’, where the target would be able to see a scenario of the worst thing he could ever think of. Thankfully, in a space of fifteen years of training from Bel, Leo could boast openly that his abilities and skill were unrivaled.

“Good job! Now stand aside and watch the pro devour its prey.” Bel quickly unveiled himself from his hiding place and transformed into his monstrous form which stood many meters taller than the Qaste, yet not taller than the forest trees.

A cone of hot flames sprayed from his mouth directly toward the crazy Qaste who was an easy target as his skin slowly turned into a structure of ash. The trees also caught on fire as they vastly spread across the forest.

“I think we better get out of here. We both know that a wildfire is more noticeable than a dragon.” Bel muttered and immediately transformed into his humanoid form.
