Chapter 11 - Man behind Genesis

Shigeru Miyamoto was the core of the team of 41 scientists who built the virtual reality system and was the person who led the development of Genesis by establishing the New Era Group.

He had many titles: the creator of the virtual reality system, the person who changed the world, the father of Genesis, the wealthiest man in the nation, one of the most influential figures in the world, and many more.

His countless titles meant that he received the spotlight every time he attended international events, and his influence transcended the American president, making him the world's envy.

Yet in fact, his life wasn't as flashy as discussed in the media. He was the head of Genesis's development team as well as head of the New Era Group, so he slept less than four hours a day on average.

Despite all that, was he unhappy? No, it was something he wanted for himself. "When passion becomes a profession, the World will look small to rule", That was what he said in one of his interviews.

Shigeru Miyamoto was proud and enthusiastic about Satisfy, which had captured the hearts of a billion people.

But that was just what the world knew about him…

"Umm."

Shigeru Miyamoto was woken up by the sound of his phone ringing. He checked the time and saw that it was 3:10 a.m. It had only been an hour since he went to sleep.

The fatigue accumulated due to a month of sleepless work degraded his ability to think.

His voice was rather sharp when he spoke into the phone, "What is it?"

An urgent voice came through the phone.

"What?"

Shigeru immediately woke up. "I'm coming immediately! Be prepared to give me the report as soon as I arrive!"

Then he got dressed and entered the elevator, heading to the underground floor of his house where his car was parked.

Limited edition cars from expensive brands were parked in order by type there. He climbed into a sports car with butterfly-designed doors and drove to the company at full speed.

Shigeru ran into Genesis Operations Office and asked without recovering his breathing, "When did it  happen?"

Gabe Newell, the head of the operations team, slightly bowed to him and adjusted his black glasses. "It happened five minutes ago."

"How interesting!" The excited Shigeru sat down and turned his gaze to the huge monitor on the wall.

The paused video started playing. The main character of the video was a level one young man with brown hair and an attractive build.

Gabe handed two reports to him and stood silently beside him as he watched the video.

"He obtained a chance to change into a legendary class but refused?"

There was amazement in Shigeru's voice as he wondered if there was a fool in the game who would refuse the legendary class.

But that is what actually opened a path for him to become Jigna's successor.

Shigeru read it and rubbed his chin.

"Well, Well, look who it is?"

A smile formed on his stern face!

"In reality, he is a person with outstanding traits. But after being involved in a conflictual situation, he suffered from a lack of self-control, resulting in the lowest level of life."

According to the analysis from the development team's supercomputer 'Thesis', Jigna's successor class was supposed to be a class that would come into view after all the eleven main legendary classes were successfully obtained by players. In other words, it meant that the appearance of the Jigna's successor was supposed to appear at least after one year and ten months, when all the eleven main classes were obtained by players.

But one man broke everyone's expectations and hastened the timing. The number of users who had done their 2nd class change was less than 10, and he was now the sole person with a growth type class that had immeasurable potential in the game.

Shigeru was greatly interested in the user who gave him a great surprise and more than that the name 'Michael Maran' in the report greatly attracted his attention.

However, Gabe didn't think of the man as anything special. "It was merely a product of coincidence and luck that he obtained that class."

"I wonder about that" Shigeru smiled as he said that.

The man named Michael Maran, whose player name was Mike, had only stayed in Blue Leaf village for a day and had managed to gain a title by refusing the class change quest to Legendary class, which made him eligible to get the class 'Jigna's successor'. and had successfully implemented a machine that was judged as a 'Basic hand pump' by the System.

This completed the conditions needed to receive Jigna's successor class, even though he was just a level one player.

The most impressive thing about him was that he was able to do all that even before completing the tutorial.

'There are many ways to get the class after getting that title, but the difficulty increases with the level of the player but since he acquired it being a level one player the difficulty was largely reduced.'

'How long can he go with this class?' he wondered inwardly.

Gabe Newell who was looking at the video silently asked Shigeru, "A Growth type class has appeared two years sooner than expected. Jigna's successor class is already very powerful... So if he has 15 more stat points than others at his level due to the titles, won't the balance be broken? Is it really okay? In the eyes of other users, it might be enough to make him look special."

"What can we do even if it isn't okay? We have a policy of not directly interfering in the game, so think positively. Isn't it a good thing that a new user, instead of a ranker, obtained it? Besides, Jigna's Successor is a class directly related to the Engineer class which couldn't obtain any combat abilities or skills compared to the other legendary classes...Without any comrades his power would mean nothing" Shigeru, who was watching the young man on the monitor, suddenly fell silent.

He shook his head at Gabe Newell's puzzled expression and muttered in a low voice. "No, it isn't a big deal. Moreover, It will help when 'that' time approaches."

Gabe Newell flincheched at the mention of 'that' and lowered his head.

Shigeru shook his head again and placed his hand on his shoulders.

"You have suffered a lot from the late nights of work. I will give you a bonus soon, so please suffer for a bit longer ."

The atmosphere of the employees became excited at the word 'bonus'.

Shigeru smiled and left the office.

'Why all of a sudden?' Only Gabe Newell was silent among the staff. She felt nervous as she thought about Shigeru's words.

Meanwhile, Shigeru's expression changed subtly in the elevator as he muttered the name 'Michael Maran'.
