CHAPTER 1: DIVORCE
The sound of dishes being placed on the glass table filled the dinning room as Christopher, wearing an apron, served food to the three persons seated beside the table. His father in-law; Carlson Sebastian, his mother in-law; Victoria-Helson Sebastian, and finally his wife; Helene. Christopher was a stay-at-home husband, not by his choice, but on the collective decision made by his wife and in-laws. “Helene, Mom, Dad. Dinner's ready. Today I made your favorite. Spaghetti with meatballs and Oregano sauce.” Christopher said with a smile on his face as he set the dishes on the table, one could see the excitement on his face. But neither of the persons seated beside the table spared him a glance. Helene was glued to her phone, chatting with who knows who. His mother in-law took a spoon and scooped some oregano sauce, meanwhile his father in-law kept on reading the newspaper. Victoria tasted the sauce, dropped the spoon on the table and turned to Christopher, “This again? Tell me Chris,
CHAPTER 2: SYSTEM
Everyone looked towards the door as Christopher finally left. At that moment, Victoria immediately rushed towards Helene, “Go go go, Helene, didn't you say Mister Robins of the Thorne family just invited you to Michelin? Don't be late.” She coaxed with a smile as she handed Helene's purse back to her. Helene took the purse with a smile and left the house. Meanwhile, Christopher was on the street, angry at himself and at Helene and her family, “Helene, these past five years have been a waste on you. From now on, your family, the Sebastians have nothing to do with me.”"Sigh" he shook his head in dejection, “I will need to find a job as soon as possible so I can raise up money for Allison's bills. If her treatment stops, there's no telling what will happen after that.” At that moment, the blaring horn of a car sounded so loud, and Christopher jumped to the other side of the road without thinking. A black Mercedes sped by without stopping, it crushed his suitcase and kept on going. Me
CHAPTER 3: ANOTHER SYSTEM USER
Christopher had barely on the sidewalks of 3rd Avenue, when two men walked up to him. He immediately recognized them. They were Zander and Aaron, his two best friends. “Chris, finally chosen to show your face today.” Zander said with a smile, and Aaron immediately chimed in, “What happened? You got tired of Helene's arms around you, that's why you remembered your bros?” Christopher simply smiled, “Guys, there's something I want to tell you.” He immediately saw Zander’s eyes lit up. “Don't tell me, I think I know. Helene’s finally pregnant, right? That's why you're taking us out for lunch. To celebrate.” Aaron's mouth suddenly turned an O shape, “Really? Chris, you're going to be a Dad!?” Christopher couldn't help but shake his head his friends jabbering. “What I wanted to say was, Helene and I got divorced.” And for a moment, neither of his friends said anything, then the usually quiet Aaron spoke up, “Chris? What did you just say?” “I said Helene and I got divorced.” Christoph
CHAPTER 4: SHOWDOWN
“Hey Christopher, don't ignore me. Don't tell me you're just here for the free WiFi.” Helene said with a smirk. “Helene! Watch your language!” Zander said with a raised voice. “What? Did I say something wrong?” She asked with feigned innocence, “He left with nothing. He doesn't even have one hundred dollar on him. After this meal, are you three going to wash dishes to pay for it?” Christopher was about to respond, but at that moment, he got a system notification. «Ding! New Side Quest: Domination Description: Host is being looked down upon. As a future tycoon and wealth master, Host must never take such insults without retaliation. Mission: Shut down Helene Sebastian and Robins Thorne without appearing childish. Reward: Depends on Host’s performance.» Seeing Christopher open and shut his mouth without saying a word to retaliate Helene's statement, a smug look appeared on the young man's face, “Helene, your ex-husband probably just wants to make one last show.” He said as he p
CHAPTER 5: INVITATION
“Impossible! It can't be!” Helene muttered as Christopher and his two friends walked out of the restaurant. “One hundred thousand dollars, and that guy didn't even blink. Who was that guy just now?” Someone murmured. “Not only did he pay his meal, he also paid fifty-six thousand for the next table. And he did it so casually!” Someone added “Must be a low-key rich guy. Probably dressed like that to hide his wealth.” Another chipped in. Hearing all these remarks, Helene couldn't stand it and immediately ran after Christopher.. with Robins right behind her. Meanwhile Zander was beaming ear to ear as he hung his arm on Christopher’s shoulder, “Chris, did you see the look on Helene's face? Worse than eating a mouthful of flies.” He burst into laughter. “And that Robins guy, he was just saying we'd be washing dishes, then the payment went through. Not only that, we even ended up being his benefactor. His face turned green.” Aaron said. Christopher barely heard them, he was foc
CHAPTER 6: NOT WORTHY
Christopher, Zander, and Aaron walked into a luxury car dealership. Seeing the rows of luxury cars around, Zander and Aaron were stupefied. “Holy shit! How much do these cost!?” Zander asked in surprise. “At least two hundred thousand dollars, each.” Aaron replied. Zander and Aaron, like kids who had come to a toy store for the first time, couldn't hide their shock as they kept surveying car after car, letting out sounds like “Woah!” and “Oh my God!” The sales girls couldn't help but look down on them, especially seeing the way they were dressed. One of them couldn't handle it anymore and walked up towards Christopher's group. “Hey! Don't touch this car. We're on break, if you want to look at cars, wait till after 2PM.” Sending the disgust in her tone, Christopher didn't back down, “I want to see it right now.” “Then look, but no touching, and no test drives.” She said, turned around and walked back towards the other sales girls. “Another wannabe rich guy. Look at those guys.
CHAPTER 7: SHOCK
“Sir, this way.. lemme take you through the fast track.” The security guard said with his head bowed low. Christopher simply nodded and followed the guard, but someone rushed over in frantic steps, “Stop! Chris, it's impossible for you to get an ordinary invitation to this banquet, much more a VVIP invitation reserved for only three people. You must have stolen it!” Christopher stared at her with pity in his eyes, he shook his head, but before he could reply Helene continued, “Just admit you stole the invitation to impress me, and I promise you, for the sake of our past, I won't make it hard on you. I'll tell the security to be lenient with you.” At this point, Christopher knew there must be something wrong with this woman's brain.. ‘Surely she's not a retard, is she? If she is, then I must have been blind to have fallen for her.’ he thought. “Think whatever you want.” He turned to the security, “Let's go.” And with that he left the Sebastian family and Robinson raging and in sho
CHAPTER 8: THE CAPITAL
[AVARIA CAPITAL CITY. TWO DAYS LATER]. A white Rolls-Royce Ghost pulled up in front of a tall well designed building. This was the five star hotel, Hotel Grand Royal, one of the five major Hotels in Avaria Capital City. A well dressed chauffeur stepped out of the driver seat and opened the back door, and out steps a young man, his black hair gelled back, skin well toned, his blue Italian suit looking so immaculate one would think it was directly imported by the heavens itself. “Welcome back mister Bond.” The doorman greeted the dazzling young man who only nodded in return and walked in. “Good day Mister Bond, the chef asked me to let you know that the dish you requested could be prepared at your leisure.” The concierge said, and the young man nodded in acknowledgement, heading straight for the VIP elevator.. heading straight for the Presidential villa. The presidential villa opened and the young man stepped in. “Well, in a few hours I’d be able to get the license I need to start
CHAPTER 9: AUCTION & TAKEOUT
[AVARIA AUCTION HOUSE. AVARIA CITY]. A white Rolls-Royce Ghost up in front a two storey high-end building. This was the auction house, and tonight was the auction. “Mister Bond, we've arrived.” His chauffeur said as he opened the door for Christopher. “Go have dinner, but be back here before the auction is over.” Christopher said as he walked towards the entrance of the auction house. “Yes, Mister Bond.” The chauffeur said with a deep bow. “Good evening Sir, and welcome to the Avaria Auction House. How may I help you?” The female receptionist said while flashing a smile that seemed more seductive than professional. “I'm here for the auction, can you get me a room?” Christopher replied. “Do you have any reservation, Sir?” She asked. “No. Can I not get any room without a reservation?” “That's not what I meant Sir, just that almost all the rooms have been reserved in advance. The only free rooms are the top-tiers, and they cost a million dollars…” “I'll take it.” Christopher cu
CHAPTER 10: ROBINS' PLOT
Christopher's mind swirled around his earlier verbal confrontation with Robins. Surely this license was of extreme importance to Robins for him to chase after him to ask for it outside the auction house. Robins had tried outbidding him but as the amount reached sixty million dollars, Robins had backed off.“Perhaps his system has special conditions that must be met before he is rewarded with any cash, otherwise a system user like Robins won't be so broke.” Christopher muttered. What he failed to understand was that his view of money had changed. In the past, a thousand dollars was already more than enough to put a joyful smile on his face.. Now he viewed sixty million as being broke. “What exactly am I going to do with the license anyway? It's not like I'm into crypto or stock trades.” Christopher mused as he patted his breast pocket where the items were kept.“Mister Bond, Sir. It seems we're being followed.” The chauffeur said. Christopher turned and glanced back. Behind them were t
