[AVARIA CAPITAL CITY. TWO DAYS LATER].
A white Rolls-Royce Ghost pulled up in front of a tall well designed building. This was the five star hotel, Hotel Grand Royal, one of the five major Hotels in Avaria Capital City. A well dressed chauffeur stepped out of the driver seat and opened the back door, and out steps a young man, his black hair gelled back, skin well toned, his blue Italian suit looking so immaculate one would think it was directly imported by the heavens itself. “Welcome back mister Bond.” The doorman greeted the dazzling young man who only nodded in return and walked in. “Good day Mister Bond, the chef asked me to let you know that the dish you requested could be prepared at your leisure.” The concierge said, and the young man nodded in acknowledgement, heading straight for the VIP elevator.. heading straight for the Presidential villa. The presidential villa opened and the young man stepped in. “Well, in a few hours I’d be able to get the license I need to start up my own company and fix up everything.. though it'll be hard starting all over again, but with the system, I'd get it done.” This man was Christopher, and as he sat on the plush sofa, the events of the past seven days flashed through his mind, starting from that night he had gone to the banquet. * [TWO NIGHTS AGO]. “Ladies and Gentlemen, please give a round of applause as we welcome the chairwoman of Pamela Pharmaceutical Company, Miss Mellah Cross.. and the second largest shareholder of Pamela Pharmaceutical, Mister Christopher Bonds to the stage.” “WHAT!!??” The entire Sebastian family shouted in undisguised shock. “That's Impossible! He's nothing! He has nothing! You made mistake!” Helene began shouting aloud. She couldn't accept that the poor loser she just divorced is actually the second largest shareholder of a company five times bigger than hers.. and being accompanied by the chairwoman of that same company no less. It just made no sense. “Christopher, you've been cheating on me behind my back with the chairwoman of Pamela Pharmaceutical, no wonder you readily signed that divorce papers this morning, you already had plans to leave me.” Helene was now practically raging. “Security, escort the Sebastian family out of the banquet hall.” Mellah ordered the security guards. Meanwhile Robins slowly walked towards the stage. He stared at Mellah for a while, then turned to Christopher, “I fooled around with your wife, and you retaliated by stealing my fiancee.. smooth man, real smooth. I'd remember this.” He then turned to Mellah, “My father will send a message to yours, I hope you can handle the consequences of your actions.” He then walked out. The rest of the banquet had been uneventful. Christopher on the other hand had been bothered by Robinson's threat. He knew what no one else did, Robinson held a system, and worse, he didn't know what type of system Robinson wielded. “I need strength. Real capital and social strength.” Christopher blurted out as soon as the banquet was over. “You want to get into the business circle?” Mellah asked, overhearing his statement. “Something like that. But I don't want a company with the same standing as my previous one. I need something higher than that, something on the Thorne's family level or even higher.” Christopher said. The seriousness on his face made it clear he wasn't joking. “Well, it's possible.. but expensive. Really expensive. You can't find such license here, you'd have to go to the capital for it. There you'd find license to import international products or even sell your products to international clients.” Mellah said. Christopher nodded. He checked his system panel. «Ding! Host: Christopher Bond Age: 27 Race: Human Physique: 40 (mid) Charisma (65) (high) Social standing: Low WEALTH: Cash: $4,000,000 Assets: Pamela Pharmaceutical (30% ownership). Grox Autos (0.9% ownership).» Christopher still couldn't believe his liquid cash had reached millions. Few hours ago he had $57 to his name. He walked into the banquet with $2.3 million, and after the suit shopping, his cash had rounded up to $4 million. All from cashbacks. At that moment, he made a decision, “I'm going to Avaria City. But I'd need your help.” “Anything, as long as I can do it, I would.” Mellah said with her eyes glittering. Christopher even had to clear his throat to bring her out of whatever it is she was thinking. “Can you loan me ten million. I don't have much liquid cash on me. I promise I'd pay back in five days. I'd be leaving for Avaria City tomorrow.” Christopher said. He made this decision as he knew the unpredictability of the system and also the wealth of Avaria City. He knew his four million could be just peanut money to the elites of Avaria City. He need capital to spend and rake in cashbacks. Mellah smiled sweetly “That's fine, I can do it. And if you can't pay..” that smile changed to an evil villain's grin “You can just marry me.” Christopher immediately coughed out the wine he had just drank. After the banquet. He had visited his sister again, before booking a flight out of Trion City * [AVARIA CITY] As soon as Christopher’s plane landed in the Avaria capital city airport, the first thing Christopher immediately booked a cab and requested to be taken to the top hotel available. He was taken to the Hotel Grand Royal, an Italian hotel. “Excuse me Sir, do you have a reservation?” The doorman had stopped him from going in. “No, but don't worry, am not here to make trouble, just to book a room for couple days.” Christopher said. Seeing the seriousness in Christopher's eyes, the doorman gave him a once over, but still let him inside. “How may I help you Sir?” a male concierge asked him, not even taking Christopher's cheap clothes into account. “I'd like to book your suite for a few days.” The concierge stopped for a few minutes and stared at Christopher for a while. “Sir, we've got the Junior Suite, which cost $1,600 a night. We also have the Signature Suite, which cost $2,800 a night. And we have the Gianni’s Suite, that is the actual Versace suite, which cost $6,000 a night. And finally we have the Presidential Villa, which cost $15,000 a night.” The concierge listed the prices calmly. He had worked as a Hotel concierge for a long time, and he had met all kinds of people. He knew very well that the young man in front of him couldn't be as simple as he looked. “I'll take the Presidential villa. I'll be staying for four days.” Christopher said and brought out his card, “Run it.” The concierge took the card and swiped it. «Ding! Detected Host spending $60,000. 5× cashback activated. Host has been rewarded with $300,000.» Seeing the transaction was successful, he was glad to not have underestimated Christopher. He immediately called over a porter to show Christopher to the Presidential villa. Meanwhile, Christopher was thinking about the auction that'll happen the next night. He was wondering if the money he had with him will be enough. * [AVARIA CAPITAL CITY AIRPORT. PRESENT DAY.] A private plane had just landed, and out came a young man dressed in black tuxedo. He walked straight to the airport door, and outside was a Mercedes limo, and beside it was a burly man. “Welcome to Avaria, Mister Thorne. Your car is ready.” “Take me to the hotel, the auction won't begin till tonight.” Robins Thorne said with an air of superiority. “Yes Mister Thorne.” The burly man opened the back door as Robins stepped in. He had come for the auction because his system had tasked him to buy something from there. And ever since meeting Christopher, the system's rewards had been immensely generous as well as competitive. And he knew for a fact that the reward from this task would place him even higher in wealth.Latest Chapter
CHAPTER 13: I'M SORRY
*Ding! Dong!*This was the second time Christopher had pressed the doorbell. He had gotten the address from the hotel he was staying. And now, he's here to meet Carl's wife face to face.“Coming!” A female voice sounded from inside the apartment. Few seconds later, the door clicked open, and a young pregnant lady stood at the door. She had puffy eyes, which was evidence of intense crying.-sniff- “I'm sorry, who are you?”Christopher took in her appearance, steeling his mind, he decided to lay it all down. “Hello Mrs Henderson. I'm Christopher Bond. I was your husband's…” he took a deep breath, “My condolences. Your husband was assigned as my driver, and I was with him when it all happened. I'm sorry.”For almost thirty seconds, no one spoke, and then, she did the only logical thing Christopher knew any woman would've done in that situation.. she slammed the door in his face.-sigh- “I had an idea it won't be easy.” Christopher muttered to himself before pressing the doorbell button a
CHAPTER 12: MASSIVE COMEBACK
“Hahahahahahaha!” Ethan burst into laughter. He pointed at Christopher while laughing, “Holy Shit!! This has got to be the most fucked up shit I've seen all week! Hahahahaha!”“For a second there I almost believed he had the money to back up his claim given his confidence.” Someone chimed.“I already knew he was all bark and no bite!” Another said. The flirty salesgirl, Susan turned to Eliza who was still standing behind Christopher, and with a smug smile on her face, “Do you regret it now Eliza? Choosing to give this broke loser face instead of Young Master Ethan?.”Meanwhile Christopher is confused as he could not understand why the transaction failed, he knew very well the amount in his account, which should be enough to buy both villas, and he'd even still have enough for any miscellaneous spending if he so wish.“Check your POS machine.” Christopher said.“What? It's broken?” Ethan said with feigned surprise, “Really? I had no idea.” He sighed and shook his head with feigned pity
CHAPTER 11: TRANSACTION FAILED
[TRION CITY AIRPORT. TRION CITY].Robins stepped out of the plane with ten burly men in black suits walking behind him.‘I wonder why the system didn't give me a reward for killing that pauper. I always get rewards for eliminating rivals and opponents.’ Robins thought to himself. ‘Perharps my system is still processing my reward.’ he thought to himself with a smug expression, ‘He’ a fellow system user, I wonder how huge my reward this action will be.. oh I can’t wait!.’ He kept mulling over the matter in his mind as they arrived outside the airport building, and there a beautiful lady was waiting. It was Helene Sebastian.“Robins darling, you're back.” Helene said in a coy tone.Robins forced out a smile, “Yes love, did you miss me?”“You bet I do, I really missed you a lot.” She said and walked up to him, kissing him on the lips. “Come, let's go home, I want to show you new skills I've learnt while you were away.” She said and led him to the limo beside them. What Helene failed to se
CHAPTER 10: ROBINS' PLOT
Christopher's mind swirled around his earlier verbal confrontation with Robins. Surely this license was of extreme importance to Robins for him to chase after him to ask for it outside the auction house. Robins had tried outbidding him but as the amount reached sixty million dollars, Robins had backed off.“Perhaps his system has special conditions that must be met before he is rewarded with any cash, otherwise a system user like Robins won't be so broke.” Christopher muttered. What he failed to understand was that his view of money had changed. In the past, a thousand dollars was already more than enough to put a joyful smile on his face.. Now he viewed sixty million as being broke. “What exactly am I going to do with the license anyway? It's not like I'm into crypto or stock trades.” Christopher mused as he patted his breast pocket where the items were kept.“Mister Bond, Sir. It seems we're being followed.” The chauffeur said. Christopher turned and glanced back. Behind them were t
CHAPTER 9: AUCTION & TAKEOUT
[AVARIA AUCTION HOUSE. AVARIA CITY]. A white Rolls-Royce Ghost up in front a two storey high-end building. This was the auction house, and tonight was the auction. “Mister Bond, we've arrived.” His chauffeur said as he opened the door for Christopher. “Go have dinner, but be back here before the auction is over.” Christopher said as he walked towards the entrance of the auction house. “Yes, Mister Bond.” The chauffeur said with a deep bow. “Good evening Sir, and welcome to the Avaria Auction House. How may I help you?” The female receptionist said while flashing a smile that seemed more seductive than professional. “I'm here for the auction, can you get me a room?” Christopher replied. “Do you have any reservation, Sir?” She asked. “No. Can I not get any room without a reservation?” “That's not what I meant Sir, just that almost all the rooms have been reserved in advance. The only free rooms are the top-tiers, and they cost a million dollars…” “I'll take it.” Christopher cu
