Chapter 8

"Hey!"

A shout broke Cerberus out of his trance. He turned around coming face to face with a handsome man, his chiselled face that would make women fall in love currently bearing a frown showing contempt and disdain as he looked at Cerberus.

"Who the fuck are you?" said the young man

"..."

"Didn't you hear me, I asked who the fuck you are?"

"Isn't it polite to introduce yourself before demanding another person's identity" said Cerberus frowning at the man's rudeness.

The man scoffed, "You don't know who I am! Fine I'll enlighten you. My name is Narsta Blyke."

He then paused looking at Cerberus expecting some kind of reaction from him but all he got was a silent confused gaze.

"Am I supposed to know who you are?"

"What?!" the man was taken aback, his face turning red with rage. He was clearly feeling insulted.

"How dare you?!" he shouted, veins throbbing on his forehead "I am the son of Marquis Blyke from house Blyke of this kingdom"

Now Cerberus understood why he was angry. He still didn't know who Narsta was, but he understood the position of the Marquis. His father had educated him on the power structure of this world, and it was basically a medieval sort of hierarchy with the King standing at the top followed by a Duke  Marquis    Count  Viscount    Baron  Lord and finally Knight. Of course, there were other titles such as an Archduke which was a special title ranked higher than any Duke but basically the mentioned titles were the most known.

Based on this hierarchy a Marquis was considered an incredibly powerful individual who ruled over a large piece of land within a Duchy and could call upon 50000 soldiers if the situation warranted. He was not a man Cerberus wanted to have grievances with.

"Do you finally understood who is standing before you!" said Narsta with his chest puffed outwards with pride. "I am a person born of nobility to the 7th circle mage Harlow Blyke unlike a filthy commoner such as yourself. You should kneel with gratitude at even being allowed to be in my presence."

Cerberus remained silent and unmoving at his remarks.

"Are you deaf? I said kneel!"

"No"

"Huh??"

"What did you say?"

"Are you deaf? "Asked Cerberus looking straight into Narsta's eyes" I said no"

Narsta began to shake in rage, mana gathering withing his body before radiating outwards causing the air to fluctuate as the ground began to tremble.

"How dare you defy the words of a noble! Defying the commands of a noble is punishable by death" He began chant a spell incantation. Mana gathered rapidly around his now outstretched right hand as he continued chanting. Finally, he finished chanting and uttered the word "Fireball"

A magic circle appeared in the air and with a flash a large fireball half his size appeared, its orange flames burning intensely causing Cerberus to start sweating. The fireball launched towards Cerberus evaporating the water in the atmosphere around it wherever it passed.

Of course Cerberus hadn't been simply staring at Narsta without doing anything to defend himself. He had also been chanting forming his own attack which he now unleashed.

"Water sphere"

A magic circle appeared and with a flash, a large ball of water shot towards the fireball.

Boom!!

The water sphere collided with the fireball creating a huge gust of steam and for a moment the two opposing objects were in equilibrium balancing each other out but under the surprise of Narsta, the water sphere suddenly devoured the fireball completely neutralizing it before travelling towards him.

Narsta tried to chant a protection spell, but he was already too late. The water sphere smashed into his body sending him flying across the rooftop before crashing into a wall.

Pu!

He spat out a mouthful of blood before losing consciousness. His chest was slightly caved in and even though the water sphere had been weakened by the fireball, it still packed the power of the compressed mana of a 4th circle mage causing him to shatter a few ribs.

Cerberus debated on whether to call for someone to heal Narsta, but he decided not to. After all, Narsta wasn't in a life-threatening situation and also more importantly…he wasn't worth the trouble.

He was no longer in the mood to observe the night sky and so he decided to head back to his room to sleep.

Ring….Ring…..

Cerberus opened his bright green eyes to a brand-new day. He sat up on his bed yawning as he fumbled with the alarm clock on the table stand next to his bed. He was still sleepy and hence couldn't see clearly which was why it took him a few seconds to locate the screaming alarm clock and turn it off. He checked the time on his watch.

[6.00 am]

This meant that he had an hour left before his deadline to meet Shawn at the food Hall for the tour.

Cerberus took some shower gel and hair conditioner from his backpack and went into the bathroom to take a shower. He hadn't taken a shower when he arrived and hence reaked of sweat from the journey to the academy.

After the shower he put on his academy uniform, which had been delivered to his room, consisting of a white shirt, black pants and one could choose whether to wear a black blazer or a black cape.

"A cape is a bit too much" thought Cerberus as he put on the blazer instead.

After checking himself in the mirror to ensure he wore everything correctly, he left the room leaving behind his backpack on the bed which he made sure to lock so that no one else but him could go through it.

Click!

The room locked behind him as he headed towards the teleportation circle.

"Transfer to ground floor"

Cerberus appeared on the lowest floor of the building and exited it with the map of the academy in his hand, walking toward the direction of the food Hall.

It took him 30 minutes to reach the entrance of the estate where a bunch of students were also seen moving through it probably heading out to have some breakfast just like him. The entrance was connected to both zones of the estate and hence female students could also be seen mixed into the crowd.

No longer needing the map, he folded it into a small enough size before stuffing it into his pocket. He then simply followed the crowd and sure enough he soon caught sight of a large grey building with the sign 'Food Hall' hanging on its front.
