He believed he could elevate his image and prestige among those in the room by challenging someone they wouldn’t dare confront without their army to protect them.

Being on the same power level as Jax, his confidence soared.

Confident in his power as a Tier 2 warrior, and the fact that he had attained the realm ahead of Jax, the man believed he could easily handle the situation.
