The guests began to whisper about Jack not soon playing the piano. This made Audrey even more uneasy. She bit her lip. She wanted to stand up and come forward to pat Jack on the shoulder and ask him to come down, telling him not to push himself.

Not only Audrey, but even Matthew looked nervous. He didn't stop looking at Jack, wanting to come to him too. However, it was obviously impossible because he still had to maintain Jack's identity.
