Chapter 04

"Calm down!" I mindlinked my easily upset Lycan wolf and he calmed his nerves.

"You're hurting yourself Edward, wake up!" He roars before coming to a stop.

Kailah was my last hope and now her revelation proved it to be all a lie.

"What am I going to do now?'' I said as I continuously hit my forehead on the wall beside Kailah's door.

"Edward, I have to get back to the kitchen now. I'm sorry, but I pray you find a way out." Kailah said as she closed the door.

I left there and went to my son.

I sat beside him touching his hair.

"I wish I could take up all the pain you're feeling right now. Why my son, Lord of all the kids you chose, isn't he innocent enough for you?!" I said sorrowfully.

My phone's vibration cuts me out of my emotional thoughts. A number I didn't know was calling.

"Hello! Who's on the line please?" I asked.

"Is this Prince Edward speaking?" He asked.

I haven't been called with my titles in a very long time.

"Yes and who are you?" I asked.

"That introduction will be made when we meet Alpha Edward." The caller said.

"What!?" I was shocked.

"Alpha?"

Me?

"Dad!" I called my father's name.

Well...I sadly called to tell you that your father, The Alpha has passed away and you are to resume the position as the new heir to your father's legacy, no longer as the prince but as the Alpha." he said.

"My father has been dead for two years!?" I asked.l, knowing such information is only told after the alpha didn't resurrect after two years

"Yes Alpha Edward, he passed away two years ago." He replied.

"He was the one who instructed us to tell you about it too, in two years after his death and you must take over his wealth and power once you turn thirty, and now you're almost thirty one… You are more than ready young Alpha." He replied.

"I will not take the power or wealth of an Alpha who treated me like I wasn't his son." As I spoke, Mason began to shake frantically and panicked by yelling loudly for the Sherman doctor.

They came rushing in together with other witches who forced me to go outside.

I sat impatiently waiting for the doctor's arrival.

Every second passing by was really tough as I could hear the machines from his room depreciating in sounds.

"Hello... Hello young Alpha." The person on the phone said.

I didn't want to listen to anything he had to say.

I was too worried for my son.

"I said I don't need any of my father's wealth, don't you get that!" I yelled at the beta in anger.

"Even if it could save your son's life?" He asked calmly.

I paused speechlessly, he wasn't wrong.

I needed money for my son's life but was I going to use my father's money?

"Young Alpha, I have an idea that might benefit both of us, mostly you though." He said.

"But we shall talk about that when I arrive at the Sherman hospital." He said and hung up.

"What plan would he possibly have that would benefit me and him?" I asked myself.

Few minutes later I heard a familiar voice saying;

"How is your son doing Alpha?" The man on the phone earlier said.

"You are the one who called me a few minutes ago right?" I asked.

"Allow me to introduce myself, I'm Marcus, your late father's Beta and now I'm yours, young Alpha." he said with a bow.

"And what idea did you have that could help me?" I asked him calmly.

"You need $300,000 for your son's treatment, if you sign this document agreeing to be your father's next of kin then… Sure! Your son's bill won't be a very issue anymore young Alpha, you have little time left." Marcus said.

Seems this was the only choice I had to save my son and I had to desperately take it.

I signed the papers.

Then the Sherman's came out of my son's room.

"I'm sorry Edward, we tried our best to save him." The doctor said with a sad face.

"What do you mean by you tried your best, how is my son doing?" I asked in tears.

"We lost his spirit." Sherman replied.

I laughed.

I was trying to believe he was just assuming things.

"I have the money now, it's been paid, start his surgery, go and save my son!" I said pushing the Sherman to my son's room.

"I'm sorry Mr. Edward." The Sherman said, walking away from my sight as I stared at my innocent sons corpse.

It was at this point in my life that it hit me.

"It's all my fault! My son had to lose his life because of me… If I only kept the money at the bank or had hidden it properly, maybe you would have still been alive!" I said, blaming myself tearfully.

"Alpha, calm down, don't blame yourself, get up… I will arrange a small burial for your son and then we shall take further steps against anyone responsible for this." Marcus said.

"Awoo!" I mourned in severe pain.

Falling to my son's bedside.

"He was poisoned… He was killed." I cried.

"Don't cry, you are a Lycan!" Marcus roared.

Indeed...I am." I assumed my Alpha Form as I cleared off my tears.

"I will avenge his death with Chaos!"

His memories began flashing through my head.

I held my tears in as they filled my eyes.

"My son just passed away and you're talking about burial really Marcus." I said tearfully.

"I'm sorry, Alpha, but believe me, soaking up won't change anything okay, You must stay strong and be a strong Alpha that you are, like your father was." Marcus replied.

"Don't you dare tell me to be like my father. He was a heartless human being… I despise him." I said as I stood up from the floor and Left the place heading to Celne's parents house.

I was certain that she had to be there.
