Manager Nelson stood tall, despite the atmosphere in the room growing increasingly tense.

"With all due respect, Miss Seraphina," he said, "I cannot allow you to dismiss Mr. Max's contributions so easily."

Seraphina shot Manager Nelson a sharp glare.

"What do you mean?" her voice cold.

Manager Nelson lifted his chin slightly, taking a deep breath.

"Everyone in Morow State knows who’s truly been working behind the scenes.”

“Without Mr. Max, this state wouldn’t be what it is today. Our current GDP? The stability we enjoy? It’s all made possible by Mr. Max’s contributions."

To Manager Nelson, Seraphina’s remarks were a cruel joke.

Everyone in Morow State knew that Max had been working tirelessly behind the scenes, transforming a once-chaotic state into a stable territory with a $20 trillion GDP.

Even the Moont Hotel, the pride of Morow State, stood tall thanks to Max’s unseen support and contributions.

After Manager Nelson countered Seraphina’s claims, the room’s atmosphere shifted drastically.

Governor Darrus's expression hardened instantly, his face revealing a barely concealed fury.

His dark eyes burned with a menacing intensity, and his jaw clenched tightly.

On the other hand, Dominic sat with a cold demeanor, though his eyes betrayed a deep displeasure.

Darrus leaned slightly forward, his fingers tapping the table impatiently.

He cast Manager Nelson a glare that could make anyone tremble.

“Do you think you have the right to speak on such significant matters?”

"You've gone too far. This isn’t your concern!"

Darrus’s voice was heavy and brimming with anger.

Manager Nelson fell silent.

He realized that Max had been exploited and discarded by the Governor and his allies.

Quietly, he felt both disgusted and worried.

If Max were truly ousted, Morow State could descend into chaos once more, and even this hotel might... collapse alongside it.

Suddenly, the door to the room burst open, startling everyone inside.

Lieutenant Governor Avo stormed in, his strides filled with fury.

His gaze immediately locked onto Darrus and Seraphina.

"Who came up with the idea of framing Max with charges of corruption, bribery, and prostitution?"

His voice was loud and commanding, echoing through the room.

Darrus remained silent, but Seraphina stepped forward confidently, though her eyes flickered with nervousness for a moment.

"I suggested it, Mr. Avo. The accusations are legitimate, and we have strong evidence to back them up."

Mr. Avo crossed his arms, raising an eyebrow.

"Alright. Show me the evidence now."

Seraphina froze, her mouth opening slightly as if to respond, but no words came out.

"What? You’ve got nothing to show?"

Mr. Avo sneered as he pointed at Dominic, his gaze filled with contempt.

"This is all just a ploy to take Max down, isn’t it? So this boy here can take his position and claim all the credit for himself? How shameful!"

Seraphina bristled, but she tried to defend herself.

"Mr. Avo, Max is nobody.”

“He’s just an orphan my father gave a chance to. Without us, he would never have gotten this far," she continued.

Mr. Avo stared at her sharply, his tone growing colder.

"If it weren’t for that ‘orphan,’ Morow State would still be mired in poverty and chaos.”

“Not just anyone can replace Max. What you’re doing isn’t just disgraceful—it’s downright foolish!"

He pointed a finger at Darrus, who remained tense and silent.

"Governor Darrus, you should know better!”

“For six years, I’ve served as Lieutenant Governor, and I’ve seen firsthand how Max worked tirelessly to elevate Morow State."

"Max is the one who brought stability, security, and prosperity to this state, while you all sat in your comfortable chairs reaping the benefits!"

Mr. Avo continued, his expression furious.

Mr. Avo paused briefly, memories flashing through his mind.

He vividly recalled the moment when Max stood before the "Lord of the Abyss" at the border.

The tension was palpable then, with the cold wind carrying the scent of blood and destruction.

Max didn’t falter for a second.

With a resolute stance and firm voice, he forced the "Lord of the Abyss" into submission.

That agreement became a shield for Morow State.

As long as Max was in charge, the border remained secure.

Previously, chaos had been a way of life.

The "Lord of the Abyss’s" subordinates frequently launched sudden invasions, destroying cities and villages, burning fields and farms, and instilling mass terror.

Many lives were lost, civilians and soldiers alike-defending the territory with all they had.

But after that meeting, the threats ceased entirely.

Avo recalled with pride how border residents hailed Max as their savior.

To this day, Max’s name remained a heroic legend in the area.

Even now, beyond the border, they believed that Morow State’s safety from the grasp of the "Lord of the Abyss" was thanks to Max’s leadership.

This was undeniable proof of Max’s immense influence!

And yet, these three fools were too reckless to understand what they were doing.

They were truly trying to topple Max, as if the man meant nothing.

Mr. Avo couldn’t hold back.

He closed his eyes and exhaled deeply, despair evident on his face.

He opened his eyes slowly, a sharp glare radiating from his hardened expression.

His voice was deep and authoritative as he finally spoke.

"If Max is replaced," he said firmly, "and the Lord of the Abyss decides to act again, what do you think will happen?”

“Border towns will descend into unimaginable chaos!”

He glanced at Seraphina, then Darrus, and finally Dominic, his gaze piercing through them like a knife.

"There will be nothing left to save!"

“Our soldiers, our people, even our economy—everything will crumble into pieces. Is that what you want?"

Mr. Avo stepped forward, gripping the table tightly, his voice lowering but exuding menace.

"Don’t meddle in things you don’t understand. Max is the reason you all can sit here comfortably today!”

Lysa’s steps came to a halt when two tall, muscular bodyguards blocked her path. Their posture was straight, faces expressionless, like steel walls impossible to break through. Behind them, the same committee member who had stopped her earlier walked closer.“I already told you, Mr. Sayo will not help you. Do not push your luck,” the committee member said.Lysa met his gaze, unflinching. “I want to speak to him directly. Mr. Sayo will want to listen.”She raised her voice and called out, “Mr. Sayo!”From the front row, the middle-aged man turned his head. His eyes were sharp, slightly curious, then he stood and took a few steps forward.“What seems to be the problem?” he asked briefly. The committee member quickly explained, “This woman claims to know you, Sir… and is asking for help regarding her company.”Lysa looked straight into Sayo’s eyes. “Mr. Sayo, you must remember me. Each company had four seats reserved for its representatives. These twenty companies were divided into two tiers: Level One, for businesses whose quality and rating were deemed good in the eyes of the business regulator, and Level Two, for companies with mid-level quality and strong potential to rise in rank. After t

Aurora flinched at Max’s question. She quickly took a breath and answered in a defensive tone, “Well… I do not care about you. I just want to know.”Max did not respond. He simply walked past Aurora, heading toward the stairs with calm, steady steps.Aurora watched his back for a few seconds before deciding to follow him.“So… you are not hurt, right?” she asked again from behind.Max stayed silent.Aurora quickened her pace, now almost walking beside him. “Hey, I am serious. You are fine, right? No gunshot wounds, no hidden injuries?”The questions kept coming until Max finally stopped. He turned around, grabbed Aurora’s hand, and looked at her so closely that their noses almost touched. His sharp gaze locked onto her beautiful eyes without a single blink, making her breath catch for a moment.“Even if I were hurt,” Max said in a low, cold voice, “it would not be your business.”Aurora lifted her chin proudly, though her heart was beating wildly. “Well… but since you are the host her

Hearing Melly’s gentle refusal, Sayo only gave a slight nod, as if accepting her decision.“In that case, I’ll take my leave,” he said briefly.Melly stood up and walked him to the door with calm steps. She said nothing more, her expression still friendly, but clearly leaving no room for further persuasion.Once Sayo got into his black car and the door shut firmly, the smile on his face disappeared. Sayo lowered his head slowly, gripping his teacup a little tighter.“I... I’m sorry, Melly,” he said, his voice soft and slightly trembling.“I’ve been very busy lately. But I haven’t forgotten anyone. When Hando passed away, I sent flowers.”He looked at Melly, trying to reassure her with a sincere gaze. “The sender’s name was mine. I wrote it personally.”Melly stared at Sayo for a moment. Her expression didn’t change, and the silence felt unusually long. Then, she slowly sipped her tea.Sayo gently set his cup down on the table, took a breath, and looked at Melly with a more serious expression.“Actually… I didn’t come here just to catch up, Melly,” he said carefully. “There’s something important I want to talk about.”Melly remained silent, her expression neutral as she looked at Sayo.Sayo continued, his voice sounding like he was carefully choosing each word to be as gentle as possible. “It’s about Max and Sarah.”He looked at Melly, trying to smile.“We used to joke about them

Somewhere Else...A black car slowly stopped in front of a large modern-colonial style house located on the outskirts of Lanua City. These weren’t ordinary security guards — their movements were sharp, their eyes sharp and alert.Sayo gently opened the car door and stepped out. His eyes scanned the area, filled with a mix of surprise and unease. He hadn’t expected the place to be guarded like a top-tier military base. One of the black-clad men approached. He was tall, with a strong posture, and his face betrayed no emotion at all.“What is your business here?” he asked coldly. “Do you have permission from Mr. Max?”Sayo swallowed hard.“I... I came to see Mrs. Melly. Max’s mother. We’re old friends,” he said quietly, a little nervous. The man didn’t respond right away.
