Adrian's Awakening: Wake up in the magical world

Once again, and little by little, Adrian opened his eyes, waking up inside a dark room, which was now illuminated only by the open window facing the back of his bed.

Slowly, he sat up, but suddenly felt a sharp pain seize his back.

“Damn, what happened to me?” he said to himself.

“Did you wake up already? I'm sorry, this happened because of me, I shouldn't have hit you like that,” Ally peeked out from behind the door of his room, looked at Adrian with embarrassment, and slowly, began to enter the room.

“Don't worry. Although I don't remember much of what happened, I think you gave me a good blow because my back hurts a lot,” Adrián confessed, placing a hand on his back, in token of that pain.

“It's just that I threw you against a tree trunk, and that's why you were knocked unconscious. But don't worry, I brought something for you that will calm the pain”, she smiled and even shyly, she approached Adrian's bed, although without asking his permission, she sat down next to him.

Adrian noticed that she was hiding something in her hands because they were hidden behind her back, and he was curious to know what it was.

“What are you hiding there? You're not going to knock me out again like you did just now, are you?”, Adrian asked without looking away from her hands.

“No, I won't. I promise not to do it again, but now, eat this, and you'll see that as soon as you feel its flavor melt in your mouth, immediately, you'll feel better. The pain will disappear, and you will be as good as new”, she commented, taking her hands out of their hiding place, and handing Adrian a candy that looked like a pink marshmallow, but it was a little smaller than a common marshmallow in his world.

Adrian took the candy, he couldn't believe that eating what looked so delicious and so innocent was going to be the antidote he needed to recover from the blow to his back.

“What, you don't believe this will take away your back pain? Go ahead, take it and try it,” Ally insisted.

Without further ado, Adrian took the candy, and ate it. As he chewed, he began to feel a sour taste, then it changed to sweet, and then it became such a bitter taste that it was impossible to bear it, however, Ally demanded that if he wanted to get better, he had to finish letting the flavors disappear in his mouth, otherwise, it would be of no use.

Soon, the flavors disappeared from his mouth, and Adrian, quickly, swallowed all that was left of the marshmallow.

It was true, what Ally said about the candy antidote was true, in the blink of an eye, when all the taste of the marshmallow disappeared, Ally asked Adrian to stand up, and to do stretching exercises, indeed, the pain vanished, otherwise, if it had not been so, while he was doing the stretching, he would not have been able to perform them with total normality because of the pain.

“It's fantastic, I never imagined that a marshmallow could cure such strong pains and in such a delicious way as a backache,” Adrian commented with excitement, having woken up in this new world did not seem to be as horrible as it looked at first.

“How, didn't you know that in our world there are people who study to create cool and unparalleled medicines, just as these are? ”, Ally was puzzled by Adrian's comment, and then, her suspicions began to intensify; since their first encounter in the forest, Ally knew that Adrian was not from this world by the way he had reacted to the giant's attack, because in her world, everyone knew how to defend themselves against them, somehow, and with whatever their extraordinary abilities were, anyone from Ally's world would be able to defend themselves, at least not by killing the giants, but by knocking them out and managing to escape from them.

But Adrian wasn't able to do it, he was frozen in place, and if it hadn't been for Ally showing up just in time to save him, another would have been his end.

“This... I...”, Adrian stammered. He was unsure if he could really trust a girl he had only just met.

“Relax, I've already realized that you're not from this world. You're from another, don't worry about it, if you don't want to tell me now because you don't trust me, that's fine. But let me advise you to go with me tomorrow to the Darkside Specialist Academy, you will need strong training if you want to learn how to survive in this world,” Ally advised and stood up from Adrian's bed, ready to leave.

“I guess I will have to, your suspicions are true, I don't belong in this world, I am an insignificant human who doesn't possess any of those extraordinary abilities you mention. I don't think your academy will ever accept me”, Adrian became sad, if he was not accepted in that so mentioned academy, who knows what would become of him from now on, because Adrian was not sure if there would be a way to return to his real world.

Anyway, why did he want to go back to his real world if there was the possibility of starting a new life in a different world without so much suffering? Because now that he remembered, in this new world, he was no longer sick, he was doing things of people who were not sick at all, his terminal cancer had vanished from his body and God was giving him a new chance to continue living.

“Ya, tomorrow we will see that with the director of the academy, there are many extraordinary abilities in this world that you can learn from and live from, there are not only combat and magic, there are more, so stay calm, and rest, tomorrow at 5:00 in the morning I will come to wake you up so we can have breakfast and leave. Have a good rest, if you need anything, don't hesitate to ask,” Ally said and left Adrian's room.

The boy was left alone again, looking around him, trying to understand the situation that stood in his way so unexpectedly. At first, he had been dying in a hospital room, and now, he had awakened rejuvenated in a new world different from the one he knew.
