Adrian's Awakening: Wake up in the magical world

The students were entering the academy, all in orderly fashion, wearing the same uniform Ally had been wearing that morning, and the same one she had worn the day she and Adrian met. 

The group of the three boys who had confronted and stolen Ally's giant's head trophy were nowhere to be seen yet, Adrian remembered them, and thought that maybe the boys had already arrived at the academy and were at this moment showing off their prize to the teacher Ally had mentioned to him that she didn't want to be late for class that day.

Ally looked nervous about approaching to pass attendance along with the woman stationed at the door, an antique notebook hovered in the air beside her, and a feather moved on top of it each time she called out a name of the student who was entering in line order.

“You're nervous, aren't you?”, Adrian noticed.

Although he didn't want to say it, he was. Ally was afraid to enter the academy, to attend class, because on that previous challenge depended on her future at the academy, and she didn't want to leave it, she wanted to become one of the best specialists that could have existed in the history of her world, and to be one, she had to be one of the best students at the academy, and for that, she had to keep striving until she achieved it.

“Don't worry, if we talk to your teacher, and tell him everything that happened, I'm sure he will understand you. He will give you another chance, and you won't have to see this subject a third time,” Adrian offered.

But Ally refused.

“No, let me solve this problem for me, and let fate decide what's best for me. For now, let's go inside, I'll introduce you to Principal Roxanne, although on the outside she looks like a very rough woman, she has a good heart, she is strict, but she has been the only person who has managed to bring our world forward, for that reason she is here. She is the founder of this academy, and you must first pass a test of extraordinary abilities so she can be sure which program you belong to and so you can start studying here,” said Ally, and together with Adrian, they began to approach the line of students who were about to finish entering the academy.

“What if I don't get into the academy?”, Adrian didn't want to be, but he was nervous about not being admitted to the academy, because otherwise, if that didn't happen, who knows what could happen to him. 

“Don't be nervous, a moment ago we checked that you do belong in this world. You managed to save your own life when you activated your magic the moment you accidentally fell off your skateboard, now, they will have to train you to learn how to control and use your magic in due time. You will be able to study to be an amazing wizard,” she replied.

Adrian could not believe his ears. Now there was no doubt that he had woken up in the right world, that his life in the other world would have been miserable if he had survived his terminal illness. In this world, it seemed, things would go better. 

“Good morning, boys. Ally Johnson, report to Professor Nichols' office, the professor will give you instructions so you can retake for the third and final time this test you failed again. Don't disappoint him, and hurry up, the class won't be long in starting, and you know the professor doesn't like to waste valuable teaching time on other matters.”

“Yes, headmistress. I'll report to him right away,” Ally said with resignation to hear the worst in her meeting with the professor.

In the meantime, there were no more students left outside pending to enter the academy, then, the flying pen stopped taking notes on the flying notebook, and both of them went to the hands of the director when she made a slight snapping of fingers in their direction, that was the call they heeded to return to their owner. 

Headmistress Roxanne grabbed her belongings, and her expressionless gaze remained fixed on Adrian. The boy in front of her looked shy, and he felt uncomfortable from her gaze because he wasn't sure he knew what she thought of him at that moment.

“What did you say your name was, boy?” she asked with disinterest.

“Adrian, ma'am,” he replied, trying to hide his shyness.

“What's your last name?” she asked again, her eyes remaining fixed on him. 

That had been a good question, but the answer he didn't know.

He remembered nothing about his past life in his other world, he only remembered clearly the painful scene in the hospital before his death, and that his name was Adrian. 

“Ma'am... I... The truth is that I don't remember what my last name is. All I know is that my name is Adrian and that I'm 12 years old, that I woke up here after having a bad experience, and that's when I met Ally. She was the one who insisted that I should come today to talk to you and enroll me as one of your students in this new school year,” Adrian confessed.

The director was silent for a few minutes, she was pensive, for Adrian's energy was giving her enough signals to know in which program she should enroll him to start his classes.

“Very well, boy. Come with me, I'll give you a tour of the academy, then I'll give you your class schedule, and your uniform,” The director was speaking as they made their way inside the academy. The doors closed on their own when there was no one else who needed to enter. “Tell me, boy, who do you live with? Who are your family?”

But Adrian was very distracted, looking around in amazement, the academy was a dark place, designed in rocks, and a bit humid, Adrian guessed it was so due to the fact that he kept levitating in the air.

There are very few green areas in every corner of the academy, the ground was mostly hard and slippery stones of which you had to be careful to step on well or else you would end up falling and giving yourself a bad blow. 

“Boy...”, the headmistress spoke to him again, trying to get his attention, she understood that he was in awe of the architectural beauty that the academy has been built with, but what she could the least stand was the distraction for when they were talking about such important topics as the family lineage was.

“Excuse me, headmistress. I got a little distracted. The academy is beautiful,” he commented, innocently ignoring the headmistress' questions.

The director sighed, trying to remain calm to control her patience with the new child. 

“Child, please, I want you to answer: where do you come from?”, the director insisted with a question that for her was much easier to answer than the others.

Unfortunately, and for Adrian, it was even harder to remember which world he came from.

Upon waking up in this world, Adrian had completely lost his memory in some circumstances of his life.
