His words sent shockwaves down Thomas's spine, and a cold chill down his spine.

He was livid as he turned towards Mr. Japheth shooting such a hard slap at him with so much force that almost made him stumble

“You fool. Do you realize what you have done? Making the young masterwork as a cleaner?"

Thomas shivered with fear, knowing that the Maxwell family could get them killed and no one would find out about it.

Turning towards Eddie, his eyes bulged out from his head with fear. Soon, he fell to the floor and shuddered.

Meanwhile, even though Mr. Japheth's face was swollen, the shock had washed the pain off his mind.

"Young master. But I don't understand. The young master isn't here already. There are no cars and nothing." He chimed.

"Guess you will do a great job courting that." Eddie returned nonchalantly, dropping the mop to the floor.

Thomas snorted with anger seeing that Mr. Japheth still wasn't getting the message.

"I'm such a fool for employing such a fool." He growled under his breath.

"That's young master Eddie short for Edward standing before you fool."

"If you love death so much, not everyone does." He snorted but Mr. Japheth could hardly hear the proceeding words afterwards.

His eyes bulged and his feet could hardly stand their ground on the floor.

"Young Master Edward?" His lungs were snapped out of the air, knowing the trouble that he had gotten himself into.

He melted to his knees right before Thomas, his heart making a throbbing sound.

"Young master Edward. I didn't know it was you. I would have given you a grand welcome. Please forgive me, Young Master."

"Stop yakking fool. Aster everything that you have done. Do you think that you have the right not to be punished?

Pray you are still alive after this encounter." He snorted, getting extremely irritated.

Turning back to Eddie, his face was clouded with a pleading expression as he continued pleading.

"Young master. Please temper justice with mercy and lighten our punishment." He was honestly pleased.

There was an emotionless expression on his face as he walked around slowly, making their heartthrob even harder.

"Thomas. Stand." Thomas's heart almost flew out from his chest as he rose swiftly from the point where he was standing.

"Yes sir." His hands were shaking uncontrollably.

"You have done nothing wrong." His face was relaxed and he smiled.

"I'm sure I am late for the meeting already. We shouldn't delay anymore." He noted.

Thomas was shocked to his bones as he had always imagined his young master to be fierce and difficult just like his father.

But it seemed as though they had different blood running through their vines.

His breath relaxed but only a little bit, knowing that he still had to be extremely careful around the young master.

A sound came from below, reminding him that someone was still kneeling there. His face twitched and Thomas noticed it immediately.

"Don't worry young master. I am going to make sure that he is severely punished." He assured Eddie but he waved his hands, wanting to deal with the situation himself.

"You made mention of something relating to a promotion earlier. Why don't I offer something close to that." He resorted and Mr. Japheth was shocked by the words.

"Thanks, young master. I am always enthusiastic and wouldn't have done that if I had known sir." He could not believe his ears.

Thomas was equally confused but he didn't dare to say a word.

'Was his young master that nice?'

'Or this was the legendary illustration of paying evil with good.'

With the emotionless expression still on his face, Eddie moved forward slowly, took the mop up from the floor, and handed it over to him.

"You should start your work immediately. I want to see that enthusiasm of yours.

He was stunned as he never imagined all his life being a cleaner.

"You have enjoyed enough privilege already. You should feel the pain that people go through daily, then you will be able to treat them better." Eddie frowned.

He took the mop and started working, his face laced with so much pain and confusion.

Eddie walked behind Thomas as he was led to the meeting room. After many introductions, the meeting ended.

"I have prepared your place young master." He said but Eddie had other plans in mind.

"I want you to take over the company's management as the assistant manager." He said.

His eyes bulged hard as he tried hard not to believe what he just heard.

'Was this another prank.' His heart throbbed but from the looks on Eddie's face, he didn't seem like was joking.

He fell to his knees, his face washed up with fear.

"Please tell me where I have wronged young master." He shuddered.

Eddie smiled. Adjusting to such a powerful lifestyle wasn't going to be easy for him.

Walking over to Thomas, he helped him up and went forward to explain.

"You have done nothing wrong. I have an important assignment to carry out. One that I have vowed not to rest until I have accomplished."

He was still stunned and could not make out words to express his sudden shock.

"Tomorrow will be a remarkable day in my married life." He paused swiftly.

"That's all that there is to know."

With a slight bow, Thomas said.

"I am going to make sure that I do my best as a young master." His voice was laced with so much gratitude.

While they continued to walk, there was a strange sign on the street that made the both of them hit with a sudden pause.

Thomas's eyes farrowed but the man in the picture seemed a little bit blurred.

"Young master?" He called Eddie's attention to it.

Walking over to it swiftly, Eddie recognized that he was the one in the picture with a price tag. "WANTED." And a monetary reward of one million dollars for anyone that could find him.

He frowned deeply pulling off the paper.

The sun was setting behind thick clouds when Eddie drove into the industrial district. The sleek glass towers of downtown gave way to old concrete buildings and empty warehouses. He parked his car two blocks away and walked the rest of the way, dressed in jeans and a plain jacket, nothing that would draw attention.Calix Therapeutics. The name was barely visible on the faded sign outside the building. According to Thomas's research, the company had gone bankrupt eight months ago, right after John Mark's acquisition. But the building was still standing, still locked up tight.Eddie pulled out an old ID badge - one of dozens Thomas had found in a data breach from the company's final weeks. Most companies would have deactivated these immediately, but in the chaos of bankruptcy, small details got forgotten. The badge reader beeped green, and Eddie slipped inside. The facility was mostly stripped clean. Equipment gone, files erased, anything valuable removed. But Eddie had learned that peo

The next morning, Eddie woke to the sound of his phone buzzing with news alerts. The city was stirring, and beneath the surface, things were already shifting. The roundtable had been kept quiet in the mainstream media, but people who mattered were talking. And now his name was attached to whatever was coming next.He made coffee and sat down at his computer, pulling up the footage from last night. The micro-camera in his cufflink had caught everything - every word, every glance, every nervous twitch. He'd learned a long time ago that the most important conversations happened in the spaces between words.Eddie replayed Dante's dismissive remarks, watching how the man's eyes never quite matched his concerned tone. Then he focused on the other faces around the table. Most had reacted predictably when Sophia mentioned Blackworm - shock, fear, disbelief. But there was one man who had caught his attention.Dr. John Mark, pharmaceutical magnate from Southeast Asia. When Sophia had said the w

Eddie stood in his living room, holding Sophia's letter, the city's quiet hum drifting through his windows. He read the note again, her elegant handwriting sharp against the cream paper. "You're not invisible anymore. You might as well sit at the table."He set the letter down and walked to the window. The streetlights below cast long shadows, and he could see people moving through the night, unaware that their world was about to shift. His anonymity was gone. Whatever quiet life he'd built was over now."Shit," he said to himself, running a hand through his hair. "Here we go."The next morning brought chaos. Eddie's phone buzzed non-stop with calls from reporters, bloggers, and people he'd never heard of. He ignored them all and made coffee, scrolling through the headlines on his laptop."Mystery Investor Linked to Young Empire." "Sophia Young's Secret Partner." "Who Is Eddie Maxwell?"Thomas called around noon, his voice high with panic. "Eddie, they're saying you're some kind of hi

Eddie walked out of the banquet hall beside Sophia, feeling like a thousand pairs of eyes were burning holes in his back. The night air hit his face, cold and sharp, but it wasn't as cold as the silence between them. Behind them, he could hear the whispers starting up like a wildfire. "Well, that was something," Sophia said, her voice calm as always. Eddie didn't respond. He kept walking, but he could feel the crowd inside still watching through the windows. Clara was probably still standing there with her mouth open, trying to figure out what the hell just happened. And Gerow? Eddie could picture his face right now - that fake smile finally cracking. "You want a ride?" Sophia asked when they reached the parking area. "I'm good, I'll get an uber" Eddie said, pulling out his phone to call a cab. But before he could dial, he heard footsteps behind them. A group of people had followed them outside, phones already out, some trying to look casual while they took pictures. "Eddie," Sop
