“Dustin, here is the divorce agreement prepared by Ms. Nicholson. All you need to do is sign them.”

In the president’s office of the Quine Group, the secretary, Lyra Blaine, placed a piece of A4 paper on the table. A man sat opposite her, dressed in plain clothing.

“Divorce? What do you mean?”

Dustin Rhys was taken aback.

“Do you not understand what I’m saying? Your marriage with Ms. Nicholson is over. You’re not even on the same level anymore. Your existence is nothing but a smear on the president’s reputation!”

Lyra pulled no punches as she spoke.

“A smear on her reputation?” Dustin frowned. “Is that how she thinks of me?”

Back when they first got married, the Nicholson family was in ruinous debt. He was the one who helped them when they were at their lowest point. Now that they were rich, Dahlia Nicholson was ready to just kick him out.

“Something like that.” Lyra jerked her chin toward the magazine on the table. A photo of a beautiful woman was printed on the front page. “Look at the headline on this magazine, Dustin. Ms. Nicholson’s net worth has hit one billion in the course of just three years, a feat no short of a miracle. She’s now the most desired woman in Swinton! With all this, she’s destined for greatness. But you, you’re just a regular joe. You don’t deserve her at all. I hope that you’ll see some sense and do the right thing.”

When Dustin remained silent, Lyra frowned.

“I know you’re not happy with this, but this is reality,” she continued. “You might have helped Ms. Nicholson when she was in trouble, but she has repaid you for everything you’ve done for her over the last three years. In fact, you’re the one who owes her now!”

“Is our marriage just a business deal to her, then?” Dustin took a deep breath to suppress the emotions within. “If she wants to divorce me, let her speak to me herself.”

“Ms. Nicholson is very busy. She doesn’t need to trouble herself with such trifling matters.”

“Trifling matters?” Dustin was stunned. Then he laughed bitterly. “Is that so? Is divorce a trifling matter to her? She can’t even find the time to speak to me. Truly, she’s that unattainable now!”

“Dustin, don’t delay this any longer.” Lyra pushed the divorce agreement toward him again. “Just sign here and you’ll get a car and a house as compensation. On top of that, you’ll also get eight million dollars. This is more than what you’ll be able to earn in your lifetime!”

“Eight million dollars is a lot, but…I don’t need it. I will sign the divorce papers if she comes personally. Otherwise, I won’t sign anything,” Duston said coldly.

“Don’t go too far, Dustin!” Lyra slammed her hand on the table. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you. With all her power and resources, Ms. Nicholson can divorce you easily. It’s only because she appreciates her past relationship with you that she’s allowing you to keep your dignity intact. Don’t provoke her!”

“My dignity?” Dustin was a little amused by that. She didn’t even want to speak to him directly to divorce him. What kind of dignity was that? Moreover, if she really did appreciate their relationship, then why was she threatening him now?

“I don’t think we have anything else to talk about, then.”

Unwilling to argue, Dustin stood up and made to leave.

“Dustin Rhys! You—”

Just as Lyra was about to lose her cool, a curvy woman in a long black dress walked in. Her skin was as white as snow, and her features were delicate. Her lofty aura and curvaceous figure made her look like a goddess right out of a painting.

“You’re finally here.”

Dustin felt complicated emotions when he saw the beautiful woman. They had been married for three years, during which they treated each other with care and respect. But this was how it ended. He still didn’t know what he had done wrong.

“I’m sorry for being late, I was caught up with something else.”

Dahlia Nicholson sat down. Her expression was as impassive as ever.

“You certainly are busy, if you need your secretary to help you deal with your divorce,” Dustin said.

Hearing this, Dahlia frowned slightly. However, she did not explain herself. Instead, she said, “Since you’re here, let’s get straight to the point. Let’s end this on a pleasant note. I’m sorry I have to do this to you, so you can have the car and the house, plus eight million dollars as alimony. How does that sound?”

At that, she placed a card on the table.

“Do you really think our relationship can be measured by money?” Dustin asked.

“Too little? That’s alright. Let me know what you want. I’ll give you anything within my power,” Dahlia said placidly.

“I don’t think you understood me. Let me rephrase my question. Are money and power that important to you?” Dustin was truly bewildered.

Dahlia went over to the windows and looked out over the city. There was determination in her eyes when she said, “To me, yes, they’re very important.”

“You’ve earned enough to feed yourself for the rest of your life. Why do this?”

“Dustin, that’s where you and I diverge in philosophy. You’ll never understand what I really want.” Dahlia shook her head in disappointment.

They weren’t just incompatible in status and power; they were also incompatible in their principles. Most importantly, she did not see any hope for the future in him.

“You’re right. How would I know what you’re thinking?” Dustin laughed bitterly. “All I know is to cook for you when you’re hungry, prepare your coat when it’s cold out, and carry you to the hospital when you’re sick.”

“There’s no point in going into this now.” Dahlia’s expression held complicated emotions, but it was soon covered up by determination.

“You’re right.” Dustin nodded without any emotion. “I heard that you’ve been close with the heir of the Nolan family. Is it because of him?”

Dahlia was about to deny it when she gave it a second thought. In the end, she nodded.

“You can say that.”

“Okay. I hope you’re happy with him.” Dustin smiled and signed the divorce agreement without any more hesitation. All he felt now was disappointment. Ironically, today was also their wedding anniversary. There was cruel humor in divorcing him on the day they had gotten married.

“I don’t want the money, I just want that crystal necklace back. My mother left it to me before she died so that I can give it to my wife.”

“Okay.”

Dahlia nodded and gave him the crystal necklace.

“From today onward, we will have nothing to do with each other!”

Dustin put on the necklace and left. He had no more gentleness in his expression; all that was left was distant aloofness.

“Did I do the right thing, Lyra?” Dahlia asked hesitantly.

Even though she was the one who asked for the divorce, she didn’t feel happy at all when it was finalized.

“Of course you did!” Lyra nodded. “You have the right to pursue happiness. Dustin does not deserve you at all. He’ll only bring you down with him. You’re destined to be the most powerful woman in Swinton!”

Dahlia did not answer her. As she watched Dustin leave, she felt as if she was losing something precious.

"Find a scapegoat?" Nathaniel asked. He looked confused. He didn't understand what Cynthia meant. "Could you explain what you mean, Mother?""Think about it. If your enemies are too powerful to deal with, why not let the royal gods from the Hall of Gods handle them?" Cynthia explained. She smiled slyly and added, "Your brothers, for example. Or any other thorns in your side."Nathaniel perked up, and a glint of understanding flashed in his eyes. "That's brilliant, Mother. I see it now."He had been so frantic earlier that he hadn't seen the bigger picture. The royal gods of the Hall of Gods arriving at his doorstep wasn't just a threat but an opportunity. If he played it right, Nathaniel could use the Hall of Gods to eliminate his enemies. It wouldn't just resolve the crisis, but it'd also keep him on good terms with the West Lucozian monarchy. He could let the royal gods handle the dirty work while clearing his path to the throne. This wasn't just killing two birds with one s

Bryce rushed into Nathaniel's quarter and stumbled as he went. His clothes were soaked with sweat, and his face still wore the pallor of fear.At that moment, Nathaniel was seated at his desk. He stared into the dim glow of a single lamp, lost in thought. Upon hearing the sound of frantic footsteps, he frowned and looked up."Y-Your Highness! Something terrible has happened," Bryce stammered. He burst through the door and was too panicked to bother with formalities."What's wrong?" Nathaniel asked with a frown, and he looked annoyed. The mansion was so large that the explosion of the main gate earlier hadn't alerted him."Your Highness, Zeus and Hera, the royal gods from the Hall of Gods, just barged in and attacked us. General Derin tried to stop them, but Zeus raised his hand and struck him with a lightning bolt. General Derin… He was killed on the spot."Bryce forced himself to calm his nerves and quickly recounted what had happened earlier. He had seen his share of battles, s

That night, two figures hovered silently above Nathaniel's mansion. They looked down and took in every detail of the mansion below. It was none other than Zeus and Hera."This is the place." They exchanged a brief glance before turning into two streaks of light and slamming down in front of the gates. With a single strike, they knocked out the two guards.Zeus then casually raised his hand. The main gate exploded in a violent roar and crumbled to dust in an instant.Suddenly, a surge of immense energy flooded the entire mansion."Who dares break into Prince Nathaniel's mansion?" The noise drew the attention of Lycas and Bryce, two of Nathaniel's personal guards. They stormed out with a squad of soldiers and quickly surrounded Zeus and Hera, who had just entered the compound. But when they felt the crushing pressure radiating from the intruders, Lycas and Bryce felt a chill run down their spines. Their expressions grew darker by the second."Where's Logan Rhys?" Zeus demanded

"I was surprised I managed to bring the Dragon essence back so smoothly. I was ready to go head-to-head with Nathaniel if it came to that," Dustin said.Grace raised an eyebrow and asked curiously, "Oh? What happened?" He didn't hold back and recounted everything in detail—from Nathaniel's unexpected gesture of goodwill to Felicia covering up for him and her subsequent allegiance. He shook his head and asked, "So, what do you think Nathaniel is up to? He was suspicious of me before, and we nearly got into a fight. "But the next day, he was like a completely different person. He was warm and had an overly friendly demeanor. He even sent me a top beauty from the Beauty Ranking. It doesn't make sense at all.""I think this is likely connected to his mother, Lady Spanner," Grace replied. She paused for a thought, then added, "Lady Spanner is a shrewd and calculating woman. She probably realized Nathaniel can't take you head-on. Rather than continuing to oppose you, she's trying t

Dustin agreed with what Felicia had said.He had expected Nathaniel to use the situation as an excuse to make things difficult for him. Or perhaps put him under house arrest and keep him from leaving. But to his surprise, Nathaniel did nothing. He even offered Dustin one of the top beauties on the Beauty Ranking. It was clear that he was trying to establish a friendly relationship. Whether there were other motives behind this gesture didn't matter for now. As far as Dustin was concerned, this outcome worked in his favor."Forget it. Let's talk about it later," Dustin said.He didn't dwell on it and left the mansion with Felicia. Time was running out, and he couldn't afford any delays. He had to follow Grace's plan and use the Dracan essence to boost his cultivation before the two royal gods of the Hall of Gods arrived.…Dustin leaned against the plush seat of a sleek luxury car. "But… I still can't accept this," Nathaniel said. He clenched his jaw, and his eyes burned with fury.He was only one step away from success, so why would Valon choose to interfere with his plan now of all times? Did this mean his father had never intended to name him crown prince? Had all that past favoritism been nothing but an act?"If you want to accomplish something great, you need patience. You can't afford to rush things," Cynthia said earnestly. She continued, "One setback doesn't mean the end, and a few lost treasures aren't worth worrying over. As long as you're still standing, there's always another chance. I'll be here for you, and so will the Spanner family."Nathaniel's expression finally softened.Even without the Dracan essence to strengthen his claim to the throne, he still had his mother, the backing of the Spanner family, and the network he'd carefully built over the years. With all that behind him, he had what it took to challenge Matthias and Tristan."What

When Nathaniel finally regained consciousness, it was already evening. Outside his room, Lycas and Bryce stood vigilantly with a team of elite guards. As soon as she heard that her son was unconscious, she rushed over with the doctors.Nathaniel was her only son. She had devoted herself entirely to raising him, giving him the best of everything. And fortunately, he had lived up to her expectations. He stood out among the other princes and had earned the right to compete for the throne.Cynthia had been making plans for Nathaniel's future recently. But just as everything seemed to finally come together, this sudden crisis left her shaken.Thankfully, it wasn't anything serious. He had only fainted from the stress."Nathaniel, how are you feeling? Are you alright?" Cynthia asked. When her son opened his eyes, she moved quickly to his side, concern written on her face."Mother

"I see," Dustin muttered as his gaze fixed on the chessboard. He nodded and said, "You've helped me tonight. That puts me in your debt. If you ever need anything, just say the word."Dustin lived by one rule—return what was given, whether kindness or vengeance. Felicia hadn't exposed him earlier. She had even covered for him. That was a debt he intended to repay."Mr. Rhys, you truly are a man of principle. I admire that," she said. She dipped her head with a playful smile, and that gesture carried an elegant charm."But I'm still curious about what brought you here tonight. Did you already suspect me?" Dustin asked."Anyone who wants to get close to Nathaniel usually wants one of three things—power, fame, or money. I can see it in their eyes, but you're different," Felicia said with a smile. She continued, "You came here and offered the Dracan essence, but didn't ask for a title or recognition. You even turned down the company of women, which only makes me suspect you have an

Dustin's expression darkened, and his voice came out sharper than before. If he stayed quiet and let Nathaniel search him without protest, it would only make him look suspicious."Logan, there's been a break-in. The whole mansion is on lockdown. For your safety, we need to search the place," Nathaniel said, his expression darkening. He was convinced Dustin was the thief. But without solid evidence, he couldn't make a direct accusation. If Dustin resisted, Nathaniel wouldn't hesitate to act."Break-in?" Dustin raised an eyebrow. "Really? Is that what the tremor earlier was about?""We'll go over the details later. Right now, we can't risk letting anyone slip away. So, I must search your place," Nathaniel said.He wasn't in the mood to explain further.
