Chapter 7 Zane vs Nabe

Zane's past life, Arnold, excelled in every way. Not only in his specialty in magic but also in his physical ability. But now, it's all different. He was in a different body and also his new body never had the slightest good physical and magical abilities.

Like it or not, Arnold, who is in his new body now, must try harder if he want to achieve his new dream in this new world.

Now in front of him stood a floor boss, which proved that if he managed to defeat the monster his first dungeon would be completed.

Upon seeing Naberius, he understood the characteristic of the demon, clearly knew his weaknesses, and came up with strategies to handle him.

However, he realized that his strength had decreased. Not like when in the past. He was now just an ordinary rookie.

"But that was better for me."

Even so, Zane is not a person who gives up easily. He is ready to face all the challenges that come his way. Unfortunately, unlike the other Darkie Welf, the figure who now stands on two legs also has a smart mind.

"Swosh—!"

Zane's fireball burned deep into Naberius's body, but Nabe shook off his thick fur and the fire just disappeared.

At that moment, a grin appeared on Nabe's face, which at that time seemed to be showing his sharp teeth.

[Don't compare me to these lowly beasts, Master. Low-fire magic like that, won't be of any impact to me]

"If so, I will continue to attack you until my fire can burn you"

Zane's words weren't nonsense, because seeing Naberius with high agility and dexterity, fighting close to him wasn't a good choice. Zane chooses to attack from afar so he gets a good chance to deal heavy damage to Naberius.

[Alright, I'll prove whether your words can be trusted or not]

"Leap—!"

"Dash—!"

Nabe jumped forward and accelerated his run. He looked like a werewolf ready to catch his prey.

Zane didn't stay silent. He still launched his skills. Fireballs and also ice missiles.

However, Nabe easily dodged it.

[Come here, Nabe. Come closer as fast as possible]

When Nabe was a little closer to Zane who seemed to be launching a magic skill that looked pointless, something seemed to be bothering him.

[Why is master's gaze so calm? Is he pretending to be strong to trick me?]

Nabe increasingly showed his sharp teeth. On the sidelines of the gauntlet he was using, he brought out his sharp nails.

He began to swing his arms and sharp nails.

"It's not that easy, Nabe"

"Roots—!"

Tree roots that looked big and strong reappeared on the sidelines of the ground where Nabe was. But with his speed and agility, Nabe easily dodged the skill.

Nabe seemed to ignore him.

His movements quickened, and his eyes focused on Zane.

Seeing Nabe moving closer, Zane couldn't help but start moving back to avoid the werewolf's movements.

[Why are you avoiding me, master? Don't you look like a coward right now?]

Zane stopped dodging. He looked like he had been swallowed up by Nabe's ridicule.

In Nabe's eyes, it looked like a golden opportunity. He sped up his movement. But Nabe didn't attack from the front, but he appeared right behind Zane and took out his sharp claws, and was ready to stab Zane's back.

"Not so fast, Nabe"

[Poison Vine}

"Roots—!"

Zane combines the debuff skill Root with Poison Vine which manages to bind Nabe when he is just a little bit closer to touching Zane's body. But in Nabe's eyes, it was just an ordinary root that he easily destroyed.

[I told you before, a tree root like this won't easily hinder me, Master. You don't seem to understand either…]

"Is that true?"

Zane grinned, followed by a relaxed smile.

When he realized something was wrong with his body, Nabe's face looked crumpled. He looked at his own body.

His hands, feet, and body has been wrapped in flame chains, ice chains, and tree roots from skill root.

The more violent and rebellious Nabe was to free himself from the entanglement of these debuff skills, the tighter these skills entangled him.

"It seems that, after our separation for so long, you forgot about my specialization magic, Nabe?"

The gaze from Naberius sharpened. He looked around, and he saw his Master, and also Asmodeus who was standing casually with the corpses of the Darkie Welfs he had killed. Nabe realized that there were a few things wrong.

[You purposely took out fireballs and ice missiles just to trick me]

[Bastard…!]

[You are too arrogant, Nabe. You're underestimating Mr. Zane. You don't even notice that I'm still here]

Asmodeus who was mocking Naberius looked satisfied.

Naberius understood that Zane was deliberately buying time to get Asmodeus to kill all of the remaining Darkie Welfs. That way, Zane can level up and make the skills he has more and stronger.

Zane moved slowly towards the already bound Naberius.

"Sorry, Nabe. I'm sure if the fight this time the winner is me.

"Stab—!"

Zane moved his right palm and placed it right on Nabe's left chest. Right in front of his heart.

"Firebolts—!"

With a short chant, a fire attack that was deadlier than a fireball penetrated and made a big enough hole in Nabe's chest.

[You sure are tough, Master. It's my fault that I underestimate you. I can't wait to have another adventure with you]

[Hail my master, Gyan Zane. Hail Ars Goetia]

"I can't wait to fight alongside you too, Nabe. Hail Ars Goetia"

Nabe's body instantly crumbled into pieces of dust. It wasn't long before a voice came back into Zane's head.

[You have successfully defeated the first-floor boss.]

[You have passed the first floor's Grade S dungeon.]

[You have unlocked unique skills.]

[All stats have been increased by 10 points.]

It was the end of the first floor.

Zane was wide-eyed.

"What a reward…"

Unique skills.

All stats increased by ten.

Besides the unlocked unique skill, the reward was hard to accept as it was rare to be awarded an increase for all stats.

Plus, it was increased by 10 points for all.

No matter if this was a grade S dungeon, the reward was beyond imagination.

"I knew the rewards would depend on the course of the trial and the performance, but…"

He didn't think that the reward would be this great.

Whatever the reason, it was satisfying for Zane.

If he were to be continuously rewarded in this way, he would be able to earn much more than he did in his previous life.

[You may choose a new unique skill.]

[Are you going to take it?]

Another message appeared later on.

It was the message that Zane was waiting for.

With new skills, one will make himself gradually return to his highest level.

Currently, Zane reached level 40.

It was quite a substantial level that he earned from the first floor. It was thanks to the fact that Zane managed to pass the first dungeon that got him a higher chance to get his level up drastically.

"Yes, I am."

Of course, Zane took the chance.

Various skills appeared before him, As long as he has his unique skills, he could do anything in his new world.

Amongst them, there was only one that Zane was thinking of.

"Here we go."

[You choose Artisan Weapon & Armor. Are you sure?]

The unique skill that came into Zane's view was a skill that made it easy for the caster to create armor and weapons from just imagination. The materials he needs, it is still required to be prepared. But that doesn't apply to Arnold, in his Tower of Magic, all the materials are already there.

"Firstly, I have to make an armor that makes my intelligence increase, I will combine it with the weapon that can make my mana withstand for a long time and it doesn't look too flashy"

Currently, Zane doesn't wear armor and weapons at all. He's just using his abilities.

The use of armor and weapons has definitely changed his status.

The skills he took were also only used by the caster himself, or people who were always in his party. The caster's armor and weapons would be useless if used by someone outside of the caster's party.

"Whirl—!"

Since Zane had been dealing with this unique magic for a long time, it didn't take him long to adapt to the skill.

"It's done."

[Responding to new armor.]

[Your all abilities increase by 10 points.]

[Responding to new weapons.]

[Your intelligence and luck have increased by 40 points each.]

Now he appears to be wearing a black robe and a weapon in the form of a flaming orb on his right wrist.

***

"40 points for luck and intelligence, huh? Pretty good points even though not big"

"Whirl—!"

Zane sent magic power into the empty space in front of him.

"Baduum—!"

With just one attack, it can destroy rocks that look big and strong.

However, his facial expression was annoyed.

"I can't use this magic skill too often. It consumes too much of my mana…."

[Maybe you need the usual mana-boosting liquid, mister Zane]

"You're right, Asmo. However, I don't know how this world works. I could just make mana potions in my abyss world. However, I don't want to rely too much on the Tower of Magic."

Though disappointed, Zane was considering the long run.

"I should get stronger on this dungeon while I can."

"For the sake of the future…."

"For a mana deficiency like this, I'm sure there will be a solution."

As his magic power ran out, Zane lowered it.

"As expected, strengthening the mana pool is the most important."

[Will you advance to the next floor?]
