The Betrayal

Anger pulsed through her skin in waves.

"You can't do this. I can't be stuck with this loser for the rest of the academic session!"

"I am afraid but that's the fixed rule and there is really nothing that I can do about it!" The guardian quickly replied, apologies filling his voice but Emma wouldn't take it.

She turned to Rex.

"You did this deliberately didn't you? You couldn't keep that slacked d**k to yourself and decided to ruin my life with your horniness didn't you!” The cores of the halls shook by her ravaging again. 

She paused, then her eyes grew wild.

“You have to forfeit, right now!" She glared at Rex like he was something that crawled out of the gutters.

"You're not the only one who's unsatisfied by the results Emma, I would have done that already before you even thought of it if that were possible." Rex replied calmly.

But it only flared Emma's rage even further. 

"And who do you think is stupid enough to believe such lies? You've been stalking me for so long, I am sure you waited to see my numbers before going ahead to choose yours!"

Ohs and Ahhs filled the hall to a daring brim that almost everyone passed out.

"I'd rather stalk a stray dog than waste time on someone who thinks the world revolves around her!" Rex retorted.

Plain shock instantly pulsed through the hall and anger pulsed through her veins.

She raised her hands to slap him to stop mid air with the guard frantically pointing at the inscribed rules in the walls.

"I'm going to make sure that you pay for this!" She stomped away angrily from the hall.

"We should kill her!" Rex heard a voice saying that could only come from the Lung Dragon and he rolled his eyes at it.

The day went by, most people had already bonded with their teammates while Rex stood there, waiting.

A few moments later, Emma sprouted back angrily and dumped a paper right beside him.

Just above it was tagged the partnership program.

"We will talk only when we have to, no touching, I will be in charge of all the fights that would be allocated to us, not like you or that trash of a beast can do anything in the first place. All you have to do is survive. Remember if you are eliminated, I am, and if that happens, you would be dead! I will make sure of it!” She growled.

The Lung Dragon growled back but Rex wasn't in the mood for any drama, he only shot an unreadable expression that pissed her off even further.

"Just hope that you wouldn't need my help in the future!"

"Not even a dying kitten would need help from someone whose beast leaves slime trails everywhere!"

Just then, a presence potent enough to cause Rex's skin to boil over walked into the place, his devious smirk replaced by a charming smile as he peered deep into Emma's eyes.

"I can see that you are having some challenges as it pertains to your partner?" Harold said smoothly.

"I can help with that, I can help change the rules so that he is no longer your partner!"

At first hearing those words caused Emma's eyes to widen in ways that they almost shot out from their sockets at that instant, but looking at Harold, he didn't seem like someone that would pull a mere bluff.

"A lot of people have tried over the decades to change the rules, why do you think that it would be possible with you?"

Harold's smile widened with absolute arrogance.

"Because of the weight that I possess in the society. I'm Harold Blackwood, a name that echoes even among the council. My father has direct connections with almost all the eleven founding families. Rules bend when my family speaks, Emma. They always have."

“And maybe we could be partners then!” His eagle made a swift swore through the room in a graceful motion. 

“Unlike others, my beast actually has potentials!”
