The shadow man stood hidden in thick darkness. His shadows swirling behind him like a living void. His eyes were locked on the surveillance feed illuminating the wall before him. It was a grainy black-and-white footage of Kai being carried into the forbidden clinic of Dr. Ryne Elkar.

His jaw clenched, and a slow, dangerous breath escaped him.

“He mustn’t survive this attack,” the shadow man hissed.

Without delay, he raised a finger wrapped in darkened steel rings. With a soft hiss, a sigil glowed and it summoned three figures robed in black armor. They were silent, precise and lethal. They were his personal enforcers.

“You are to eliminate Kai Drake and Dr. Ryne Elkar,” the shadow man commanded. His voice sounded like a wind through the bone. “Dr. Elkar is not to be underestimated. Behead them both. And there must not be witnesses.”

The three bowed low and vanished from his presence ready to do his bidding.

Back at the clinic. There was a space hidden beneath layers of sanction, Dr

Shadows danced across the empty courtyards, and only two figures stood at the heart of the eastern plane. Kai Draven and Kilmanjoo, the infamous Dark Assassin. They stared each other down. The silence between them screaming louder than any battle cry.Kilmanjoo moved first. With blinding speed, he vanished into the dark and reappeared behind Kai. He slashed at his back with the crescent arc of his blade. Kai pivoted fast, narrowly blocking the strike. The force sent a shock down his arm.“You’re quick,” Kai muttered.“You’re slow,” Kilmanjoo sneered, launching another flurry of blows. His blade shimmered like death itself. He slashed again, once, twice, thrice with each time leaving small, and sharp gashes on Kai’s arm, side, and leg. Blood dripped as Kai staggered backward. But he didn’t fall. Kilmanjoo charged once more, this time aiming for Kai’s neck with a ruthless overhead swin

  • Chapter 74: A Night of Shadows and Secrets

The sun had barely climbed over the horizon and yet the central academic grounds was filled with whispers and shocking exclamations.Students gathered in small clusters with their eyes wide and mouths agape as they stared at the second elite student, Dervan bound to the same tree where Kai had once been humiliated. The markings on his body that was written in bold black ink confirmed everyone’s suspicion.Kai had struck again! But unlike before, no one rushed to report to Councilor Locke. Instead, the prevailing sentiment among the students was the same,“He met his doom.” one of the students said. “That served him right.” Another raised his brows in delight. A few even chuckled quietly, as though karma had personally come to collect.Kai walked amongst them, blending with the crowd. But when Dervan caught sight of him, his blood boiled. • Chapter 73: The Tree of Retribution

The night was still and the moon suspended high over Ironsphire Academy. It’s pale light illuminated the center courtyard where the lone tree stood. The very tree Kai had once been tied to, mocked and humiliated before the eyes of hundreds in the school. Now, it bore a different prisoner.Kai stood silently beneath it, his breathing steady and his fists relaxed. Tied high against the trunk was Lawson. He was unconscious and his limbs hanging limp with the rope binding him tightly. His body bore the humiliating inscriptions Kai had marked him with, "I am sorry I beat you up, Kai." "I am the oppressor.” "I am so sorry for my doings."Across his forehead in bold black ink was "Behold your hero." Kai stood there for a few moments breathing slowly. He stared at the symbol of justice he had just delivered, before going back into the dormitory through the dark.…….The next morning. The sun crept over the grounds of Ironsphire. Students began to walk out from their dormitories, walking la

His voice burned out aggressively.Every student in the meal hall stared with wide eyes. The elite students, still catching their breath from the brutal beatings, blinked up in disbelief.“You… you can’t be serious,” one of them muttered, trying to push himself up on shaky arms.Kai tilted his head slightly with his gaze narrowing. “Can’t take what you dish out?” he asked with his voice dripping with venomous calm. “How interesting.” He sneered. Lawson, bruised and wheezing, dragged his body halfway upright and coughed. “We’re not doing th

"I was broken by the top ten elites. Made to suffer and was tormented. It is my time. One by one they will feel my fury," Kai echoed within himself, each word pulsing with resolve and fury. His eyes snapped open with a bright gleam as he was being carried on a stretcher toward the school’s clinic. Blood no longer stained his body. His skin bore no bruises. His muscles, which had moments ago been lifeless, twitched with regained strength.“Stop,” he commanded with a loud voice. The enforcers carrying him froze mid-step. They were stunned by the sudden power in his voice. Councilor Locke turned from behind them and his eyes wide.“Kai?” he echoed within. Kai sat up straight, swinging his legs down. He stood on his own with no help. Gasps echoed across the courtyard as dozens of students watched. His flesh once broken was now unscathed. His body gleamed with power. The injuries that had crippled him just hours ago had disappeared like a passing dream. It was as if it never happened.

“How long will I endure this humiliation?” Kai muttered through clenched teeth, his voice was low and raw. He could still taste the filth from the meal hall floor. The memory burned through his mind like acid. His fists trembled at his sides, and blood crusted at the corners of his lips.He remembered the laughter, the cruel stares and his own knees bruised against stone. Rage simmered beneath the surface, his nostrils simmered.“I’ll make sure to pay them back,” he growled. “Heavier than they ever think.” His hand tightened against his cloth. He walked through the corridor slowly and his body still aching from the beating. The air was tense, every student he passed gave him a wide berth.
