The bridges of light that arched over Valoria pulsed gently like the veins of a sleeping giant. The world had changed overnight. Everyone could feel it, in the wind, in the ground, in the way the single sun hummed faintly like a held breath.

But inside the high council chamber, four people stood facing something even stranger:

a doorway made of suspended radiance, swirling like golden mist caught in a vortex.

It wasn’t an illusion.

It wasn’t a spell.

It was an invitation.

Kael paced in front of the doorway, muttering to himself.

“This is reckless. Brilliant, but reckless. We’re about to step into an uncharted dimension with no idea how physics, magic, or reality work there.”

Lyra leaned against the wall. “Kael. Relax. You’ll get wrinkles.”

He glared at her. “I have wrinkles. Because of you.”

“Because of your stress habits,” Lyra corrected, tapping her blade. “Besides, Terry won’t open the gate unless it’s safe… safe-enough, at least.”

Terry stood by the bridge, palms touching its radi

The deeper they pushed into the Ember ruins, the more the air changed. It grew heavy, thick with old magic and something else. Memory. The walls shimmered with faint embossings, ancient sigils pulsing like buried heartbeats. Every step echoed as if the stone remembered who walked it.Jalen swallowed hard. “This place feels… wrong. Like it’s older than Valoria itself.”“It is,” Terry murmured. “Ember wasn’t found by the Circle. It was awakened.”“And your mother was… part of this awakening?”“I don’t know,” Terry said quietly. “Not yet.”The tunnel widened. A massive archway opened into a circular chamber that hummed with living heat.Molten veins flowed like rivers through crevices, illuminating the room in gold and crimson. At the center rose a stone platform, and above it, a suspended sphere of condensed Ember.Pure. Radiant. Alive.Jalen froze. “That’s… the Core?”Terry nodded slowly. “The heart of everything.”As they approached, shadows peeled away from the far end of the chamber

  • Chapter 82 — The Ember Pulse

The molten-lit corridors trembled with Terry’s footsteps as he pushed deeper into the ruins, the air vibrating with an unseen pulse. The sword whispered against his back, hungry, restless, yet… obedient. For now.Jalen hurried beside him, voice low. “This energy… it’s getting stronger. Like the walls themselves are breathing.”“They are,” Terry said. “The Ember network is waking up. Responding to what we stirred.”“Responding to you,” Jalen muttered.Terry didn’t deny it.A sudden tremor rippled through the ground. Cracks split the floor as molten light surged outward in jagged lines.Jalen stumbled. “What was that?”Terry held up a hand. “Not an attack. A signal.”“To who?”“To everything connected to Ember.”A new voice echoed from ahead, smooth, sharp, and dripping with mockery.“Impressive, Terry Williams. You’ve made our city tremble.”Both men froze. From the molten haze emerged a figure clad in obsidian armor interlaced with glowing red veins. His mask was sculpted metal, expre

  • Chapter 81 — Web of Shadows

The deeper they went into the ruins, the colder the corridors became, despite the lingering heat of the molten veins. Terry’s sword hummed faintly, a soft violet pulse syncing with the subtle thrum of the Ember network beneath the city. Shadows stretched unnaturally along the walls, flickering as if whispering secrets.Jalen’s voice was low, tense. “Terry… something’s off. I can feel it. These corridors… they’re alive… but differently than before.”Terry’s violet eyes scanned the darkness. “The Circle’s influence runs deeper than even they realize. Ember feels it, corruption buried beneath corruption. They’ve made traps within traps, waiting for those who come seeking them.”A whisper echoed through the corridors, distorted and mocking. “So bold… so foolish…”Terry tightened his grip on the sword. “Show yourself. I don’t fear shadows.”From the darkness, multiple figures emerged, clad in the black-and-red uniforms of the Circle’s elite. Their movements were precise, coordinated, and e

  • Chapter 80 — Heart of the Circle

The air grew heavier as Terry led the rebels deeper into the heart of Valoria, far beneath the city streets where the Circle’s influence festered. The corridors narrowed, walls slick with ancient soot and veins of corrupted Ember energy. Each step sent faint tremors through the stone, whispering of centuries of hidden experiments, betrayal, and death.Jalen’s hand tightened on his weapon. “This place… it feels wrong. The air itself feels alive… like it’s watching us.”Terry’s violet eyes glowed faintly. “It is alive. And it recognizes me. Not as a master yet, but as a challenger. The Ember in these veins, tainted by the Circle, reacts to anyone who dares to approach its core.”A low, mocking laugh echoed down the corridor, bouncing off jagged stone. Terry tensed, sensing the presence before it fully revealed itself.“Brave little healers,” the voice sneered. “Or should I say… Vessel.”Terry’s eyes narrowed. “I am not a Vessel. I am Terry Williams. And I will end what you’ve built here

  • Chapter 79 — Embers of Vengeance

The corridors of the Ember ruins twisted like serpents, molten veins casting flickering shadows along jagged walls.Terry led the group forward, sword in hand, violet threads of energy trailing behind him like living fire. Every step was measured, every breath synchronized with the pulse of the ruins.“Are you sure about this?” Jalen asked, voice low. “The Circle… they’re not just one threat. They’ve had centuries to prepare for people like us.”Terry’s eyes glowed faintly. “I don’t need certainty. I need resolve. The Ember recognizes the truth of this path. And so do I.”Jalen swallowed hard, glancing at the molten veins winding beneath their feet. “It’s… alive, isn’t it?”Terry didn’t answer immediately. He felt it, Ember energy coiling, watching, anticipating. It was more than a weapon now. It was an extension of him. Part of him. A living, sentient force that had chosen to obey, not dominate.“Yes,” Terry said finally. “Alive. And it fights with me, not against me.”A sudden rumbl

  • Chapter 78 — Veins of Rebellion

The Ember ruins settled into a tense quiet, molten veins cooling to a soft orange glow as Terry led the group deeper into the labyrinthine corridors. The air was thick with heat, dust, and the faint hum of latent energy, vibrating faintly beneath their boots.“We can’t linger here,” Jalen whispered, wiping sweat from his brow. “The Circle… they’ll know we’re here soon enough.”Terry’s eyes, still faintly glowing violet, scanned the shifting shadows along the walls. “We’re not hiding,” he said. “We’re preparing. Ember has guided me this far, and it will guide us further.”“Guided you?” Jalen asked, voice tight. “Terry… that hunger, the Vessel, how do I know it won’t take you over?”Terry’s gaze softened for a moment, the tension in his shoulders easing. “Because I’ve faced it. I’ve accepted it without surrendering to it. Ember isn’t my master. It’s a tool. And I control the tool.”A distant rumble echoed through the ruins. Dust rained down from overhead fissures. Terry instinctively ra
