Awakening: The Worthless son’s Ascension.

Chapter 16:

Ruth, Dave's girlfriend charged forward, her heels clicking on the floor as she pressed forward to the front. 

Dave whose face was initially smiling faltered slightly to a little frown when he saw his girlfriend matching forward. Her motion from all angles indicated anger. The hall buzzed with murmuring as stare in her direction.

She climbed on the mini stairs that stretched to the podium and walked to Dave whose stance had shifted, staring at her curiously and anticipatingly.

Ruth leaned in, a breath away from his ear and she whispered some words in his ear, pointing at Jin's direction.

Jin knew at once that they were talking about him but he remained calm on his seat even as everyone turned their head in his direction.

Dave nodded gently, frowning slightly as he was comprehending whatever Ruth was whispering into his ear.

As Ruth was descending the stage, Dave walked to Axel who is in the dark of whatever that is going on.

He talked to him with a low voice, pointing his finger in a direction.

Tracing the line of his hand, Axel's eyes fell on Jin and his eyes dilated slightly, shock flashing within.

Axel gave a gentle nod and descended down the  stairs, all eyes following him to know exactly what the matter was.

“Mr. Axel is coming to hand you over to the bodyguards, you'll be pushed out of here like a   dirty sack!" Ruth mocked Jin with a Taunting laugh.

Jin didn't react to her tirade. His calmness alone makes her  body itch the more 

  Her expectations were that Jin would quickly beg and leave the table or quickly vacate the hall out of fear but he just sat there like he owns the hall.

A guy who is serving wines came to the table and dropped a tray which held  a bottle of red wine before Jin.

Jin looked up, his eyes meeting the guy who smiled at him genuinely “Thanks.” He muttered 

The guy smiled and gave a gentle bow. “Should I open the bottle for you, sir?" The guy pressed on, his jovial and kind response impressing Jin who stared at him once again, obviously pleased at how polite he is with his words.

As the guy reached out to the bottle to open it for Jin, Ruth cut in sharply. “You dare not open that bottle!! Else you'll leave here without getting paid!!" She shrieked, her voice commanding.

Her voice startled the guy. Already, he had opened the wine which was filled to the brim.

 He didn't expect Ruth to yell at him like that which made made his hand trembling slightly,  clashing slightly against the bottle in a way a copious quantity of the wine sputtered out of the bottle and spilled on Jin's suit.

Jin didn't jerk up which was the normal reflex anyone in such a situation would give.

 He just sat there, still like a statue, his expression firm and unreadable.

The server gasped dusting the ruin off his cloth but it was too late. It had soiled the suit.

“What is happening here!!!" Axel's voice cut in from behind, striking through with a commanding tone.

From his angle, he was yet to see the ruin on Jin's suit because the wine server was blocking his view.

He shifted to the side which gave Axel the edge to see Jin properly. A deep frown rumpled his face instantly and anger flashed in his eyes. 

“Mast...S..I mean what happened here!?“ He stuttered like someone who has a cracked voice but it was a quick correction from revealing Jin's identity.

“This is the guy! He is here to cause trouble, Brother. Someone like him doesn't deserve to be here!! Can you believe this bastard here dare drag space with me!!” Dave's voice cut in from behind, laced with anger and detest.

Then it happened.

It wasn't expected.

Axel turned to Dave sharply and raised his hand in the air. Raising it down, his palm connected to his jaw and a resounding slap echoed from his cheek, sputtering saliva out from his mouth.

Gasps rippled through the hall.

Dave stumbled backwards, losing his balance. He couldnt escape the fall. He crashed into the nearest table, crashing down bottles of wine from  the table and spilling the content all over the floor.

The air buzzed with murmuring.

Ruth stood up sharply, confusion evidence on her face as she wondered why Axel slapped Dave when it should be Jin who should have received the shocking slap.

“Mr. Axel.. this guy her is..”

Axel turned to her sharply “Quiet!! He cut her off on a whim, voice slicing through like blade.

Ruth was startled, shock flashing in her eyes over the sudden outbursts from Axel which she didn't expect.

Dave is Axel's brother and he wanted to make him the manager of the Nexora branch because he trusted him.

Dave straightened up from the ground, his hand clinging to his burning cheek, nurturing the pain from the slap.

He began, pointing a finger at Jin “Brother..you slapped me because of this nameless guys here! You slapped your own brother because of a worthless stranger ..." 

“Shut your stinking mouth there!!!” Axel barked, his voice brooked no argument, startling the duo.

Axel turned to Jin, the anger and frown on his face replaced with a sincere smile. 

“I'm..I'm really sorry sir.. Please pardon them...” He was pleading with jin which further amazed everyone, increasing the murmuring and shocking comments from the guests, each one expressing astonishment.

“Is Mr. Axel apologizing to that little guy right now!!? Unbelievable!”

“Who the heck is that guy anyways for Mr. Axel to whack his brother in the face like that!" 

Jin stood up and gave a gentle smile. He lifted his eyes to Axel who bowed his head slightly, refusing to look him in the face.

Gasps rippled.

“I want him fired. He doesn't deserve it.” Jin began authoritatively, looking at Dave “We want someone who is kind and nice with his actions and words not someone who is arrogant and I have found that person right here.” He said and shifted his eyes to the wine server.

“I want him to be the manager here!” He blowed out.

A wave of gasps surged through the air.

Jin smiled and continued regardless. “And double his salary. He deserves it.” He concluded, stunning everyone the more with his statement.

“Who is that guy?! Why is he acting like he's the boss!" 

“Mr. Axel is not going to fire his brother for a wine server guy. Impossible!”

The win server guy couldn't believe it. His jaw fell slightly and he was left in shock. The tray in his hand slipped to the floor, clinging on the floor.

Axel turned to Dave who had shock flashing on his face just like Ruth.

Dave shook his head gently but severally as he stared at his brother's lips with a look of disbelief and surprise, wishing he could tell him it was a prank all along.

“You're fired.” Axel said flatly.

Gasps.
