Sabito barely had time to react. One moment, he was walking, trying to push the whole thing out of his mind.

The next, he was almost knocked down.

He turned around just as the black Porsche skidded to a stop, blocking his path.

The doors swiftly swung open, and Mike, Ethan and Jasper stepped out, no longer wearing the smug amusement they had before.

Their faces were twisted with dark anger, their eyes filled with something worse than disgust.

“You fool! So you don't just know when to stop, huh?” Mikes' voice was quiet, but it carried a dangerous edge to it, and Sabito's stomach twisted.

“You actually went ahead and talked to her,” Ethan said, shaking his head like Sabito had committed the ultimate sin. “Even after we gave you a chance to walk away.”

Jasper cracked his knuckles. “Guess we gotta teach you some respect.”

Sabito fearfully took a step back, but they were already on him. When they said they would make him understand that, he didn't know they actually meant it.

Mike moved first, grabbing him by the side of the collar and slamming him against the side of the car. Pain exploded through his back.

“You think you belong anywhere near Rose?” Mike all but hissed with fury. “No, you think you can walk up to her like she's your equal?”

Sabito gritted his teeth, refusing to answer, but it was a wrong move because he soon regretted it.

Ethan's fist crashed into his stomach, knocking the air from his lungs. Sabito doubles over, gasping, but they do not stop.

A punch to the face snapped his head back. A kick sent him sprawling onto the rough pavement. They came at him again, relentless, fists and feet hammering down on him, their anger pouring into every hit.

Sabito's vision blurred and his body ached, and then…

Everything went still!

Sabito lay motionless, his breath shallow and fading. Maybe this was the best after all. “If…if he dies,” he thought bitterly, “then they would stop with their bullies, right?”

He hated them. The bullies. He hated life. And if he should survive or be given a second chance, then he was going to deal with them! But until then, maybe he should just relax and enjoy oblivion.

The three guys stood over him, panting hard. Their hands still itches to hit him, however…

“Shit,” Jasper muttered, wiping the sweat off his brow. “He's…he's not moving!”

Ethan nudged sabito with his shoe, but his eyes widened for a tiny fraction when there was no reaction. “Did we—?”

Mike let out a slow breath, glancing around. The road was empty. Lucily, there are no witnesses. But even if there were, it was not like anyone could do anything.

The thought finally put his mind at ease.

His gaze coincidentally drifted to the lake beside them and a thought suddenly struck!

He glanced at Ethan and Jasper. “No one has to know.”

Their brows furrowed in confusion, before they followed his gaze, and immediately, a flicker of understanding dawned in their eyes.

Jasper gave a short laugh. “Damn. That's cold!”

“But smart,” Ethan added. “No body, no problem. Besides, aren't we tired of messing with the same person over and over again?”

Without another word, they grabbed Sabito by his arms and legs, his limp body dangling between them like a broken puppet. His head lolled to the side, blood trickling from his corner of his mouth.

Ethan adjusted his grip, hoisting him higher. “Damn, he's heavier than he looks.”

Jasper smirked. “Dead weight, literally.”

Mike stepped closer to the lakes edge, the murky water stretching out before them, its surface eerily calm, reflecting the golden hues of the setting sun. A perfect resting place for a mutt.

“On three,” Miles said, rolling his shoulders.

Ethan and Jasper tightened their grip.

“One.”

The lake seemed to darken, as if sensing what was about to happen.

“Two.”

A faint breeze rippled across the surface, whispering through the trees, as if urging them to stop.

“And Three!”

With a mighty swing, they hurled Sabito forward. His body arched through the air, almost weightless for a moment, before plunging into the lake with a loud splash!

The water erupted, and they watched as it swallowed him whole.

For a second, bubbles foamed and swirled where he had gone under, a sign of life and a desperate gasp from the depths.

Then… nothing.

The lake then stilled once more, as if it had never been disturbed.

Ethan let out a breath. “That's that.”

Miles dusted off his hands like he just wiped a disgusting speck of dust off his hand, his expression cold. “Let's go.”

Jasper cast one last glance at the water. “Poor bastard never had a chance.”

With that, they turned back to the car, the sound of their footsteps fading into the distance, leaving the lake to claim its newest secrets.

Few hours after the trio left, the sky suddenly blackened like ink spilling across paper, swallowing the last traces of sunlight.

The air grew thick, charged with something unnatural, something furious. Thunderclap roared, shaking the earth with each deafening crack, while jagged bolts of lightning slashed through the heavens like the claws of an unseen beast.

The once-still lake churned, its surface rippling violently as if something beneath was stirring, as if something was awakening.

The wind howled, rattling the trees, sending leaves spiraling into the stormy abyss. The ground trembled, the very elements rebelling, anger boiling in the sky, in the water, in the air.

A blinding light exploded from the lake, illuminating the darkness in a ghostly glow. The water, once heavy and suffocating, erupted, twisting and spiraling upward like a living creature.

A force so unnatural, so powerful, blasted outward, sending waves crashing onto the shore. The wind howled louder, screaming like a thousand voices in agony.

Then, in a blur of speed, something shot out of the lake with inhuman force!

A figure burst from the depths, water cascading off his body like liquid fire, power radiating from him in waves.

He hovered there for a moment, his body trembling, his chest rising and falling with each ragged breath.

The once familiar warmth in his brown eyes had been consumed by something new, but darker.

Flecks of red flickered within them, like embers in a dying fire, mirroring the fury that roared inside him.

His hands clenched, veins pulsing beneath his skin, thrumming with new found energy. He could feel it—electricity crackling in his fingertips, beat coursing through his veins, raw power humming in his very bones.

The storm raged around him, as if answering to his fury.

His body burned, but not with pain, but with purpose.

The name Mike echoed in his mind.

Ethan and Jasper.

Their laughter, their sneers, their cruelty—it all came rushing back, feeding the fire within him.

Sabito wasn't the same anymore.

They thought they had won.

They thought they had buried him.

They thought they were untouchable.

But…

They had all thought wrong.

And when he turned his gaze towards the horizon, towards the city where they lived their lives without a shred of remorse, a slow, dark smirk stretched across his lips…
