As his consciousness drifted in the darkness, Azrael couldn't help but wonder what he had done to deserve such a fate.
All he had ever wanted was to help people, just as his mother had. He had wanted to become someone capable of protecting others, someone who could make a difference in the world. Yet he had never even been given the chance. Instead, he had been treated as a worthless failure, used as a laboratory test subject, and subjected to unimaginable torture before finally being killed by the very people he had once dreamed of protecting. Was this what his mother had spent her life protecting? Was this the humanity she had dedicated herself to, the very people she had ultimately died trying to protect? The same people who had shown not the slightest remorse as they tortured her son to death? If this was what humanity truly represented, then he no longer wanted anything to do with it… he no longer wanted to become a hero. They weren't worth the sacrifices his mother had made. They weren't worth the dreams he had cherished for so many years. And they certainly weren't worth his life. Even as his body lay cold and lifeless among the trash, his consciousness continued to wander, drifting between memories, regrets, and bitter thoughts. Then, suddenly— Thump! Thump! Thump! A sound echoed through his lifeless body. His heart, which had completely stopped beating, suddenly began to beat again. At first, the beats were faint and weak, barely more than a whisper. But with each passing second, they grew stronger and more forceful. THUMP! THUMP! THUMP! His body, which has already gone cold and pale gradually began to warm. Color slowly returned to his skin as blood started circulating through his veins once more. After a while, Azrael slowly opened his eyes. However, all he could see was darkness. It took him a moment to realize that he seemed to be trapped inside a bag. The air inside was growing unbearably stuffy, and before long, he began to struggle to breathe. Panic set in as he frantically struggled against the confines of the bag, desperately trying to find a way out. After several moments of struggling, he finally managed to tear open the zipper and crawl out. The moment he emerged, a foul stench assaulted his nostrils, nearly making him puke. The smell was coming from the piles of trash surrounding him, and it didn't take long for him to realize that he had been dumped here along with trash. He hurried to his feet and stumbled as far away from the trash as possible. However, even after putting some distance between himself and the dump, the foul stench remained. It was only then that he realized getting rid of the smell wouldn't be as simple as moving away from the trash as he now smelled like one. "I'm... I'm still alive?" Azrael muttered, staring at his hands in disbelief. Only now was he beginning to comprehend what had happened. He had been declared dead, thrown away like garbage, and yet, somehow, he was still breathing. A faint smile spread across his face as the realization sank in. He was alive. Despite everything they had done to him, he was still alive. However, his brief moment of relief didn't last long. Azrael looked around, taking in his surroundings. Only then did he notice that he was in the middle of an enormous forest. Towering trees stretched in every direction, their thick branches and dense canopies blocking out much of the sky. Faint roars occasionally echoed through the distance, filling the forest with an ominous atmosphere. "Magical Beasts..." His smile slowly faded as the reality of his situation dawned on him. He had somehow returned from the dead, only to find himself stranded in an unfamiliar forest teeming with magical beasts. Rustle! Just as Azrael was taking in his surroundings, a sudden rustling came from the nearby bushes. He instinctively turned towards the sound, but before he could make out what was hiding among the trees, a shadow shot out of the undergrowth and lunged at him. His body reacted on instinct. He hurriedly shifted to the side, narrowly avoiding a direct hit. However, the figure was faster than he had anticipated. A sharp pain tore through his arm as he stumbled backwards. Three deep claw marks ran across his skin, with blood steadily trickling from the wounds. "What the—?!" Clutching his injured arm, Azrael stared at the creature that had just attacked him. The moment he saw it clearly, his eyes widened in fear. Growl! Standing a few meters away was a large gray wolf. Its emerald eyes gleamed with hostility as it fixed its predatory gaze on him, baring its fangs in a menacing snarl. Azrael couldn't help but curse his terrible luck. It had barely been a few minutes since he'd returned from the dead, yet he was already facing the prospect of dying all over again. He slowly stepped backwards, desperately trying to put some distance between himself and the wolf. Meanwhile, his mind raced as he searched for a way out of this mess. Awooo! The wolf suddenly let out a piercing howl before lunging at Azrael, its massive body hurtling towards him with terrifying speed. At that moment, Azrael's eyes caught sight of a thick branch lying on the ground nearby. With little time to think, he snatched it up and swung it in a desperate horizontal arc at the incoming beast. BANG! The branch shattered upon impact, splinters scattering in every direction. However, instead of stopping the wolf, the collision sent Azrael flying backwards. He crashed into a nearby tree before falling heavily to the ground. The wolf barely seemed affected by the attack. It shook its body, dislodging the splinters caught in its thick fur, before turning its emerald eyes towards Azrael once more. Seeing the beast charge at him again, Azrael's face twisted in despair. His body ached from the impact, and he could barely muster the strength to move, let alone fight back.Latest Chapter
CHAPTER 13: Predator In the Dark
Not wanting to give the beast another opportunity to take the initiative, Azrael immediately launched an attack.Krrrzzzt!Black lightning crackled around his body before he channelled it towards his palm, unleashing several bolts that tore through the air, leaving dark streaks in their wake. However, just as the attacks were about to reach the panther, its figure suddenly blurred and vanished from sight. In the next instant, several panther-shaped figures appeared around Azrael, each moving at astonishing speed as they closed in on him from different directions."Again?!"Azrael frowned, recognising that the beast had employed its bizarre species ability once more.Knowing that they were merely clones, he didn't waste too much energy dealing with them, only destroying those that came too close. Although they were nothing more than copies, he had no intention of taking chances by testing whether they could inflict actual damage or if their ferocious appearance was merely a facade. How
CHAPTER 12: Unexpected Awakening
The panther was already inches away, its massive body descending upon him with claws outstretched. There was no time to escape, let alone defend himself.Just as he thought he was about to be torn apart, something stirred deep within him.In the next instant, the surrounding darkness surged to life, transforming into multiple tendrils that shot towards the panther and coiled around its massive body, binding it in midair.Azrael immediately scrambled away from the panther, not even waiting to understand what had just happened. In his haste, he lost his footing and slipped off the branch, falling several metres before crashing onto the ground below."Ugh!" He groaned in pain as he slowly pushed himself off the ground and struggled back to his feet.Just then—Crash! The sudden impact disrupted his concentration, causing the tendrils restraining the panther to disperse. Freed from their bindings, the beast also came crashing down onto the ground. However, it quickly regained its footing,
CHAPTER 11: A Night in the Beast Forest
Without wasting any more time, Azrael got to work. Using the lightning dagger, he began cutting into the brown-furred ape's skull. Before long, he had carved his way through the bone and reached the centre, where the beast core was located.Reaching into the opening, Azrael carefully retrieved the core and held it in his palm.Strangely, unlike the first time he had touched the beast core of the gray-furred wolf, the urge to devour the one in his hand wasn't nearly as intense. This time, he seemed to have some degree of control over his body's strange desire, allowing him to decide whether or not he wanted to consume it.Azrael pondered this for a moment before deciding to hold off on consuming the core. He still wasn't entirely sure why the brown-furred ape had been so intent on pursuing him, but he suspected it had something to do with the brief transformation his body had undergone and the mysterious violet aura that had emanated from him.Until he understood what was happening, it
CHAPTER 10: Beginning of Mastery
The flaming bird-like beast suddenly folded its wings and dove towards the ground at terrifying speed, its razor-sharp talons outstretched as it descended upon the brown-furred ape, seemingly intent on delivering the finishing blow. However, just as it was about to reach its target, a massive earth spike suddenly erupted from the ground, its sharpened tip pointing directly towards the descending beast.Given the speed of its descent and the sudden appearance of the spike, the bird-like beast had no time to change its trajectory or slow down. Before it could react, its body slammed straight into the pointed spike.Puchi! The spike pierced straight through its chest, sending blood spurting from the wound as its massive body was left suspended in midair. The flames engulfing its body began to flicker and gradually dim. However, just before they completely died out, they suddenly erupted one last time in a powerful burst, burning through the earth spike and causing the beast's body to cra
CHAPTER 9: Caught Between Beasts

With every powerful flap of its wings, it drew closer, its enormous figure growing increasingly clear. Azrael's expression changed the moment he caught sight of it.He now understood why the temperature had suddenly risen as the beast was completely wreathed in blazing flames."You've got to be kidding me!" Azrael muttered under his breath. He was already struggling to escape the terrifying creature pursuing him from behind. Now, another equally terrifying beast had appeared, leaving him caught between the two.Azrael was still lamenting his terrible luck when the flaming bird-like beast suddenly opened its massive beak. A gigantic ball of flames erupted from wit
CHAPTER 8: Strange Hunger
Azrael turned his attention to the wound, watching closely as blood steadily trickled from the gash. Then, something incredible happened.Within seconds, the wound began to close. The bleeding gradually stopped as the exposed flesh pulled together. He felt a strange tingling sensation beneath his skin as the damaged tissues knitted themselves back together, leaving no trace of the injury.Only after witnessing it with his own eyes did Azrael finally accept that he truly possessed regenerative abilities. However, a new thought suddenly crossed his mind. If I can heal wounds this quickly, does that mean I can regenerate lost limbs as well? His gaze instinctively fell on his fingers. For a brief moment, he considered cutting one off to test his theory. However, he quickly dismissed the idea.Although his experience in the facility had made him far less sensitive to pain, he wasn't a masochist who derived pleasure from mutilating himself just to satisfy his curiosity.Just as he was abou
