“Are you serious?”

“House Croft was trying to deceive one of the nine sovereign houses!?”

“Dont they know that it is a fate worse than treason, they are deceitful and vile if that was what they did…!”

Diane’s body shook as if she were looking at a ghost. It was a terrifying position to be in, and there wasnt anything she could do to cover the shame.

Simon slowly crept back, determined to protect his house's reputation and ensure that no one would make them feel inferior amidst the fallout.

But now?

Their mind games had been discovered!

Diane slowly broke down, desperately attempting to cover her tracks to prevent the situation from implicating her house further, fearing the potential fallout.

“Emrys…dont….do…this…”

Diane tried to hold Emrys again, but he moved back, trying to make sure they would stay feet away from each other.

“Save me the useless drama,” Emrys sounded bitter, voice cold and distant. “You knew exactly what you were doing, acting like a child when you got caught, won't win you any favors with me, and it is not in your place to even try to control me. I wonder, did your father talk you into doing something this stupid?”

Emrys didn’t even want to waste time there, almost like he was trying to pull away from them.

He pushed Diane slightly to the side as he made his way out of the party, but then the doors opened.

“Now, where are you going looking like that?”

A shrewd, crafty voice stormed in.

The look of disgust on Emrys' face widened as he looked at the man in front of him.

Bohrin Croft, Diane's older brother and the person who executed his father.

Emrys exercised a high level of self-control, knowing that he wanted to rip Bohrin’s head clean off his shoulder.

Bohrin looked past Emrys and saw Diane crying on the floor, bawling her eyes out.

"What did you do to her?" Bohrin growled at Emrys.

“It was all of her doing, common, don't act as if you dont know. I believe your family is all in on it…” Emrys smiled, about to walk out.

Bohrin pushed him back, looking Emrys dead in the eye. A bit taller than Emrys and also had a colossal build.

“You know,” he spoke, scratching his nose as he glared at Emrys.

"When you beg forgiveness, you'll hand over your sister. I'll treat her as she deserves," Bohrin sneered.

The once unfazed Emrys had a hint of rage in his eyes.

"What did you say?" Emrys asked, eyes narrowed.

Bohrin, feeling proud, laughed. Looking at Emrys, who seemed hurt by his words.

“Aww, did I hit a nerve? But I haven't done anything yet, the little baby Valin will be a nice whore for me, and I will love every—”

WHAM!

Bohrin crashed into the banquet tables.

Everyone panicked; it all happened way too fast.

Emrys struck Bohrin, sending him into tables.

“Brother!?”

Diane rushed to Bohrin’s side, trying to see if he was still alive. Thanks to heaven and Emrys's restraint, the man was still alive but barely conscious.

“Have you lost it?!” Diane yelled, turning to Emrys as she stood up, trying to see what was going on.

“Why would you want to kill my brother!?”

Emrys had a smile on his face, looking at Diane with the same cold expression.

“Now, there’s the person I was looking for…” he said, looking at her, fixing his robe, which had changed slightly when he struck Bohrin.

"You hit my brother and act innocent?" Diane snapped at Emrys.

“How strange, moments ago…you were bawling your eyes out knowing that I found your scheme…now you want to act like I hurt your brother, when he was pleading for it…”

Emrys shook his head. He moved past Diane.

“Pitiful…”

His legs had reached the door when he felt a strong grip on his shoulder.

“I dont enjoy being held like that,” he turned to see another person he didnt even plan on bumping into there.

Kyle Thorin…The A-ranked Awakened Ascendant…the one designed to serve as the replacement of House Valin's warriors.

“Hitting a member of a Noble House is a crime, and a serious one at that,” Kyle spoke, his voice authoritarian and cruel.

"Is that why you hold me? Have you no manners?" Emrys asked, raising a brow.

"You will apologize to Lady Diane and repay House Croft before the council intervenes."

“Kyle…” Diane called out; her cruel voice was gone, replaced with a crying, pitiful voice.

Kyle smiled at her, almost like he was a robot.

“Don't worry, Lady Diane, when I am here, I won't let anything or anyone hurt you…”

"Get your hands off me," Emrys growled.

Kyle turned to look at Emrys, a smile on his face.

“Now, why would I let you go? You disgraced Lady Diane in her party, caused a scene…then struck the member of a noble house, and you wish to walk away.”

Kyle moved close, flaring his Aether, trying to get Emrys to understand that he was far greater than him.

"You owe Lady Diane and House Croft an apology," Kyle said, cracking his fingers.

Emrys was looking at the man in front of him. He never knew the kind of man Kyle was until he signed the deal in his past life.

He was a vile, cruel, and fake stupid persona trying to prove that he was a powerful figure.

“I will never apologize to fools who tried to make me and my family their servants, and if you were any wiser…I would tell you to back away.”

Emrys tried to move away, but Kyle held him there, trying to prove a point to everyone at the party.

“Now, you have insulted a student of the Great Paragons…” Kyle held Emrys down, trying to crush him with his overwhelming pressure.

The entire banquet hall shook. Kyle was raising his Aether level, and everyone there could feel it.

“Shit, Kyle is trying to kill the Heir of House Valin…”

“I know the Crofts might have done wrong, but he should suck it up and apologize…!”

The crushing aether around them caused sparks, and Emrys hadn't even flared his.

“Is this what the Paragons have been training as the replacement of the mighty Valins?” Emrys smirked. He glared at Kyle.

His gaze sent chills down Kyle's spine; it was almost like he was being stalked by a beast.

“Pathetic, really. Resources wasted on someone who can't even stand,” Emrys said coldly.

Emrys didn't need to release his aether; he hadn't yet started his training, so his body would shatter if he did anything wrong. But that didn't mean he couldn't flare his ability, something he was cruel with.

Kyle couldn't breathe; his instincts warned him. If he attacked Emrys, he would die.

His grip slowly loosened as he took a step back.

"Kyle, are you letting him go?" Diane shouted.

“Don't let him walk away, he has to pay for hurting Bohrin!”

But Kyle couldn't scream or say what was happening. He had never felt that kind of presence, not even from his masters.

It was suffocating, and worse, it felt like the power of the Sovereigns…from the relics he had opened, he knew their aether and presence were enough to eradicate even S-ranked Ascendants.

Smiling, Emrys walked by, standing next to him.

"Take my advice: don't run a fool's errand," Emrys said.

Emrys spoke slowly, turning to Diane, who stood there looking at him with fear and hate mixed in her gaze.

“This is far from over, Lady Diane…”

Lord Hardley is truly special!” The women were rubbing themselves on Hardley, trying to get him to speak. Opening his eyes, Hardley had a smile on his face, looking at the ladies around him. “You kno

Emrys and Kai stood right outside the Valin Manor; Kai was getting ready to depart.“I will be heading back to the house to see if I will be able to awaken my vestige and be ready to help you. I have sent out word for the other heirs to get ready for the upcoming horrors.” Emrys nodded, looking at the young man in front of him, and there was something about the way he stood that caught his eye. “Kai, you need not worry about what is going to happen…” Emrys spoke, his voice clear that he had no fear, and it was going to be one of the oddest things if he were held down by anything else. “Keep your eyes on acquiring the vestige; we have something brewing in the shadows, and I can’t fight it all alone…” Emrys stretched out his hand and looked at Kai. He realized that there was one thing he did in his former life that made it even harder: it took him time to find allies. And when he did find one, he never let Luther get close enough. It was almost like he was pushing him away with ev

  • Divine Vestiges?

“So you mean that there are demons in the realm already, and we know nothing of it?” Kai was looking at Emrys; they sat at the table, thinking about what would help them with what was going on and how far it would take their heads, deep into the trouble right in front of them. “The chances are there, and we have not been trying to fish them out. So there is a good chance that we are dealing with something that lies deep in the heart of the realm.” Reed spoke, his eyes on the newly drawn map of the realm in front of them, on what it showed and what it meant. “We aren't dealing with something small, unlike what you wish or hope; this is far more sinister, and from what I can feel, it is more precise and straight to the point.” Kai stared at him, nodding, knowing there were far deeper issues to handle, and that the way it had shown itself was more disturbing than anything they had hoped for. “So what you are saying is that there is a good chance we have been dealing with them all t

The fight with the demon raged on, Emrys controlling his aether and movements, trying to make sure that he wouldn't destroy the buildings or lives close to them. Kai moved efficiently across the battlefield; there was something about the demon that left him void of words. ‘This thing…’ He thought to himself; soon he and Emrys were standing side by side. “The demon is taunting us; it hasn't used a powerful move yet because it believes that there is a chance for it to defeat us.” Emrys said what was on Kai’s mind; there was something rather fascinating about the attacks that made them feel even more threatening. Kai had a smile on his face, looking at the demon, knowing that there wasnt anything that would prepare anyone for the next battle. “Emrys, if we keep facing this demon here, then it would eventually spread out…” He pulled his spear down, staring at the monster right in front of him, and there was something about the way it held it up. The hands cracked, as if it were a
