Chapter 3.

Brooklyn punched the chair hard and groaned in anger.

Brooklyn was mad at himself, he was mad that he allowed Stacy to disrespect him to this extent before realizing he needed to take this step.

He didn’t want the life he was about to introduce himself to because he was avoiding family issues and he didn’t want to also attract enemies to himself and family but nevertheless he felt like it was something he could handle and beside no one has to know he was the one.

He felt his chest tighten and tears welled up in his eyes.

If only Brooklyn had listened to his mother about not marrying Stacy, he could vividly remember his mother’s word that very day.

“She is one of those gold diggers out there, I bet she’s after what you have.” Mrs. Ashland berated her son over his choice of wife.

“Mother, calm your horses…”

His mother had cut in. “No! It is you who should calm your horses down, I hope you don’t regret this decision later.”

What did they say about “mother knowing the best…”

And here he was, regretting his decision. His phone started to ring, he checked the caller and realized it was the manager to the Ashland Company and Co.

“Hello, Mr. Brooklyn?” The manager said on the other end.

“Is it ready?” Brooklyn asked, his voice emanating authority.

“Yes, you may come to the office now.” The manager said, “the driver will be with you shortly.” He added and hung up.

Finally, he was at the company, he headed straight to his father’s office, ignoring the greetings from staff he would be heading soon.

“My prodigal son!” His father, William Ashland said, smiling.

“That title isn’t for me.” Brooklyn stated as a matter of fact.

“Well, you are here now.”

“Hale and hearty.”

“I am glad you are.”

“Thank you father.”  Brooklyn said, clenching his jaw.

William Ashland took a long look at his son, his face remained straight, “I believe in you Brook, better than yourtwin brother, Blaze.”

“What is Blaze up to this time around?” Brooklyn knew that whenever that statement is made about his brother, he has done something wrong.

“He had been up to no good.” William said, hissing.

Brooklyn closed his eyes and shakes his head, “I knew it.”

“And that is why he’s not fit, he is in no good shape to head Ashland Company and co. I’d rather sell it off than will it to him.”

“But I am here now! Ready to take over the company, I am here to rule and continue in your footsteps, to create my own legacy.” Brooklyn stated, cracking his knuckles.

“There goes my son!” William said happily.

“I am your true son!”

“The lawyer will be here soon and this company will be legally owned by you. Congratulations in advance, son.”

It wasn’t long after that the Lawyer arrived and few minutes later, Brooklyn had signed the papers he walked out of the company with a new strategy in his mind.

He got back home and while he was packing up to move out, an idea struck him, he stopped packing and went to check in on his daughter who was already done packing her things with the help of the personal maid he chose for her through the help of his mother.

Olive had asked him why he wasn’t taking any of his stuff, he told her not to worry that he would come back for them later that he needed to help her get comfortable first.

It didn’t take longer than two hours for Brooklyn to be rich, his father had called the bank manager and unfreeze his accounts from years ago, when he refused to listen to do his bidding and now that he was back, his father didn’t just do more than unfreezing his account, another account was opened in his name and with the same information as the other bank account, his father willed money, shares and properties to him.

Brooklyn was grateful. He arrived at the pent house and helped his daughter settled down.

“Can I get new clothes, daddy?”

“Do you wanna go shopping?”

“Yes!” Olive squealed in happiness.

At thirty three, he had become a billionaire, he had wallowed in not being rich for twelve years and life had been so unfair just because he chose to be alone and well, Brooklyn closed that chapter of his life and now, he was about to begin new chapters.

After his daughter had left with her personal maid to go shopping, it was time to get his plans into action.

He dialed a number and waited patiently for an answer, the person picked on the second ring.

“Brooks baby.”

“Blaze baby.”

“How long has it been?” Blaze asked.

“Coming from someone who’s off the grid.”

“I know right. I’ll be home soon.”

“Your anthem hasn’t changed.” Brooklyn chuckled, every time Blaze said he would be home soon, it wasn’t entirely true, in fact, don’t believe him.

Blaze laughed, “Whats up, doppelgänger?” He cleared his throat, “get yo mouth off my dick! You slimy whore, I’m on the goddamn phone with my bro.” He yelled at only God knows who.

“Take it easy.” Brooklyn said, facepalming.

“I’m listening.”

“I need your identity.”

“But you are my identity.”

“Blaze, I’m serious.”

Blaze became serious, “What’s going on?” He asked, his voice held some seriousness.

“I am now the CEO of Ashland Company and Co.”

“Congratulations Brooks! You deserve it.”

“Thank you. It’s yours too.”

“You’re the real owner. I ain’t got time for that nine-five shit, that suit life is not mine.” Blaze admitted, hissing.

“There are people I gotta deal with.”

“So you wanna be me as a rich man and you as your normal self.”

“You got it.”

“Anything for you man. I am not even Blaze Ashland where I am.”

“What do you mean?” Brooklyn asked.

“I do things my way, and I don’t stay in a place for a longtime, what’s the whole point of using my real name if I attract people to myself. You know me, Brooks, I’m heavy on protecting myself.”

“This is gonna be complicated, I hope I’m not making things hard for you?”

“Whatever you wanna do, I can make life easy for myself, just wear your hair how I like to wear mine.” Blaze burst out into a fit of laughter.

“That hairstyle is ugly.” Brooklyn hissed.

“Sasha told me so I changed it.” Blaze said, still laughing.

“Who the hell is Sasha?” Brooklyn asked but his brother had hung up the phone.

“Typical fucking Blaze!”
