CHAPTER 44

Chris's left side felt cold and empty, making him turn and toss in his sleep. Even in his semi-conscious state, he understood that something was wrong. Chris's eyes flew open.

Sarah was gone.

He slapped his head in frustration and he saw a note beside him. He presumed she was the one who wrote it. He rubbed his eyes as he battled sleep and read the note.

"Thanks for the free money and food, I will be taking your wallet. Catch you later."

Chris put the note down and smiled. She had also taken his car keys, his numerous credit cards, his warm jacket, and valuables.

Well, that was a gang leader for you. Once a criminal is always one. He wished he could see the feisty lady soon again.

The phone's screen came on because of him and he rubbed his eyes. His heart nearly flew when he saw thirty missed calls.
