"Relax, little Daniel, I mean you no harm. If I did, you wouldn't still be alive," Theodora whispered and smiled up at him.

Daniel cursed incoherently and took steps backward. "You are a witch and your words are not to be trusted. By the way, I'm not little. Can you not call me that again?"

Theodora chuckled and waved her hand in the air and a soft warm air began blowing around them. She took a thorough peek at Daniel and shook her head. "You're only but a kid to me, so I'll keep calling you little Daniel. You can't stop me, can you?"

Daniel stared away from her without saying anything knowing that there wasn't anything in the world that can stop her from doing whatever she wanted and liked. He wrapped his arms across his chest not being able to stop his shivering body and kept looking around at every sound that chimed.

"I guess that's settled then, little Daniel. Let's take a walk. I kinda need company."

"Why would I do that? I can't be seen walking around with a witch who does nothing but kill and destroy."

She scowled at him and he took more steps backward. "You do whatever I ask you to. I hope you don't provoke me because if you do, your family and perhaps your silly lover will pay dearly for it. And you will live all your life in regret."

Daniel sighed, caressed his cute chiseled face, and tousled his hair. Beads of sweat appeared on his forehead and trickled down his cheeks. "I'm so tired and was heading home. I've not seen my parents since the breaking of the day. I need to at least know they are fine from your...," he paused and zipped up his mouth.

Theodora grinned and winked at him. "It's good to know that you all have my name and actions playing on your lips. Now, let's go. I'm tired of standing."

Daniel, not having an option, sighed and trailed behind her not wanting to stand side by side with her.

"Come on, little Daniel. Come stand by my side so we will discuss while we go." Daniel increased his pace and in no time caught up with her. "Good little boy" she giggled.

They kept walking without muttering anything but she suddenly cleared her throat and took a second to peek at him before staring away. "What do you think about Hilton Bale, little Daniel?"

He cursed incoherently once more due to the word she was adding before his name and glared at the innocent air. "Hilton Bale used to be so peaceful and was a land full of joy and happiness. In those peaceful moments, we used to play from day to day not caring about harm. But then you came back and everything shattered. You spoiled everything. My people... Your people live in panic and pain. You brought sadness and death into our sweet land."

She shut her eyes for a while, glanced up, waved her head, and wiped her face. "What do you know about death?"

"It's a pain-filled feeling. Leaves people shattered and broken. It can also make one seek vengeance if being on the better side to. It's just a feeling one shouldn't really feel."

"Ever lost a loved one?" Her voice came out barely audible that Daniel had to stretch his ears to grab it. He took a glance at her but she looked elsewhere so he wouldn't see her face.

'Is she in pain? Why are her eyes misty?' he thought as he stared away."I haven't really lost a loved one. But I almost lost my parents to you."

Theodora let out a burst of startled laughter.

"Not funny!" He scowled at her and placed his hands in his pockets.

She glanced at him, wide-eyed. "Being courageous now, huh?" She laughed more.

"I'm not." Daniel sighed. "I'm shivering within me and just need to get away from you."

Theodora threw her head back and chuckled without saying anything and everywhere became silent.

"Is..Is the rumor true?" Daniel suddenly stuttered, breaking the silence.

"Which rumor?" She asked, fidgeting with her fingers. She knew what he was asking but decided to pretend not to know just to prolong their conversation and also get him to say it.

"About your parents. Rumour has it that they were murdered by our fathers years ago. Are they really dead?"

Theodora breathed out and turned away from him, ignoring his question.

"Sorry for bringing that up. But when will you stop killing?"

An evil grin appeared on her face and she waved her hands in the air as if commanding a choir. "I'll stop killing when every soul in Hilton Bale is gone to the afterlife."

"Including me?" Daniel asked and his breathing quickened.

Theodora chuckled and clapped her hands. "Including you Daniel. You all will die."

Daniel flared up, clenched his fists and kicked the air. "Why are you so wicked and brutal? Don't you have even an atom of conscience? So despicable!"

Theodora let out a tight-lipped smile and squinted her eyes while shaking her fists.

Daniel instantly shuddered and drifted away from her, keeping a very considerable distance between them. A great wind began blowing around her and her hair began flying around.

Her eyes turned blazing black and her body began glowing. "You all will surely die! Your deaths have been written in the depths of my heart and even in the sky!"

"I'll never let that happen!" Daniel not being able to control his emotions, roared.

"You?" Theodora laughed and crossed her arms. "Might be your parents next, little hero. I'll love to see you weep in anguish! I'll love to see you scatter things out of rage! And all I'll do is laugh and celebrate."

"I'll fight for my people. I'll be their hero. And I promise you that one day you will surely be on your knees and beg me for mercy because I'll surely defeat you!" Daniel barked, pointing at her.

"Many have tried and failed over the years. You can still try. It was nice speaking with you, little Daniel or should I say little hero?" She giggled and vanished. A bolt of great lightning flashed at her departure giving space for a great downpour.

"Help me, guys. I can't carry him alone" Daisy directed at her parents and like if they knew she was gonna say that rolled their eyes at her."Thought you're all-powerful and great. Carry him yourself then, baby girl," her mum mumbled, keeping her gaze away from her.Daisy's jaw dropped and her mouth hung open as she stared at her mum with one brow up. "Do you really mean that, mum? Like, are you fucking serious?""Yes I am," her mum retorted and eyed her."Ain't you gonna say anything, dad?"Her dad shrugged off and fiddled with his fingers for a while before staring at her. "For the love I had for Daniel when he was alive I'll help you carry his body, not him. Is that okay with you?""Whatever." she rolled her eyes. "At least you gonna help me not like some people who don't want to."Her mum chuckled, strolled to her, and smacked her head."Ouch! What was that for?" She whined rubbing the spot she smacked her."That's for thinking that I'll let you both carry Daniel's body alone. Do

Tears kept trickling down their cheeks as everyone made a slight bow to dead Daniel's body before he or she leaves. Most of their clothes were torn in several parts and dripped with blood and sweat.Husbands held their sobbing wives in a warm soothing embrace while trying their best not to cry cause they wanna be strong for them but for the first time failed woefully. Both husbands and wives sobbed feverishly like little kids not minding their age.Once they all left Mr. Robert and his wife strolled to their daughter in tears too and helped her stand. • AWAIT MY NEXT VISIT

"You deserve to die!" Another voice shrieked from the crowd. "You're the most foolish being I've ever seen in my life..." "Ugly asshole..." "Loser..." While all the taunts and curses were going on Daniel kept calm and didn't even do like he could hear them. He took his mind to the last words of Theodora which was 'good luck on your quest' as his mind sought for answers. "What quest is she talking about?" He breathed staring at the ground. "Does she in any way know of my desire to go find the wizard or was she just talking about my challenge?" He ruffled his hair in obvious frustration, stood up from the ground, dusted his body, and stared at the dead bodies all over the arena as tears trickled down his cheeks. Adhering to his instinct which was pushing him to touch the babies he strolled to them and touched those without heads as much as he could and walked away sobbing lowly. A sudden wind hovered over the babies that he touched immediately he walked away and after the wind

  • CURSES AND TEARS

"Why does she have to do this!" Daniel uttered profanity as he ran so fastly until he came before the weeping people who had their dead babies in their arms. All of them had swollen eyes and soaked up torn clothes. Their clothes dripped of both tears, sweat, and blood.'I don't think father explained this so well. Havoc is just a little word to consider the sight before me right now' he surmised and didn't even know when his knees hit the ground as tears flowed freely from his eyes and clouded his vision.Daisy and her parents arrived at that instant and shook their heads at the sight before them as a heart-wrenching pain coursed through them. They strolled to Daniel and raised him.Just as Daniel stood up with the help of Daisy and her parents he thought of Theodora and started wondering where she might be.Not getting answers from his thoughts he looked far behind the people and there she was still killing and ripping babies with a huge scowl on her face and a smile on her lips.He

  • RIPPING AND KILLING

"Can I sit beside you?" Daniel inquired of Daisy who was sitting on the bed with her head in between her knees and ruffled his hair. For more than three minutes he has been standing at the door not knowing what to do.Several times he opened his mouth to talk but nothing came out. It actually took him a lot before he mumbled that. And from his expression, it's so obvious that's he's so tensed up.Daisy raised her head, glanced at him, slowly bobbed, and lowered her head back in between her knees. He wiped his face and settled down beside her. "I'm sorry for shouting at you. I didn't mean to. Please don't be mad at me" he mumbled and tried to hold her hand but she shifted it away from his grip."I've no reason to be mad at you" she retorted coldly without raising her head. "It's your life anyway and you can live it anyhow you want. And I'm so sorry for shouting at you. My emotions got the best part of me. I don't even know why it did. I'm sorry though.""Daisy" he called and tried to h

  • THE MALE BEHIND THE CLOSED WALL

"What did you just say, father?" Daniel asked with a broad smile."I said what if he's in allegiance with Theodora? Like, what if both know each other? What if they are friends?""What if he's not? Our problem is that we conclude a lot father. Like, what if they haven't even seen each other before? What if they are so far apart from each other?""You are also not sure baby. Going to that wizard is 90-10% chances. You have a 90% chance of death and 10% chance of survival.""If that is the risk I have to take to free Hilton Bale from Theodora then to be frank I'm willing to take it, baby. I'll do everything in my power to send that wicked witch to where she belongs. Which is six feet beneath the surface.""Hmm," Mrs. Ryleigh exhaled, stood up, and strolled to him. She cupped up his jaw and stared into his eyes. "You're like a son to me even though you are my daughter's lover Daniel. I love you as much as I love Daisy if not more. I can't sit back and watch you walk into your death. Nope
