Chapter seven

Psssssssch!!!

Almiron opens up a can of cola as he sat alone at the eatery.

He takes a sip and as he puts the can of soda down his eyes were glowing bright green again.

He looks around the eatery and noticed that they were a lot of spirits there, that wasn't a new thing for him as he had gotten used to the fact that he could see the dead, at that very moment strange thoughts started to go through his head as he asks himself questions.

'Its not a good idea to talk to spirits, you never know which is good and which is bad."

'What if a spirit possessed me and I don't know?'

'Are my memories really my own, could they be someone elses?'

He started to get worried about what could possibly happen if he talks to a spirit, but at the same time, the desire to communicate with them grew more and more. His thoughts were interrupted as he heard someone coming up from behind him.

"You just couldn't wait."

Almiron turned around and found out it was zayn

"Cool contacts, I never knew you liked green." He said while taking a seat.

"Huh?" Almiron said with a confused look

"Your eyes..." zayn replied

'SHIT!' Almiron said In his head as he only just remembered that his eyes were still glowing green and zayn saw them.

"Right..... yeah i decided to try something new."

Thankfully zayn thought almiron was only wearing contact lenses.

"Hope it's not bad?"

"ehhrrr its alright." Zayn replied

'Guess like I'll have to keep this up for a while.' He thought to himself once more

"And maya?" Almiron asked zayn

"Texted her a few minutes ago, shes gonna meet up with us."

Maya came out of her study room and then she heard someone calling her from behind

Daxon ran up to maya and said

"Hi, I... I've been trying to talk to you." He says while panting.

"Oh it's you again."

"Yeah it's me again, I'm daxon by the way."

He said while stretching out his hand looking for a handshake.

"And I'm gonna leave now." She said turning around and was about leaving when he stopped her.

"Maya please wait."

"Ok and it's not weird how you know my name." She says with sarcasm

"Look I have somewhere to be so what do you want?"

"I'm here to ask you about your friend." He replies

"What friend?"

"The guy, I was there, remember?"

"No I don't, now if you excuse me."

She then walks away

"WAIT!"

"Hmmmm yes..."

"Can we be friends?"

'Its been almost half an our and I already feel disgusted seeing spirits all around, how do I then last the whole day.' He sighed and looked to the entrance as maya walks in.

She walked in and as the door was about closing something came in behind her.

Almiron took one more look and saw it.

"Huh?"

Almiron was the only one able to see this entity that was following maya because of his eyes, but this wasn't just any other spirit....

This one was different, dressed in an all black garment this entity was a reaper.

As reapers were entities that guide souls into the afterlife they don't normally make themselves visible.

Almiron wondered why something like that would be following maya.

The entity stood by the door and watched her.

Zayn got up and was heading towards maya who was also approaching them, when they were in front of each other they both smiled and hugged.

He stared towards the door and noticed that the reaper was gone.

"You have no idea how long I was waiting." Zayn told maya

"You just texted me ten minutes ago."

"Exactly."

Maya chuckled and sat down next to zayn.

" hey al."

"Sup." Almiron replied

"Oh... nice colour, it suits you." She said to almiron referring to his eye colour.

"Thanks."

"Let me get something to eat." She says while getting up.

"Sure but dont get for me, I'm filled up." Almiron said to her.

She comes back with lunch for her and zayn and takes a sit as zayn thanks her.

Then a teenage boy with an axe to his head walks by their table and that draws almiron attention.

As the spirit walked by their table almiron followed its movements, focusing on the spirit as if it were real, meanwhile in reality there was nothing there.

This bothered maya abit at that moment because almiron was basically looking at something that wasn't there.

"Hello...." she says trying to grab his attention.

"Were you even listening?.." she says again.

"Huh?.." almiron says with a confused look on his face.

"Jeez man, what got your attention this time?" Zayn said to him.

"It's nothing." Almiron replied

Maya felt as if something was wrong with almiron, as if there was something different about him.

"Nowadays your always thinking of something."zayn said

"Anyways as I was saying, the government has been discovering freaks with weird abilities, and they new about this and hid it from us." He says while picking up his apple

"Really? And what kind of abilities?" Maya asked.

"The kind of things that defies nature."

"So like superpowers?" Almiron says

"Yup."

"What kind?"

"Well... a few weeks ago, the president was having a speech and as the camera panned over the crowd a guy was caught on camera doing something strange."

"What was he doing?"

"I'm getting there." Zayn replied

"Anyways, this guy had a weird tattoo on his left hand, the camera caught a shot of it, and after that he just disappeared." Zayn added.

'Great so he thinks were freaks.' Almiron thought to himself.

"So what strange things was he doing before he disappeared?" Maya asked.

"That's the thing, it didn't look like anything at first, he was just standing there looking up at the podium, but then the video gets shaky and the camera starts zooming in on him, and after that the guy was gone." Zayn said

"Dude superpowers ain't real, probably it was an act or something." Said almiron.

"Nah they wouldn't do an act in front of a presidential speech, it has to be real." Zayn says to almiron.

While they were discussing the eatery door opens and someone walks in.

He walks in and grabs the attention of maya as he walks by.

Almiron noticed the same guy she was staring at.

He noticed how she gave off an uncomfortable look just by staring at the guy.

"Hey guys, look over there, that’s the same guy." Maya said while pointing towards him

"Same guy what?" Zayn says.

"He was in the library yesterday and he spilled soda all over me and now he's here." She adds.

"I don't know maya, maybe you should have another look." Almiron says sarcastically.

He walks up to the food counter and placed his order.

"I think his name is Calvin, you like him?" Zayn says Jokingly

Maya gave zayn a weird look and then said

"Can we leave? Seeing him just changed my mood."

"Ok I think were done here, c'mon let's head back to class." Almiron said as they all got up.

They were all done with their class and zayn and almiron had gone home, while maya was leaving the campus she noticed that daxon was walking back and decided to give him a ride.

She rolls down her window and says.

"Hii, need a ride?" She asked him.

"Sure." He says with a fake smile on his face.

It was obvious that daxon had an ulterior motive and because of that he decided to just play along.

She pulls over and he opens the door and enters then she drives off.

"Where do you live?"

"Not far from here." He replied

"Ok."

"So, are we friends?" He asked her

"I don't know, maybe." She says jokingly

"Oh ok."

"I guess we are." She says as she turns towards him and gives him a smile.

Almiron laid on his bed thinking about what zayn said back at the eatery.

'At this point it I tell them will they tell the government?..' strange questions started filling his mind.

Then he gets up and takes a sit at his desk.

He opens his computer and once more he starts searching for people with abilities on the internet.

And to his surprise he finds more videos of what he searched for on the internet than the last time he checked it.

And he decided to check the latest update of how a man with the ability to manipulate flames known as pyromancy was killed while he was being brought in by a government organisation called the D.I.A.

In the video the D.I.A just found him and was ready to bring him in.

The pyromancer didn't want to harm anyone and was ready to come in peaceful.

As they were about putting him in a black van the agents noticed something weird on his dress.

They noticed that there was a red laser dot on the pyromancer chest, the red dot moved up all the way to his forehead and this raised an alarm as all the agents took cover because they figured the dot was from a sniper.

"Take cover everyone, theres a sniper in the area." One of the agent yelled out.

As the agents took cover the pyromancer stood there as none of his body parts could move.

He was frozen on the spot as he calls out for help.

"Help please help, I cant move." He says.

One of the agent quickly ran towards him and as he was about to pull him he noticed how stiff his whole body was.

"C'mon we gotta move!" The agent yelled out to him.

"I'm tryi-."

In front of the agent eyes the pyromancer head exploded before he could finish his words.

The agent stood there in shock as blood dripped down his suit.

After that a sniper shot went off.

Then the video stops.

after watching that video Almiron didn't really liked the idea of someone finding out he had abilities.

"This is crazy." He said

‘But why? Why would they kill him.’ He thought to himself.

A disturbing fact was that the shot was taking from over 20 miles away, surpassing the limit of every sniper rifle ever made.

He looks at the views and it had 3.7million views.

Everyday more and more people were finding out that there were people with extraordinary gifts around them and the government tried to hide it but they couldn't.

"Thanks for the ride, I really do appreciate." Daxon said while outside the car as he bent over to see maya through the window.

"Sure."

"So I'll see you tomorrow then." He stays upright and start working towards his apartment as he signals a peace sign with his fingers.

Maya drives off and heads home.

'This guy is weird but I guess he's not bad.' She thought to herself.
