CHAPTER 17

Nurse Betty shook her head. “Calm down, miss. Your father is alive.”

Stacey heaved a sigh of relief. Henry caught himself smiling.

“Your father is in the treatment room.” The nurse supplied.

“Got it,” Stacey replied and ran toward Henry. She grabbed him by the hand and ran out. She ran straight to the treatment room.

Her father was once taken there so Stacey knew exactly where the room was. It was upstairs, right on top of the ward. When they there, Stacey noticed that the door was open so she simply barged in.

She was taken aback by the spectacle before her. Her poor father was the only one in the room. He was in a wheelchair, crouched in a corner breathing heavily.

Stacey quickly let go of Henry’s hand. “Dad! Are you okay?”

The old man slowly lifted his head.

“Why are you the only one here?” She rushed to him and knelt in front of him. She began to sob.

When patients are brought to the treatment room upstairs, it means they were in need of urgent care and the room is mostly
