Amanda adjusted the collar of her cream blouse as she stood outside the grand hotel. She wore her pretty high heels and walked on the marble floor with the confidence of a queen, but inside, her heart was pounding.

This had to work.

She had done her homework. She knew that Devin was holding a high profile meeting today, and she had even memorized the names of the executives he was supposed to meet. In addition, she had managed to spot them as they arrived, and they looked clean, old money types, with expensive suits and colognes that lingered in the air.

These were exactly the kind of people she once dreamed of surrounding herself with, and so she timed her entrance just perfectly.

She approached them as they reached the elevators, her stomach sticking out ever so slightly under her trench coat.

She was nervous. One of the men was a high ranking member of the IMF, and the other was a powerful brother of the president. To be in their presence…

“Good afternoon.” She said, flas

Amanda didn’t know how long she had been walking. Her feet were burning in her heels, and her thighs were very sore from Luther’s roughness, and her pride? Oh that had left her hours ago. The only thing keeping her going now was rage. Blinding, bitter rage, and a bit of hope. Wherever she went, they were always people to call her names and take photos of her. The most pleasant ones were the ones who stopped to stare and whisper, as somehow, they news had gotten round. Amanda was now #1 most hated person in the country. A young man stopped her, staring into her eyes. She tried to walk around him but he still blocked her way. Frustrated, she stomped the ground. “What do you want?” “I want to fuck you.” He said brazenly. “Are you crazy? I’m not a whore!” “Everyone else says otherwise. Or is it money you want?” He asked, waving his card in her face. Amanda groaned as he took a picture of her. “I can goon off to this later.” He was about to side stepped her when in r

  • CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND ELEVEN

Amanda sighed, looking around to see that she was still getting scornful glances. Everyone has rejected her. Society, Luther, and even her own mother. Had she been wrong to kill Steve? If only for a while, she could have— she wished she could change the hands of time, but that was impossible. All she had now was herself. She bent down to pick up her phone and it started to ring immediately. Luther! She gasped when she saw the caller ID, and was about to pick it up when someone bumped heavily into her, throwing her into the ground. “Watch the fucking road!” She screeched. The guy who had pushed her just looked at her scornfully. “I just put you in your place, whore!” “Your mother!” She swore, picking up the phone. “Your sex tape wasn’t even good!” Amanda’s cheeks flared up and she picked up the call. “Hello.” Her voice was as meek as possible. “You bitch! I can’t believe you had the audacity…” Luther was beyond furious. “I can explain, please. That… that wa

Amanda tugged her coat tighter around her body as she walked out from there, barely holding on. She couldn’t believe how he had embarrassed her, and had the audacity to throw her out again. She held back her tears and looked back at the hotel one last time before walking away. There was a time when people would clamour for her presence, but now… she was old news. She threw her scarf on the ground in annoyance and stepped on it, and a few people stopped to look and even made videos of her. A uniformed man walked up to her. “You can’t be doing that on here, ma’am. I’d advice that you go somewhere else.” She yanked her arm from his hold. “I can have you sued for harassment! Can’t you see that I’m having a bad day?” She yelled at him. “I’m sorry about that, but you can’t do that in this place.” She slapped him. “Do you even know who I am?” She walked away, leaving the perplexed officer holding his face in confusion. She went to the mall. Shopping was good. Shopping was

  • CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND NINE

Amanda stumbled as Dreykov shoved her through the meeting room doors, her hair slightly out of place, and her heels clicking aggressively on the floor as she tried to find her balance. But even with security waiting at the end of the hall, she didn’t shut up. Instead, she whipped around, her eyes burning with rage, and then she looked directly at Kia. "You think you're so tough, huh?" Amanda spat, voice sharp enough to cut glass. "Walking around like you’re royalty just because Devin’s got his arm around your fake ass.” Kia didn't even react. She simply folded her arms and stared back, quiet as a rock. Her eyes as hard as one too. Amanda pointed a trembling finger at her. “You think this is going to last? You think that that man is going to stand by your side forever? Ha! Bitch, please. No man stays loyal forever, not even to sweet little princesses like you.” Dreykov stepped forward. "Move or I’ll throw you.” Amanda ignored him. “You’re not special!” She screamed l

Amanda wore all black again, but she wasn’t dressed to represent grief. It was strategy, for now. She adjusted her oversized sunglasses as she stepped out of the Uber and walked into the back parking lot of Matt and Clarke’s Diner. The location was quiet, the kind where no one asked questions if someone cried or screamed. A place with too many shadows for just one time. She rolled her eyes, of course they would meet up in here. Steve was already waiting, leaning against a shiny pickup truck like he was the king of somewhere that didn’t exist. He wore a cheap leather jacket, and his expression was exactly as Amanda remembered. He looked like a little schoolboy who had grown wings too fast, like he was expecting women to fall over him. “Well, look at what the wind blew in.” Steve smiled, straightening up. “You actually came here.” “I didn’t come here for small talk.” Amanda kept her distance. “We need to get some things straight.” “Go on.” He folded his arms, smirking.
