“I see it!” Joanne shouted excitedly, instantly drawing Jackson and Smith’s attention.
“What do you see?” Jackson asked, still busy fighting off the zombies attacking him, ignoring the system screen in front of him. “These zombies keep emerging from the ground. The more we fight them, the more they multiply,” she explained. “Then what are we supposed to do? We can’t just stand here and wait for them to attack us.” Jackson kicked a zombie that nearly bit him, then turned to fend off another from the opposite side. While Jackson and Joanne were busy fighting, Smith was trying to open the instructions on his screen. One persistent zombie kept interrupting him, causing him to fail repeatedly in tapping the interface. Smith retaliated, throwing punches and using every move he could to weaken the enemy. Suddenly, a zombie attacked him from the side and bit into his upper arm, making him wince in pain. “Shhh…” Smith tried to stay calm and fought back. His arm throbbed, and blood soaked through his shirt. He quickly tapped the screen, trying to find a way to defeat the zombies. Only two options appeared—he chose the second. A new screen popped up, revealing the quests they needed to complete for Level One. --- ` View Mission [✓] Zombies are surrounding and attacking you from all directions. To escape, you must find the hidden button that opens the gate to Level Two. This button is concealed in the darkness and can only be seen using a special item obtained from your reward. Your quests for this level: 1. Defeat at least 100 zombies (43/100) 2. Find the button that leads to Level Two 3. Obtain your first Kane Collection item *Note: Avoid being bitten by zombies. A bite = becoming one of them. The effects of a zombie bite last for less than one hour. If you don’t receive help within that time, you will die and turn into a zombie.* --- Smith froze as he read the note at the bottom of the quest screen. He glanced at his bleeding arm. Trying to stay calm, he tore a strip from his shirt and wrapped it tightly around the wound. “The most important thing now is not to let them know. I have to find the cure so I can survive… and save Kay,” he thought. Smith turned to Joanne, who was wearing the Owl Glasses. “You!” he called out, pointing at her. Luckily, Joanne turned to him. “Use the item you received to find the button that leads to the first Kane Collection.” “The button?” Joanne repeated. “That button will open the gate to Level Two,” Smith explained. Joanne nodded in understanding. “We have to work together. If we want to make it out of here alive, we need to cooperate,” Smith urged. “You’re only saying that so you can get us out and ditch us in the next level, aren’t you?” Jackson glanced at him briefly, then resumed fighting the relentless zombies. “Let’s put our rivalry aside for now and work together to escape,” Smith insisted. “That’s exactly what we need to do. We must stick together to get out of here. It’s all written in the game rules I read,” Joanne replied, scanning the area. “I found it!” she exclaimed. “Where?” Jackson asked. “It’s far from here—straight ahead, at twelve o’clock. But it’s located very high up. We’ll need to climb to reach it,” Joanne described what she saw. “That’s the second mission completed. Now we need to defeat 100 zombies. I’ve taken down about 43, and there are still more coming. I’m not sure if your systems show the same count.” “My screen shows 59 out of 100,” Jackson said, quickly checking his system. “That means each of us needs to defeat around 100 zombies to complete the mission,” Joanne said, kicking a zombie that lunged at her. “We need to move!” Smith shouted. “What do you mean?” Jackson asked, confused. He jumped and kicked a zombie square in the face, knocking several down at once. “We can’t keep fighting in one spot. We need to move to reach the button and find the Kane Collection.” “Then let’s go! Follow me!” Joanne led the way, fighting off zombies alongside her teammates. They arrived at their destination. “This cliff is really high. We’ll have to climb to reach the button,” Joanne explained. “I’ll go first. Then I’ll pull you up one by one,” Smith offered. Among them, Smith was the tallest and, judging by his appearance, clearly the oldest. Without hesitation, Smith began climbing, searching for footholds while the others continued fighting. Next was Jackson. He climbed quickly and reached the top with Smith’s help. Once both were up, it was Joanne’s turn. She climbed slowly, but as she did, the zombies began swarming toward her, piling up like a mountain trying to reach her. Joanne was terrified. Her hands trembled, and she lost focus. She feared one of the zombies might grab her and pull her down. “Don’t look down!” Smith shouted. Joanne nodded and kept climbing. She was just half a meter away from where her teammates stood when suddenly one of the rocks beneath her foot crumbled. She nearly fell, but managed to steady herself using her other foot and both hands. She kept climbing. Just as she was about to reach the top, she felt a zombie grab her leg and yank her downward. “KYAA!!” Joanne screamed, startled and panicked. ---

Level 14 – Revival and Retrieval
Smith slowly opened his eyes, his head pounding. He lifted it slightly.“You’re awake?” Jackson muttered, immediately drawing Smith’s attention. Jackson was lying directly beneath him, far too close for comfort. Smith’s eyes widened in shock, and he instantly leapt back from Jackson.“W-what were you doing under me?” he stammered, staring at Jackson in horror. Jackson sat up from the ground, looking weary.“Don’t get the wrong idea—it was all because of you,” Joanne cut in, walking over and crouching beside them.“What do you mean?” Smith asked in confusion. Joanne grabbed his arm, pulling back the torn sleeve of his shirt to reveal the clear zombie bite on his flesh.“This. You were infected by a zombie’s bite,” she said firmly.“You… you knew?” Smith’s face twisted in shock. “Wait—does that mean…”“You turned into a zombie and attacked us,” Jackson replied. “Your body was impossible to restrain. You were far stronger than me—I could barely hold you down. Just staying conscious was a
Level 13 – Diamond Infection
Jackson was dragged, struggling to restrain the dagger as he gripped it tightly, but the weapon fought back harder against his grasp.“Stay still!” Jackson shouted in frustration. The dagger slipped free from his grip and soared high into the air. Jackson and Joanne could only stare upward in silence as it floated around the cave.“Damn it! That dagger is completely uncontrollable,” Jackson muttered angrily.“Do something!”“How?!” Jackson shot back, glaring at Joanne, who seemed to only bark orders without lifting a finger.“Chase it down and catch it! That dagger is the only way we can escape.”“Ah… if only Smith were awake and using his sword to help us. Instead, he’s passed out and completely useless. And on top of that, where’s his sword?” Jackson scanned the cave for Smith’s weapon, but it was nowhere to be found.“There’s no time left, hurry!” Joanne yelled.“Fine, I’ll get it!” Jackson sprinted after the dagger, finally managing to seize it. He calmed it down by stroking it ge
Level 12 – The Spider’s Core
“How can I defeat it and free Smith and Joanne?” Jackson’s body felt extremely weak, his energy completely drained. The giant spider’s power was far greater than the worms they had fought outside. It had already consumed most of Jackson’s energy—even though he had just replenished it.Jackson raised his bow and aimed it directly at the giant spider, firing multiple arrows in rapid succession. The spider’s attention shifted toward him, abandoning Joanne for the moment. It began moving slowly in Jackson’s direction.Jackson kept firing. “I need to think fast if I want to beat this thing,” he thought, trying to stay calm as he continued aiming. The creature drew closer. Jackson ran to the side—dodging was all he could do now to conserve what little energy he had left.He kept firing while running. The spider began launching webs at him. Jackson ducked to avoid them, causing the shots to miss.“Damn it! I need to hurry.” Jackson kept running, searching for a safe spot. But there was none.
Level 11 – Web of Terror
“Stay behind me,” Smith said to Joanne, who was frozen in fear. The three of them turned around, trying to locate the creature lurking inside the cave. But they saw nothing.“Maybe it was just our imagination,” Jackson said, beginning to relax.“Really? But I swear something was hiding in the darkness. Think about it—why did Smith’s torch suddenly go out?” Joanne asked, still uneasy.“There’s nothing here,” Jackson replied.Suddenly, the cave plunged into darkness. All three turned at once—and froze in shock. A massive six-legged creature stood at the exit, busy weaving its web.“A-a giant spider…” Joanne’s eyes widened. Other than geese, spiders were her worst fear. She hated them ever since a traumatic childhood experience.“It’s sealing off our exit!” Smith exclaimed, realizing what was happening.Jackson didn’t hesitate. He drew his bow and fired a flaming arrow at the spider. The creature turned, enraged, as the arrow struck its body.“O-oh no, it looks angry,” Joanne said, her f
Level 10 – Into the Cave of Shadows
“Are you okay?” Joanne asked as she reached him. “My energy is almost gone. If it runs out, I’ll die here and won’t be able to continue the fight. But I can’t die now—I still have to win so I can save Charis.” Jackson sat on the ground, exhausted. Joanne remained silent while Smith continued battling the worm. Joanne looked at Jackson, understanding what he was feeling. Even though they were competing to win, she couldn’t bear to let him die—especially before he reunited with the one he loved. She quickly searched her system screen, looking for something that could restore Jackson’s energy. “Thank goodness, there’s an energy pill in the medical kit I received.” She grabbed it. The bottle in her hand now held the very pills Jackson needed to survive. “These pills are extremely limited. I can’t give you too many. There are only five, and according to the description, just one pill can fully restore your energy.” “Alright, that’s fine. Just give me one,” Jackson said, eyes full of
Level 9 – Infection
“That’s not a mole,” Smith muttered. Joanne and Jackson turned to him simultaneously. “Then what—” Joanne’s eyes widened as a massive creature burst from the ground, writhing with its gaping mouth wide open. “ROARRR!!!” The monster lunged toward them. Jackson, Joanne, and Smith jumped aside, narrowly avoiding its attack. “Ahh—” Joanne winced as her body scraped roughly against the ground. “Is that the giant worm we were warned about?” Jackson whispered, eyes locked on the monstrous creature slithering toward them. “That’s definitely it,” Smith said, rising to his feet and gripping his sword tightly. He charged toward the worm. “ROARRR!!!” The worm retaliated, lunging at Smith. He dodged, leaping from one side to the other. “We can’t just stand here,” Joanne said, pushing herself up. “You’re right.” Jackson raised his bow and aimed a flaming arrow at the worm attacking Smith. He fired repeatedly, but the creature’s skin was too tough—it barely flinched. “What should I do?
