‘I-I did it!’

At this moment, Clinton felt like doing a happy dance.

Of course, doing a happy dance in a human body vs in a skeleton body was entirely different. In a skeleton body, it would only look creepy.

He didn’t care about all that at this moment though, he was just happy.

With 0.2 HP remaining, he only had 20 minutes to live in this world but all of a sudden, he managed to drag himself back from the deepest depths of hell, so why won’t he be happy?

At this moment, he felt on top of the world.

‘I did it!’

Just a minute later as he celebrated though, the 2nd Undead Tree finally fell down dead as it was consumed by the fire.

{You have killed a level 2 Undead Tree!}

{For killing two level 2 Undead Trees in quick succession as a level 0 Skeleton and due to the ingenious means that you used, you have received a reward!}

{You have received a new Passive Skill: Vampire!}

{NEW! Vampire!}

>By killing any enemy, both creatures of light or darkness, you are now able to take part of your victim’s health points to replenish your own<

{By killing a level 2 Undead, you have received part of your victim’s health points to replenish your own!}

{HP: 3/3}

All of a sudden, from the brink of death with only 0.2 HP, Clinton was suddenly back in peak condition again.

And this was all due to the decision to use his head.

Fire did the magic against opponents that were far stronger than him.

‘Hehe, I never thought using your head would be so exciting’. He thought with a big skeleton grin on his skull face. ‘I should use my head more or since I’m a skeleton now, should I say skull?’

Not only did Clinton level up to finally become a level 1 Skeleton due to the stunt that he just pulled, he gained a new passive skill and at the same time got his HP back to peak condition.

In his books, this was more than a win, this was a landslide win.

He was ecstatic.

Not letting this little victory to get to his head though, immediately after, Clinton sought another decaying tree before disassembling his skeleton body again to burrow under its roots to hide under the safety of its canopy.

There, he finally decided to check his system status again.

~________~

Clinton paid attention to two things.

First was his level that finally changed, now reflected as level 1 and the second was his strength attribute.

After leveling up the first time, Clinton expected some form of growth. He was disappointed though since out of all his attributes, only his strength growth experienced a growth of +0.1 by becoming level 1.

‘I truly am miserable,’ he thought mirthfully but still, he was satisfied.

After getting his first taste of being a predator for the first time since reincarnating into this world, Clinton could not lie to himself, it felt exhilarating.

He kind of loved it.

He wanted to experience that feeling again but first, Clinton paid attention to something else. ‘How does the level up thing even work?’ He thought.

By killing a level 2 monster as a level 0 skeleton, he was able to level up to level 1. But despite killing another level 2 monster as a level 1 skeleton then already, there was no difference, he remained stuck at level 1.

This brought the question, how does the level up process of this dungeon work?

To get his answer, Clinton needed to become a scientist and use the observation, experiment, and analysis method.

And well, to do that, he had to kill more.

That was exactly what Clinton did.

For the next few hours, stuck inside his new hideout under the roots of a decaying tree, Clinton stalked more monsters in this level of the dungeon and when he was confident of his chances, he attacked.

With his new skill, Vampire, he became even bolder and more emboldened.

By knowing 2 weaknesses of the Undead Trees already, their deafness and weakness to fire, he was able to isolate and kill another one.

{You have killed a level 2 Undead Tree!}

{You have leveled up!}

{You have become a level 2 low-tier Skeleton!}

A few dozen minutes later, Clinton had his first skirmish against a pack of the club-wielding Green Goblins.

Against 3 Green Goblins, one of them being level 2 while the other two were level 1, Clinton had the most intense fight of his new life since reincarnation.

They were weaker than the Undead Trees but unlike the trees who had such obvious weaknesses that could be taken advantage of, the Goblins didn’t have the same weaknesses, making them a much more formidable adversary for Clinton.

In the end, he had to cough a sizeable amount of blood and effort before he managed to kill the two level 1 Goblins.

{You have killed a level 1 Green Goblin!}

{You gained 0 XP!}

{You have killed a level 1 Green Goblin!}

{You gained 0 XP!}

***

From that battle, Clinton was able to learn a new thing.

He learned that there was no real value to killing monsters that were lower leveled than you because the dungeon programmed them to give 0 XP points to the killer who was higher-leveled than them.

Probably, killing only same-leveled or higher leveled monsters gave XP.

For the next few hours, Clinton experimented more to test his theory and after killing a few more monsters, he managed to confirm it.

By now, Clinton was even more experienced in the ways of this world.

‘I’m good at this thing, combating and killing monsters’.

Yes, he was good, really good.

Afterall, he was an athlete who once aspired to enter the UFC before he became the king of the track.

***

{You have leveled up!}

{You are now a level 3 mid-tier Skeleton!}

{HP regeneration has been upgraded!}

>You naturally regenerate +0.1 HP every 12 minutes<

***

By now, Clinton was able to learn a few more things about the leveling up system of this dungeon.

To level up, the process was simple, it was linear.

He was able to simplify it using a level 0 monster as an analogy.

As a level 0 monster, killing a monster 2 levels higher than you would enable you to level up immediately to level 1.

As a level 0 monster, to level up by killing a monster 1 level higher than you, you would need to kill two level 1 monsters to level up to level 1.

And as a level 0 monster, to level up by killing a monster on the same level as you, you would need to kill five level 0 monsters to level up to level 1.

This was the leveling up system of this dungeon.

After getting a result for his experiments, satisfied with his first day’s work after reincarnation, Clinton finally decided to rest properly in the roots of his hideout under the protective cover of the decaying tree.

The level 3 skeleton fell asleep.

    The fire had burned down to soft embers.The cold air of the War Realm crept into the ravine, brushing across rock, steel, and bone. A silence hung between the trio; not tense, but heavy. Weighted with unspoken truths and shared survival.Clinton had returned from his expedition to the territory of the Dreadjaw Tribe alive, and he revealed everything to them.That was what caused this tense silence between them after the initial argument. But there was something else in the tension, a truth hidden behind layers of blood and race.Clinton broke the silence.“We need to talk”.Vaelin didn’t move. Garrick looked up from the blade he was tending but said nothing.Clinton’s voice was quiet. “I’ve been patient. I didn’t ask questions when I should’ve. But now, I want to know”. He looked at them. “Why are you two after me? Why me? You didn’t just stumble onto my trail. You were tracking me. From the Monster Domain”.The die was cast.And now, there was no going back. Night cloaked the ravine in stillness, the fire Vaelin had managed to conjure flickering low in the ring of stone.Garrick sat near it, sharpening his blade with steady strokes, though his muscles remained coiled, ever ready. Vaelin stood nearby, arms crossed, gazing into the shadows beyond the ridge as though expecting monsters to crawl free of the dark.When Clinton returned, neither man stirred, but both took notice.He stepped into the firelight, quiet as ever, though something about his presence had changed.His gait wasn’t rushed or cautious. Rather, it was exposed, like someone who had walked through fire and returned with answers.“You’re alive,” Garrick said flatly, glancing up from his blade. “That’s a good start”.Vaelin’s eyes narrowed. “What did they say?”Clinton sat down beside the fire, letting the flickering warmth lick at his bones. “The chieftain, Grumak Skullspliter, knows I’m from another level”.The Human and Elf looked at him sharply.Clinton shrugged. “He calle

    The Dreadjaw encampment was chaos carved into order. Rows of tents made from beast hides and bone stretched along the uneven valley floor, surrounded by spikes, glyph wards, and pits lined with iron-tipped stakes.Fire burned at every corner, warriors sparred in blood-soaked rings, and the drums of war thundered endlessly.The stench of sweat, blood, and magic tainted the air.Clinton walked through it all, led by the shaman.All eyes turned to him, the skeleton cloaked in tattered robes, marked by silence and aura.Some hissed, some snarled, some even dropped to a crouch, unsure whether to pounce or kneel. But none attacked. The presence of the shaman warded them, for now.They reached the center of the encampment.There, a crude throne carved from the ribcage of a mountain wyrm loomed atop a raised stone platform. There sat the chieftain.DING!~----~[You have encountered Grumak Skullsplitter, Chieftain of the Dreadjaw Tribe, one of the 5 Orcish Tribes of the War Realm!][Level: 30]

    “I’ll do it”.Silence.A few moments later. “You sure?” Garrick asked.Clinton gave a hollow laugh. “I’m already a dead man in a world that hates me. What’s another risk?”Clinton was about to move on but as soon as a sudden mischievous thought entered his head, he couldn’t help it. Looking at the Elf and Human, a smile crept up his face which in his skeleton face only looked eerie.He grinned. “You know, I was a human once”.Garrick looked at him sharply, then he muttered coldly. “Good joke”.Clinton chuckled. “Take it any way you want, but that’s the truth”.“Besides, what’s so hard to accept? This skeleton, is it not that of a human?” He pointed at himself.Garrick looked at him coldly. “Skeletons are undead, hideous monsters of the World of Dark. You and your kin were created from the darkness. Even if you came from the remains of a human, the original soul is gone and resting in Heaven”.“So, no, you’re no human skeleton. You’re an undead”.“So serious”. Clinton chuckled.Convers

    After Clinton’s first cold lessons in the ravine with his teacher, Vaelin Duskwhisper, while he had a rest to recover from the exertion, Garrick finally brought up a new conversation.They couldn’t escape it, it was a conversation that they would have now or later. So, the human mercenary brought it up now.With a calm and even look on his face, he looked at them. “How do we move on from here?”The Elven assassin and undead skeleton looked up at him.Vaelin answered. “What do you mean?”Garrick looked at him. “This Orcish tribe”. He paused for a few moments, taking a dark look at the top of the ravine. “Obviously, we can’t go that way. We don’t have what it takes to beat that guy, and we won’t have it in a long time”.“And staying in one place is not an option either. Staying in one location in a realm we know so little about is a recipe for disaster”.“I agree”. Vaelin nodded.Garrick took a deep breath. “So, the only way to go is forward”.“From what we’ve observed about those Orcs

    The ravine, jagged and narrow, curled like a scar across the mountainside.It was brutal terrain; sharp rocks, thorn-rooted bushes, and the occasional growl from something unseen deeper in the shadows, but it was quiet. And more importantly, it was safe.Safe enough.Garrick slumped against the wall, chest heaving from the exertion of hauling two people through a nightmare.Vaelin sat nearby, cross-legged, arms folded tightly across his blood-caked armor. He hadn’t said a word since they stopped, just staring into the cold wind, silent and unreadable.There was a subtle tension between them. Afterall, they were yet to address the topic of previously kidnapping the skeleton.Clinton? He perched in the corner like a gargoyle, skeletal frame motionless, faint blue frost still wafting off his bones from the magic he had unleashed earlier. The battle with Gor’Zhul had nearly killed them… again.And yet somehow, they were still breathing. Or at least, two of them were.Finally, Vaelin broke
