"Slap her?"
The two security guards were stunned. They looked at Lucas, then at the angry Lily. They hesitated. After all, Lily was the General Manager, and this man... although he arrived in a Rolls-Royce, he looked exactly like the "loser husband" Lily often complained about.
"Are you deaf?" Lily screamed, her face twisted with rage. "This man is my ex-husband! He is a pauper! He rented these cars to fake his wealth! Throw him out immediately!"
Lily was confident. She knew Lucas's background perfectly. An orphan, a cleaner, a cook. How could he be the Chairman?
"Fake?" The guards exchanged glances. Their expressions turned hostile. "How dare you cause trouble here!"
One guard reached out to grab Lucas's shoulder.
"Presumptuous!"
A thunderous roar erupted from behind.
The CEO of the Wilson Group, Mr. Wilson, sprinted out of the building like his pants were on fire. He was sweating profusely, his face pale with terror.
Smack!
Mr. Wilson didn't hesitate. He rushed forward and slapped the guard across the face.
Then, he turned around and—Smack!—slapped Lily fiercely on her cheek.
The crisp sound echoed through the silent crowd.
"Ah!" Lily screamed, covering her burning face. She looked at the CEO in disbelief. "Boss? Why... why did you hit me? He is just a fraud..."
"Shut up! You blind idiot!"
Mr. Wilson roared, trembling with fear. He immediately turned to Lucas and bowed ninety degrees, his head almost touching the floor.
"Mr. King! I am sorry! I was late! Please forgive my subordinates for their blindness!"
The crowd went deathly silent.
Mr. Wilson, the tycoon of the city, was bowing to Lucas like a servant?
"Mr... King?" Lily froze. Her ears were ringing. "Boss, you made a mistake. His name is Lucas. He is my..."
"His name is Lucas King!" Mr. Wilson shouted. "He is the sole heir of the King Family! He just bought this company for 5 billion dollars cash! He is the new Chairman!"
Boom!
It felt like a lightning bolt hit Lily's head.
King Family? Heir? 5 Billion?
She looked at Lucas. He stood there calmly, his expression indifferent, like a god looking at an ant. The aura of nobility around him was something she had never seen in three years.
"No... impossible..." Lily shook her head frantically. "You washed my clothes yesterday! You cooked my soup! How can you be a billionaire?"
Lucas finally spoke.
"Because I loved you," Lucas said coldly. "So I was willing to be ordinary."
"But you threw that love away."
Lucas stepped forward, forcing Lily to take a step back in fear.
"You said we are from different worlds. You were right."
Lucas gestured at the magnificent skyscraper behind him.
"Yesterday, this was your world. Today, I bought it."
"So now, get out of my world."
Lily's legs gave way. She collapsed onto the red carpet. Regret, like a poisonous snake, devoured her heart.
She remembered the divorce yesterday. She remembered mocking him. If she hadn't divorced him... she would be the wife of a billionaire today! She would be the Queen of the city!
"Lucas... honey!" Lily suddenly crawled forward, trying to hug Lucas's leg. Tears ruined her exquisite makeup. "I was wrong! I didn't mean it! I was just testing you! Let's remarry! I love you! I really love you!"
"Don't touch me with your dirty hands."
Lucas kicked her away effortlessly.
He turned to the shivering Mr. Wilson.
"Three orders."
"Yes, Chairman!" Mr. Wilson pulled out a notebook immediately.
"First, fire her. And notify the entire industry: anyone who hires Lily Carter is an enemy of the King Family."
"Second, the 10 million dollar contract she mentioned with the Blackwood family? Cancel it. Bankrupt the Blackwood family within a week."
"Third," Lucas glanced at the crying woman on the ground one last time. "Have security throw her into the garbage bin outside. That's where trash belongs."
"Understood!"
"No! Lucas! You can't be so cruel!" Lily screamed as two guards dragged her away mercilessly.
Lucas ignored her screams. He adjusted his cuffs and walked into the building.
At the elevator entrance, a beautiful woman with glasses and a professional suit was waiting. She was holding a file.
"Chairman, I am your new secretary, Anna," she said with a blushing smile, her eyes full of admiration. "The board of directors is waiting for you."
"Let's go."
Lucas walked into the elevator, leaving the chaos behind.
The King had returned to his throne. And for those who betrayed him, the nightmare had just begun.
