Chapter 14
The news hit Valmont City like a financial nuclear bomb.
By noon, the financial news networks were screaming about the sudden, aggressive takeover of Valmont First National by a mysterious entity. By 2:00 PM, the Sterling Law Group and their real estate holdings went into a catastrophic freefall as rumors leaked that the bank was calling in half a billion dollars in loans.
At the Apex Estate, Arthur sat on his sprawling leather sofa, staring out the floor-to-ceiling windows at the city below. He held a crystal glass of bourbon.
His System interface hovered in his vision.

[MISSION COMPLETE: Eradicate the local threat.]
[Reward: System Level 2 Unlocked. 100,000 SP Generated.]
[New Feature: The Black Market Auction House (Underground Access).]
Arthur took a slow sip of his bourbon. He had done it. In less than forty-eight hours, he had gone from a penniless, divorced nobody to a kingmaker who had just eradicated a dynasty.
But instead of joy, he just felt a cold, sharp hunger. The Sterlings were small fry. They were big fish in a tiny pond. The System was pushing him to look higher. To look deeper.
"Sir," Vera’s voice pulled him from his thoughts. The assassin stepped gracefully into the living room. "The front gate security AI just alerted me. There is a woman at the gate. She is crying and refusing to leave. She claims she is your wife."
Arthur’s eyes narrowed. "Pull up the security feed."
The massive flat-screen TV on the wall flickered to life. Standing in the pouring rain outside the massive iron gates of the Apex Estate was Eleanor.
She looked entirely ruined. Her designer clothes were soaked, her makeup was running in black streaks down her face, and she was frantically pressing the intercom button.
"Arthur! Arthur, please, I know you're in there!" her voice crackled over the speakers. "I saw the news! Julian told me what happened! Please, open the gate!"
Arthur set his glass down. "Vera. Let her in. Bring her to the foyer."
Five minutes later, the grand wooden doors of the estate opened. Eleanor practically stumbled inside, shivering, leaving wet footprints on the pristine marble floor.
When she saw Arthur standing at the top of the sweeping glass staircase, looking down at her like a god descending from Olympus, she burst into fresh tears.
"Arthur!" she sobbed, running to the bottom of the stairs, though Vera stepped in her path, blocking her from ascending. Eleanor looked at the terrifying white-haired woman, then back up to Arthur.
"Arthur, I made a mistake!" Eleanor pleaded, clutching her hands to her chest. "Julian... he manipulated me! He promised me a partnership! I didn't know what I was doing. I was confused. But now I see the truth. He's a monster, Arthur! He threw me out of his car when the bank collapsed! He blamed me for everything!"
Arthur didn't move. He leaned against the glass railing, watching her perform.
"I love you, Arthur," Eleanor cried, trying to sound genuine. "We were married for three years! We promised each other forever! I can make it up to you. I'll quit the firm. I'll be a good wife. We can start over here, in this beautiful house!"
Arthur activated the Eye of Insight.
[Target: Eleanor Vance (Soon-to-be Divorced)]
[Loyalty to Host: 0% (Parasitic)]
[Hidden Thought: "If I can just get him to forgive me, I can secure half of this estate in community property laws later."]
Arthur let out a low, dark chuckle that echoed through the massive foyer.
"You really are a piece of work, El," Arthur said, his voice dripping with venom. He walked slowly down the stairs until he was face-to-face with her.
Eleanor tried to reach out and touch his chest, but Vera’s hand snapped out like a viper, gripping Eleanor’s wrist so hard she screamed in pain.
"Do not touch him," Vera hissed, her crimson eyes flashing dangerously.
Arthur waved Vera off, and the assassin released Eleanor, who stumbled back, cradling her bruised wrist.
"You didn't make a mistake, Eleanor," Arthur said coldly. "You made a calculation. You calculated that I was worthless. You calculated that Julian was your ticket to the top. But your math was wrong. And now you're bankrupt."
"Arthur, please! I have nothing!" she wailed, falling to her knees. "I have student loans! I have rent! You have billions! You can't just leave me to starve!"
"I paid your tuition for three years," Arthur whispered, kneeling down so he was eye-level with her. "I scrubbed toilets so you could wear designer suits. I gave you my youth. And you gave me a hundred-thousand-dollar check to walk away."
Arthur reached into the inner pocket of his jacket. He pulled out the exact same crumpled check Julian had given him two days ago. He dropped it onto the wet marble floor in front of Eleanor's knees.
"Here," Arthur said, his voice entirely dead. "Take your charity. Take it, and never show your face in my city again."
Eleanor stared at the check, realizing with crushing finality that it was over. The man who used to love her was dead, replaced by the ruthless billionaire standing before her.
Arthur turned his back and walked up the stairs. "Vera. Throw the trash out."

The dying Harvester monolith crashed into the Mediterranean Sea ten miles offshore, sending a massive, three-hundred-foot tidal wave racing toward the island of San Marcos.Arthur didn't even look at the incoming tsunami. He tossed the fading, useless shaft of the Spear of Genesis aside. The magnetic casing dissolved into violet dust before it hit the marble balcony."Vera! Hyperion!" Arthur shouted. Before the tidal wave could strike the newly rebuilt capital, Hyperion shot down from the stratosphere. The plasma-wrapped Vanguard positioned himself directly between the city and the ocean. It looked like a jagged wound in reality, bleeding a deep, terrifying violet light. From the rift, the weapon descended. It wasn't a gun. It didn't have a trigger or a stock. It was a six-foot-long javelin composed entirely of condensed, swirling anti-matter encased in a shifting magnetic field. It hummed with a low, bone-rattling frequency that made the hair on everyone’s arms stand on end.Arthur stepped forward and reached out."Master, do not touch it!" Vera warned, taking a rare step backward, her instincts screaming that the weapon was anathema to biological life.Arthur ignored her. He wrapped his bare hand around the magnetic shaft of the Spear. The moment his skin made contact, a violent surge of violet energy raced up his arm, intertwining with the

Chapter 55High above the Harvester monolith, Hyperion answered his Sovereign’s call. The plasma-wrapped Vanguard had been hovering in the stratosphere, waiting for the exact coordinate lock. He folded his silver-armored arms across his chest and plummeted directly toward the pitch-black surface of the alien ship.As he fell, Hyperion channeled the raw thermal energy of the upper atmosphere, turning himself into a localized, artificial sun. The heat radiating off his body spiked to ten thousand degrees. He slammed into the top of the Harvester vessel. The impact should have melted the alien hull instantly. Instead, a shockwave of blinding white steam erupted across the sky. The alien monolith wasn’t just armored; its hull was maintained at absolute zero. Hyperion’s nuclear heat collided with the ship's freezing perimeter, creating a massive, shrieking explosion of conflicting thermodynamics.Hyperion roared, driving his silver gauntlets into the black metal, trying to physically rip t

The Harvesters
Chapter 53The sheer impossibility of the ancient man's words hung in the stale air of the deep-sea vault."Explain," Arthur commanded. He didn't raise his voice. He simply let the Aura of the Sovereign bear down on the broken man.Host 409 let out a rattling laugh, completely unaffected by Arthur’s oppressive willpower. "Your aura doesn't work on me, boy. I bought that same skill twenty thousand years ago, on a planet whose name has already turned to dust."Vera’s grip on her blade tightened. Her crimson eyes darted around the cavernous room, scanning the shadows for a trap."The Infinite Wealth System," Host 409 wheezed, pushing himself up into a sitting position, clutching his shattered chest interface. "You thought you were chosen, didn't you? You thought it was a magical gift given to a desperate man who needed revenge."Arthur’s jaw tightened. "It gave me capital. I built the empire.""It's a filtration tool!" the ancient man spat, his dead gray eyes flaring with sudden, agonizi
The Abyssal Anomaly
Chapter 52The crushing pressure of the Mariana Trench was enough to compress a standard nuclear submarine into the size of a soup can. It was a lightless, frozen void where human ambition went to die.Arthur Vance wasn’t human anymore. He stood on the bridge of the Abyssal Leviathan, a deep-sea exploration vessel he had purchased from the Level 5 System Store for an effortless half-million SP. The ship was constructed from self-repairing dark matter and propelled by a frictionless gravity drive. It descended through the pitch-black water at terrifying speeds.Ares stood like a monolith at the back of the bridge, his red optics cutting through the dim cabin lighting. Nemesis hovered near the navigation console, her shadow-wrapped form completely unbothered by the crushing depths outside the viewport. Vera stood directly beside Arthur, her hand resting on her combat blade out of pure habit."Depth: thirty-five thousand feet," the ship’s automated AI reported in a smooth, synthetic voic
