Alex handed the signed divorce agreement to Dr. Lucy and asked her to keep it safe.

This angered Felicia even more as she thought she finally understood what was happening.

“So, you’re really with her now. That must be the reason you can sign the divorce papers so easily,” she grumbled, staring daggers at him. “You are nothing but a cheat! All you can do is trap gullible women to support your lifestyle, you pathetic scum!”

Alex put the pen back in his pocket and replied coldly, “Not everyone is like you, Felicia. Dr. Lucy is actually a really good friend. She has been a tremendous help to me when I was at my lowest. You probably would not understand.”

Dr. Lucy smiled and looked at Felicia. “If Mr. Verlaine wanted me, I would have agreed without a second thought. You are really unlucky to have lost someone like him.”

Robert immediately intervened to defend Felicia’s honor.

“Alex was always a dumb loser, but you should have known better. I thought you had enough sense in you not to step on the lion’s tail, but I was wrong. Now, you both will face my family’s wrath!” he proclaimed boldly.

Alex laughed at his threat. “We will continue this drama later, but for now, I have important business to attend to.”

Felicia scoffed as she heard those words. “What important business could a penniless loser like you have?” she mocked. “Are you trying to apply for the post of a male nurse or maybe a janitor?”

Alex didn’t bother replying. Instead, he and Dr. Lucy walked past them and approached the men standing guard near the staircase.

Felicia laughed louder, mocking their ignorance. “Oh, look, these fools want to go to the top floor! Huh! How could you hopeless losers get there if Robert himself could not get past the guards?”

Felicia smirked meekly, expecting Alex and his female friend to be thrown out at any moment, but what happened next caught her completely off guard, shocking her to the core.

Dr. Lucy walked right up to the men dressed in black suits and whispered something. The guards immediately moved aside and bowed, making way for her and Alex to go upstairs.

Just looking at their altered behavior made Felicia feel humiliated, and her face turned red. She couldn’t believe how these same men had obstinately insisted on keeping them away, stating that the top floor was off-limits for everyone, but now they had allowed Alex and Dr. Lucy to pass without any objections.

Unable to bear this humiliation, she turned to Robert to make things right.

“Do something! Those men allowed my useless husband and that woman to pass right through, but they had the gall to stop us!” she exclaimed, her voice rising to a fever pitch as she continued burning from within. “I don’t know anything. I just want you to get rid of these guards as soon as possible!”

Utterly embarrassed at the unexpected turn of events, Robert nodded. “I’ll do something right away. Don’t worry, my dove.”

Hailing from the influential Salasar family, Robert wasn’t accustomed to being pushed around, and he wasn’t going to allow a few guards to block his way.

He immediately dialed the Governor’s number and connected with his secretary.

“I am Robert Salasar. I need to speak to Governor Philip Du Mont. Give him the phone.”

“The Governor is busy. Please tell me what you need.”

Robert huffed and grumbled inwardly, but somehow controlled his anger. “Fine. I need some help dealing with a few idiots inside New Hope Medical Center. I need to know which fool had the audacity to bring his guards here and block the top floor.”

The Governor’s secretary put him on hold and asked him to wait a while.

Meanwhile, Felicia and her mother were already starting to get impatient. They had been here for nearly two hours, but the suited guards still refused to budge. Their only hope now was Robert Salasar.

A few minutes later, the Governor’s secretary returned to the call. But the words she said next shook the ground beneath Robert’s feet.

“I have confirmed that Edgar Warrington is currently admitted in the New Hope Medical Center. The Warringtons are an A-tier family from the Provincial Capital of Lichenstein. They have the fifth floor reserved for their family. I suggest you get as far away from them as possible if you do not want to land yourself in deep trouble.”

Robert’s face rapidly lost color as the Governor’s secretary continued speaking, her words completely straight and unfiltered.

“Edgar Warrington’s oldest son, Josiah Warrington, is there with his father right now. He is one dangerous man. You do not want to provoke someone of his stature. This is all the advice that I can provide. You’re on your own, Mr. Salasar!”

He cracked and spilled everything he knew.”As they listened closely, Raziya furnished all the details that Marcus had provided her. However, she insisted that they interrogate their captive again at a later time to see if they could wring out additional information.“Thank you, Raziya. You did well. But I don’t think our friend can handle another sit-down with you. Now it’s time to act upon the information and dig up their hideout.”Raziya crossed her heart with her left fist and bowed before stepping back. “Just give the order, and I will terminate the little scorpion right away.”“Taking out a few hi
