Chapter 15

The people stood in esteemed shock and watched in awe as the Garners unveiled the wedding gifts to Mrs Smith Senior.

“It seems that Mr Foley is not a match for Mr Stein and he will never be able to measure up to him. Imagine, he presented a golden statue that cost only five millions while Mr Stein presented a platinum statue that was worth five hundred millions!”

“Indeed, Mr Foley is just an ant before Mr Stein. The disparity is very wide and clear enough!”

“Mr Foley presented a two hundred million contract with the Foleys’ Group while Mr Stein presented a two billion contract with the Garners’ Group!”

“Are you still talking about whether Mr Foley junior would be able to measure up to Mr Stein right now? Can't you see that he would never measure up to him even in the future. Although the Foleys are mighty and powerful, Mr Stein has the backing of the Garners whose might, power and influence are no doubt the most powerful in the entire Vietnam City. Now tell me, who would dare go against the Garners and still remain alive? Absolutely nobody!”

“That's very correct. Even now, it's clear that Mr Foley has lost to Mr Stein. He presented a two hundred million contract with the Foleys' Group to the Smith’s family but Mr Stein gave them a contract deal with the Garners' Group that was worth two billion dollars.”

“I suggest that Mr  Jackson Foleys should just bear the shame and admit his defeat. He should also kneel down to beg for Miss Jade Smith’s mercy and favor. Maybe, just maybe, begging Miss Jade for mercy would make Mr Stein have a change of mind and decide to forgive him because of his love for Miss Jade Smith. This is because I can see that Mr  Stein’s earlier threat on him wasn't just an ordinary threat but a fatal one that has grave consequences.”

At that moment, the crowd was beginning to admire Aiden Stein while mocking Jackson for being very pompous when it was clear enough that he was the real inferior person.

Jackson’s face was utterly covered with shame and rancour. His inexpressive face was full of displeasure.

He was lost in deep thought and unable to find his way out of his mess.

He has clearly lost the challenge to Aiden and by now should be kneeling down and begging him for mercy in accordance with dictates of their bet’s terms and conditions.

Aiden smiled and said, “Foolish and useless Jackson, what are you still waiting for? Have you forgotten our bet? I expect you to be on your knees before Jade by now crawling and begging her to forgive you since you lost the challenge to me or do you still wish to continue?!”

However, Jackson ignored Aiden and only stared blankly at him in silence with an indiscernible and ambiguous expressive face.

Not only was Jackson confused at this moment, he was also reluctant to admit his defeat. He found it very difficult and embarrassing to shallow his shame and beg for Aiden's mercy. Doing that will not only make him lose his face, it will also water away his family's long prestige should words get out to the public that he begged the useless and crazy son-in-law of the Smith's family for mercy at a wedding ceremony.

Seeing that Jackson was reluctant and hesitant to admit his defeat, Jade’s anger was provoked and her face darkened immediately with a bizarre and consuming contempt.

“Jackson, didn't you hear what Aiden said or are you still acting tough?” Jade yelled disdainfully at Jackson and said, “The terms of your bet with Aiden states that anyone who loses the challenge must admit defeat, kneel down and crawl before the victor, address the victor as his father and abide by the decrees of his wish. Also the loser would also get mercilessly beaten up to death if the victor wants him. And in the bet, you said that Aiden can not present half of your wedding gift to my family. However, Aiden presented ten times of the gift items you gave to my family making him the winner and victor in the bet. Right now, it's expected of you to abide by the dictates of your bet with Aiden by obeying his commands and order!”

“Mr Foleys, you lost the challenge to Mr Stein. Kindly keep to the bet’s terms and admit your defeat!”

“Mr Stein is mightier than Mr Jackson Foleys. Mr Stein presented superior and more magnificent wedding gifts to the Smiths than Mr Jackson Foleys did, there Mr Stein is the winner and Mr Foleys is the loser. I demand you swallow your pompousness, admit your defeat and obey Mr Stein's order!”

“Yes, we demand that Mr Foley honor the terms of his bet with Mr Stein. He is the loser and deserved to be mocked, punished severely and thrown out of this hall. He isn't worthy to marry Miss Jade Smith, the most beautiful lady in Vietnam City. Mr Stein is deserving of Miss Jade because he is capable and mighty!”

“Mr Stein attracted the favor and face of the Garners. Therefore, he has our respect and support!”

The crowd voiced their displeasure over hesitant and refusal to admit his defeat. Most of them stood in solidarity with Aiden and showered him their praises and respect.

Meanwhile, those who didn't like the outcome of the bet kept silent and were secretly looking for an escape route from the wedding hall.

Even Mrs Smith Senior and Miss Lily were confused at a loss for words. They have humiliated Aiden all this while but it turns out that Aiden was the capable hand here. If this is reality, it would only mean that they were doomed indeed because they have insulted and provoked him countlessly.

However, so many unanswered questions plagued their minds.

‘How was Aiden able to command such respect from the Almighty Garners family?’

“Are these gift items real or are they fake items?”

‘Are the people before them really from the Garners' family or is it just some staged lunatic hired by both Aiden and Jade just to manipulate them?’

“Haha!”

 A whimsical and sardonic laughter suddenly escaped from Jackson's mouth.

At this moment, Jackson who was also in a deep thought saw through the naiveness of both Mrs Smith Senior and Miss Lily. He quickly decided to take advantage of their naiveness to defend himself by causing a ruckus in the hall.

“What nonsense defeat are you talking about here?! How has this crazy and useless idiot called Aiden defeated me?!”

Turning to Miss Garner, he yelled disdainfully, “Hey young lady, who do you think you're deceiving here? How could you claim to be Mr Alexander Garner’s daughter? How cheap are you to connive with this chronic joe, shameless loser and a good-for-nothing he-goat called Aiden Stein to stage an unsolicited drama here by presenting fake items to the Smith's family?”
