Even the longest journey begins with a single step and so I took a leap out of the train. I managed to slither my way out the crowded Train station which is so far the cheapest means of transport after the World war. The whole World had been amalgamated and divided into two lands: The Low-lands and The Highlands. It was a simple hierarchy set up to distinguish the classes of people in the world. Undoubtedly, everyone from the Low-lands had to go by train as they were the only means of transport available at long distance. Of course, there were those with maintenance private Auto-mobiles but their numbers were at minimal. On the other hand, there were Transporters that commute people by pre-recorded co-ordinates in The Highlands, although there were Flobiles of different sizes and shapes on highways mostly for sightseeing functions. Luxuries basically resided in the Highlands.

Facing the slightly congested highway, I decided to take a walk as my destination was only few blocks away, wouldn't it actually be my destiny that was a few blocks far away?

Nevertheless, after literally running all the way down here, I now stand in front of the wide open huge matte black gate with several guards ready to face all sorts of threat. Beads of sweat were sliding down my face as I pant heavily. i tilted my head to the side and sighed in anticipation as I saw the large banner standing on the roadside of the gate with only a phrase written on it

'SPAX Corp. Inc.'

My heart thumped hardly like a man that had fallen in love with a beauty at first sight. The 3d-like Spiral structure of the building was mesmerizing enough to melt my heart and the thought of working as a staff in the building was already tantalizing. SPAX was the 6th on the technology companies ranking list. Although it had been ranked higher in the previous years at its prime, to a lowlife like me, it was definitely a dream come through.

I approached the building and was allowed in not after being interrogated and thoroughly searched. I actually do not understand why they go to such extent as this was only a business enterprise, not a Universal agency with State secrets. But I just concluded that they were only doing their job as securities. Being a Business Space-Tech Enterprise doesn't mean they wouldn't be involved in evil schemes of some big-bellied 'opportunists' and on top of that, the company was ranked 6th.

SPAX Corp Inc. had several branches in the highlands and there is only one branch office in the Low-lands. The headquarters is situated in the most developed part of the world, Kress City. According to history, Kress City was where the last world war ended, located in the previous 'Oceania' continent, popularly known as 'Australia'. An island continent that had been modified into an exotic sight to behold, the whole continent is a city and the capital of Earth. There were underground Maglev railroads and passages which -due to circumstances I couldn't appreciate- looked quite breathtaking in the pictures that I've seen.

Notwithstanding, the whole world is full of underground and underwater railroads linking the continents separated by Seas and Oceans. The city was named after the American hero, Kress Meyers, a veteran soldier who committed suicide at the last battleground after yelling out his speech on the irrelevancy of the war and his cry for peace and freedom- from my view. If anyone ever said a loser can't be a hero someday. Although, it was more complicated than that... Well, all in a nutshell.

The war was originally between two world powerhouses, The United States of America and The Republic of China, which turned into a world war as both parties associated with their respective allies. Most history fans would deem this phenomenon as one of those Shakespeare's tragic works, a touching moment worth an 'Aster' award, but to me, it's nothing more than a war of pride and ego between two rich brats showing off their 'toys' to see who's better, eventually trampling upon the interests of others.

I stepped into the spiral-structured sky-scraper and I approached the reception to state my appointment.

"Hello, I'm Henna, how may I help you?" an aged woman probably in her late 50s with not even a slight wrinkle on her spotless skin said pleasantly.

"Hello ma'am, my name is Jenkins, I have an appointment with Space principal Sri." I said with a nervous smile.

"A moment please." she said and nodded politely before dialing a number on the improved landline on the desk, A Spherical Vector device well-suited for the job. Her gestures and movement were smooth, perfect and precise, indicating how experienced she is.

After speaking for several short minutes, she dropped the call and smiled politely towards me and then directed me to Mr. Sri's office- what I'd call him when we were alone. The elevator stopped at the 15th floor, the highest floor in the building and I made my way towards his office. All the offices on the floor, save few, had a transparent sound proof door and a tag indicating the number of the office and it didn't take long for me to arrive in front of Office 3, which the receptionist had told me to look for once I got to this floor.

I knocked the door gently and a bald aged man raised his gaze from the documents which he was studying towards my direction, his bifocals sitting comfortably over his nose bridge as he gives me a beckoning sign, however with an irritated expression on his face that says otherwise.

I softened my stiffness as I opened the door and stepped in, I hadn't finished closing the door when a slightly shaky voice resounded in the room;

"Now tell me, whoever shows up for an interview past 12pm?"

‘Yes sir, you called!’ I couldn't help but assent jokingly in my mind.

  • Ashara

‎The Wastelands of Ashara was a shattered remnant of what was once a prominent city in the past. A striking result of the last global war that shook our very mother Earth. Bums and children suffering from malnutrition and now only an empty shell in their tattered and dirty clothes took each corner of the ruins as their place of stay. It was a free world they lived in, but generally, they were slaves of poverty, mismanagement and victims of the vices of humanity.‎‎ I kind of felt for them. ‎‎As a victim of hunger and torment myself, I know just how much these people suffered. And worse was how they were erased from the rest of the world. They probably believed they were the sole survivors of the last world war, but reality couldn't be any different.‎‎"This is the base of operation of Liberix. Though from received information, they're much more discreet about their operations. We have to make use of every possible means to find out what it is they're doing."‎‎As we walked around

‎The Solitude Outpost ‎Few days passed, a week probably, with us flying about towards the Ashen Expanse, which apparently was some forgotten part of the New World that I'd never even heard of before. From what Anya briefed me, it wasn't merely an uninhabited region but one that had been erased from every public resource and map in existence. No matter how long one searched, it would remain almost impossible to find this place except by accident. Only few world powerhouses knew of its existence. ‎Anya and I had remained professional throughout the entire journey. Nothing remotely similar to what happened back in the Spax Corp. main facility ever ensued again. It almost made me question if the Serena I knew back then had only been an act from the very beginning. ‎She was much colder now...Much more mature, and frighteningly professional. ‎Sometimes I even wonder if she intentionally avoided speaking simply because she found conversations to be unnecessary. ‎It was already past

  • Anya?

As soon as we stepped out of the televeyor, the sight of another exotic room came into view. This time, it was more of a guest room. A space of resort of a sort, rather than an office. However, I couldn't enjoy the view as much as I'd have liked as I caught sight of someone I was rather expecting to meet. Though, I was not certain of her real identity anymore. “ Took you long enough...” Dressed in a tight black leather suit with little taupe details, the lady said without shifting her indifferent gaze from the HUD of her vector device. Her long black hair fell all over her stretched, fit, and curvy figure while the humongous mounds on her chest that the suit she wore failed to cover peeked from beneath her pointed chin. She looked even hotter than I remembered. The next instant, she shut close the vector device before her and slowly organized her posture to stand. I was mesmerized by how those two familiar soft melons on her chest jiggled with every little action she made in the p

  • Principal Donovan

۩Stepping into the golden conveyor was like a great leap into the reality and truth of the era that we lived in. The difference in the class I lived in and the one in front of me was literally worlds apart, and suddenly being spun into such reality was a juxtaposition to just how far away I've lived from the current era of greatness and scientific peak that earth had attained. It was all a graphic composition of shiny gold with intricate lines of algorithm that covered the interior. The lines shone in bold luminous blue lights of technology which breathed occasionally in a soft beam to show vitality and full connection.I watched with perplexed heart as the guide pressed a single button that glowed a dim light on the wall and say to it " Floor five, management", following a melodious ting sound.A soothing whirr resounded from everywhere around and shortly after that, the conveyor started to tremble ever so gently. It became brighter than usual and I had to raise my gaze towards the

  • PICK-UP DAY

Staring at the formally-suited thin framed figure in the mirror, I couldn't help but be prideful of myself. my long black hair that I slicked backwards shone glossily under the dim light of the room. It's been a week since the warning note from Mr Sri and today is the pickup date. I stepped out of my minimalist 'cabin' into the morning atmosphere of fount, not without asking Roberta to activate the security system. I had to wait for few minutes outside for my ride to arrive. I had received a short message just a day before and was directed to Ferry TCC in the Highlands. I figured it'd have to be so since I couldn't be sent on a mission without proper transportation. Ferry TCC is one of the teleportation facilities in the Highlands, without doubt, one of the "world organization's" accomplices. Nonetheless, It wasn't an all too bad information, considering my plan. Sat in the flobile, I observed the humid view below as we flew across countries, it was the month of 'fall' and the temper

  • Relativity, mock me while you still can!

The flobile I ordered arrived long past breakfast in the morning and the sun shone bright as the white clouds drifted apart, indicating that it was almost noon. I left Spax corp with bouncy step and literally in flying style as well if you considered, well... Anyway, I wouldn't say that it hadn't been a great time in here but I already missed my lovely home. There was a limit to the things I could do here compared to my home. It took a little less time than I imagined to reach home since there wasn't any sightseeing during the drive and upon getting inside my rundown apartment with only few details setting it apart from that of any low-life;"Welcome home, Jenkins!" In her usual flat monotonous tone that's been practically etched in my being, Roberta greeted."Thanks Roberta. Hehe, did you miss me?" I asked in a bit joking manner to which she didn't reply. "Could you order me lunch?" yeah, it was about that time already."On it, ordering cheeseburgers and cold Desstark cocktails on co
