Chapter 7: The Big Day!

Last night was quite eventful and the red mark on my cheeks was enough to tell that.

"What? You kinda deserved it!" Laeratia said while looking at me from the bed. I shook my head while staring back at my reflection in the mirror, "Yeah sure…"

I was looking at my reflection in the mirror and a lot has changed in the past few years. Compared to the last time I felt this way about my image, I appear to be a lot different. Apart from the physical changes, I have changed as a person too.

Of course, my 17-year-old body would be different from my 12-year-old one. I have grown taller, and facial structure has changed and my voice sure has taken a ride to depths. My long hair was a wet mess as I just came out of the shower.

"How the heck is your hair so silky?" Laeratia clicked her tongue at me. I looked at her, as I ran my hands through my hair and nodded, "I don't know to be honest."

"Why do boys have such great hair traits?"

I swept my hair to the side and walked towards her with a smirk, "Boys also have better skin and eyelash traits."

"Thank you." She threw daggers at me with her chocolate-coloured eyes, and I nodded with a cheeky smile, "Anytime."

Laeratia woke up before me and got ready as it was the first day of our new secondary academy. She was way too excited about it since last night and it was clear in her body language. Getting up early, shampooed her hair, using a fancy cologne on her uniform. She was more ready than I'd ever be in this lifetime.

"What?" Laeratia asked, noticing me staring at her. I shook my head and sighed, "I can't put up with you being so hyperactive for a new academy."

"Well, you don't have to. I should be complaining about putting up with your lame-ass." Laeratia pouted while averting her gazes from me. I shrugged and replied, "Well, tell that to your Dad. It was his idea to send us a week prior."

Laeratia looked at me with an awkward smile as she scratched her cheek lightly with her index finger and continued where I trailed off, "That too… because he mistook the dates so he arranged this hotel for us to stay a week.

I was looking at her for quite a while but I actually noticed her in the uniform. She was looking decent considering the fact that she is beauty already so any kind of dress will compliment her looks.

The full-sleeved white shirt along with the red ribbon sure looked great with the black blazer that was exclusive to our academy. She was wearing the uniform like it was meant to be. Even the middle button of the blazer was tied up.

Nerd. Is what I thought but Laeratia has always been the kind of girl who is punctual to rules and regulations. Neither would she break any rules nor would she let any of us break them. No wonder her brothers called her boring.

But despite the plain outlook, one can't deny the fact that she is an outright beauty. Carrying royal genes, wasn't a big deal for her. But having skin as clear as water and chocolate-coloured eyes along with her luscious oak-coloured hairs that flowed freely behind her, she sure was a catch for eyes.

"I mean… can't blame him though. The Chancellor of the academy does have terrible handwriting." I said with a slight smile as I found myself staring at her for a bit too long.

Puberty surely has taken a toll on my body.

"He could've typed it?" She raised her eyebrows as if she said something completely obvious. She was oblivious to the reason the Chancellor decided to write it himself instead of getting it typed but I was in no mood to explain to her.

"Umm… there was a reason he didn't type it."

"What that might be? Well whatever it is, quite an idiotic reason."

"This should do... wait, I should loosen up my tie a bit. I don't want to look like an honours student." I said while turning towards Laeratia who had this look of disapproval on her face. Ignoring her, I picked up the blazer but she objected,  "Hell no! Shut up and dress properly. I don't want to be seen with you looking like a delinquent."

"Come on! It's not that bold. Rude?" I protested. She stood up with her arms on her waist, and eyed down my whole body from head to toe, "Look at yourself. Your hair, the way you're dressed up… what's with that open button on your chest… and that earring… goodness gracious!"

I have never felt this naked despite being fully clothed. And this woman judged me more than her mom ever did in those five years. What's wrong with my hair and that earring? I love them. She has no idea what kind of boys will be attending this academy with us.

I had never taken her seriously before and I had no plans to. I gripped the edge of the shirt from my waist and pulled on it. Laeratia dashed towards me and gripped my forearm hard while yelling at me, "No! You are absolutely not untucking your shirt."

I narrowed my eyes at her as she was staring at my face. With a slight smirk, I bent down and said in a soft voice, "Ok then untuck it for me."

"Kigan, you want another one on that cheek?" She moved from me with an irritated look as I chuckled nervously, ready to receive a flying shoe at my face any second.

"My bad." I said with an accepting nod because I realised how lame it was. She gave me an obvious look and asked with as much sarcasm as she could muster up in those words, "You think?"
