[Sydvale City Hospital.]
Mr. Park finally came out of danger.
After hours of emergency treatment, the old man lay pale and exhausted on a hospital bed. His life was no longer at risk, and the family could finally ask the question that had been burning in all their heads.
How did a man in his sixties turn into as breeding bull overnight?
The doctor arrived with the blood test results.
“There is a significant concentration of a potent sexual stimulant in his bloodstream,” he said. “That is what caused the prolonged reaction.”
The Parks were stunned.
A stimulant?
Mr. Park never took supplements. He barely took a multivitamin.
Unless…
“The takeout!” Mrs. Park gasped.
Her face twisted with a fury so pure it almost made the room warm.
“Rhys! That bastard! I won’t let him get away with this!”
“Rhys?” Her son, Kang, frowned. “What does he have to do with it?”
Mrs. Park hesitated. Then, grudgingly, she told them the whole story. How Jason had taken Rhys’s food. Twice.
Kang didn’t even blink at the fact that his own son was a thief.
“He poisoned the meal!” he roared. “That son of a bitch! I’ll sue him. I’ll make him lose every cent he has!”
The three adults traded glances.
Something greedy flickered across all their faces at once.
If they could drag him into court, a slice of that money might come their way.
Kang grabbed his phone and started to dial the police.

Meanwhile, at that very moment, two uniformed officers were knocking on Rhys’s door.
When he opened it, there wasn’t any surprise on his face.
Of course not.
He had filed the report himself, hours ago, while the Parks were still waiting for the ambulance to leave the building.
“Mr. Darby?” one officer said. “You reported a theft?”
When they learned that the stolen item was a takeout order, both officers couldn’t help but smile.
“Young man, you can report it. But we’d suggest talking to property management first. If you find out who took it, you can speak to them directly. You’re neighbors. Some things are better handled privately.”
Rhys nodded calmly.
“That’s exactly what I did the first time.”
“I got the footage from property management. It was my neighbor’s grandson. I expected an apology, or at least an offer to pay me back. Instead, his family insulted me and threw me out.”
“Tonight I ordered another meal. And the same kid stole it again.”
The officers’ faces sharpened.
“That’s unacceptable.”
A kid had stolen from him once. The family had refused to make it right, mocked him for asking, and then let it happen again. No wonder he’d called the police.
“All right,” the older officer said. “We’ll go speak with them.”
Rhys smiled. “There’s more to this than a stolen dinner.”
“My takeout was a little… pricey.”
The officer shrugged. “How pricey could it be?”
“Thirty-five hundred dollars.”
The officer had just drank from a cup of water.
Pfft!
It sprayed out across the doorway.
He coughed three times. “Excuse me, how much?”
Rhys calmly pulled out the receipt and handed it over.
The officer stared at it.
$3,500.
It was real.
There was no law against buying an expensive dinner. If a man wanted to burn thirty-five hundred dollars on lobster, that was his right.
But now that the value involved was this high, the situation changed completely.
Rhys had prepared everything. The footage from property management. The receipt. The restaurant’s contact information.
The officers even visited the restaurant to verify. The charge was exactly what it looked like. Completely legitimate.
Since the person who took the food was a child, only seven or eight years old, criminal charges weren’t possible. But if the Parks reimbursed him, the matter could be settled.

Kang had just finished dialing when the doorbell rang.
What? Already?
Did the police somehow know?
The three Parks hurried to the entrance.
Two uniformed officers stood on the other side as soon as the door opened.
“Are you family members of the Parks?” Officer Liu asked.
The strange phrasing made Kang hesitate.
“I’m their son. We were just about to call you.”
“Call us?” Officer Liu raised an eyebrow. “You’re not the family of the child who took the takeout?”
“Let’s hear your side first.”
Mrs. Park stepped forward like a prosecutor.
She told the entire story with trembling indignation, ending with her certainty: Rhys had deliberately poisoned the food.
The two officers exchanged a look.
“So you’re claiming, that Mr. Darby poisoned his own dinner to harm your family?” Officer Liu repeated
“Exactly!” Mrs. Park said, with enormous confidence.
Officer Liu let out a small laugh.
“That claim is very unlikely to hold up. No prosecutor and no court would accept it without evidence. You’re welcome to hire a lawyer and file a lawsuit. But if you sue Mr. Darby, you are also admitting that your grandson took his food.”
“Since the child is a minor, that would likely be treated as a compensation dispute, not a criminal case.”
The Parks were furious.
It was so obvious! Rhys had poisoned them! How could the police be so blind?
“Fine,” Kang’s wife said through gritted teeth. “We’ll pay for the meal. But Rhys also needs to compensate us for medical bills, lost wages, and emotional distress.”
They had no choice. If they wanted Rhys to pay, they first had to admit that Jason had taken the food.
But that was fine.
How much could one meal possibly cost?
Officer Liu smiled.
“Good. Then we’re agreed on the amount.”
“The total is $3,500.”
The entire Park family sprayed the room in shock. What the fuck was that?

And like the cunning he was, he was prepared ahead. His dimensional gate was already open.He pretended to look down and lowered the flashlight toward the floor.“Now!”Mason was the first to charge.“Die!” he roared, signaling the others to strike together.Victor Grant and the other four saw Mason rush forward, bellowed, and surged at Rhys. one after another, they vanished, Without a sound.Rhys checked the dimensional space with his mind. Six lifelike corpses lay inside. Their faces were frozen in fierce, twisted grimaces, a trace of fear still visible in their eyes.Interesting. That meant people didn’t die instantly when they entered. There was a process, however brief.Mason and his men had been plotting against him all along. Was he supposed to spare them? They had served their purpose. Now that they’d done what he wanted, there was no reason to leave them alive.Rhys smiled and, with a thought, dumped all six bodies out of t

Old Lee crouched at the door of apartment 302 and went to work.He really was a professional. It took him half a minute. He hadn’t been able to open Rhys’s lock because Rhys had spent eighty million on reinforcing the mansion. The requirement had been simple: secure, and resistant to attack. If an ordinary locksmith could have cracked it in a few minutes, Rhys would have hunted James Svard down and killed him, hailstorm or not.The door clicked open. The six men rushed inside.“Who’s there?” Michael called out.“Ah! What do you want?” Britt screamed as the men pinned Michael to the ground.“It’s Fourth Mason!” Michael called out. Lexi and Henry had rushed down now to see what’s happening.“Old Lee, the locksmith!” Lexi gasped as the man grabbed her hair.“Hey! Hands off her!” A punch kicked Henry to the ground. The four Stowes cried out in shock. Their voices rose, and then it was horror for them. The men, over and over again, raped them till they all bled.Rhys smiled and turned aw
Chapter 48: water gun
The six men waited out the evening in Mason’s living room, passing a single bottle of cheap liquor between themselves. They didn’t eat dinner. They just endured the hunger. Mason wasn’t about to share his own stash, and Old Lee and the other four hadn’t brought any. They could stand it for a few more hours. Once Rhys was dead, they could eat as much as they wanted.Through the half-open door of the back room, Megan could be seen sitting on the edge of a mattress, her arms wrapped around her knees. She stared at the wall without blinking, her face as blank as paper.Nobody looked at her.Mason glanced over once, grunted, and pulled the door shut. He didn’t lock it. He wasn’t worried about her running. Where would she go? And besides, in a few hours, he would own a mansion with heat and light, and she would belong to that, too. They waited and waited. Then midnight came.“It’s time. Move out,” Mason said. The six men crept down to the underground garage. Flashlight beams jittered ove
Chapter 47: six men and a plan
Sara left.Rhys worried she’d struggle to stay alone in that apartment, with the blood and the silence. So he introduced her to Jenna Dawson. Jenna was delighted. Living alone made her feel unsafe, too.He gave them both advice. Keep your doors locked. Don’t open them for anyone. Check carefully before you step outside. The last point was unlikely to matter, though, because the weather was getting worse. The city had never seen temperatures below minus ten, and people’s winter clothes weren’t built for it. A short walk might be bearable. Staying out was another story. And that was only minus ten or fifteen. At minus forty or fifty, the air could freeze the lungs and damage the organs. Even twenty minutes outside might be fatal. They just had to be careful.Rhys wasn’t offering this help out of the goodness of his heart. Sara was beautiful. She had a good figure.“After killing Paul in public, I’ll probably become something like a demon king in this neighborhood.”He thought. The dow

Whoosh! The flashlight beam speared straight into Paul’s eyes.He threw up a hand to cover them. It didn’t help. He stumbled backward until his spine thudded against the wall of the passage. The light shifted. Rhys stepped out through the doorway, tall and calm, his shadow rolling across the concrete like a wave.“You’re asking for a lot,” he said coldly.“Rhys! I’ll kill you!”Paul roared and swung the knife. In truth, he couldn’t see where Rhys was. He just hacked toward the light, blinded and swollen with rage.Rhys sneered and kicked him.Paul couldn’t see his opponent. Rhys could see him perfectly. The kick landed squarely in Paul’s stomach, folding him in half and flinging him backward out of the passage. He dropped onto his backside in the garage.Clang! The kitchen knife skidded across the floor.Rhys walked over, picked it up, and stepped toward him. By the time Paul recovered his senses, the blade was pointed at his face.He nearly piss himself. All the courage that anger ha
Chapter 45: The audience
Paul had burst into the underground garage with a kitchen knife in his fist.He looked like a man ready to kill. Everyone he passed hurried out of his path.“What’s going on?”“Is he going to fight someone to the death?”“Did somebody steal his family’s food?”At a time like this, what could be worse than having your food and water stolen?Paul was too furious to notice any of it. He marched straight toward Rhys’s mansion. He had seen Sara walk through that door with his own eyes. What else was there to understand?“That bitch sold me out for food!”The thought made him angrier. His hand shook around the handle. He plunged into the long, black passage. His phone battery was dead, so he had no light. In his rage, he kept charging forward through the dark, slammed into walls, cursing even louder. At last, he found the steel door and started hammering it with the knife.“Rhys! You motherfucker! You touched my wife! Get out here! I’ll hack you to pieces!”The noise drew more and more nei
