Ron pursed his lips as he looked from the phone and back to Ria, “Why should I answer you?”

“What?” Ria gasped. “Who gave you the balls to be so defiant?”

“Defiant?” He shrugged. “I just don't answer to you, that’s it.”

“But you must answer to this, Ron.” Ria snarled. “Why were you with Mr. Hunter and even Nathan West was bowing to you! Is there something you are hiding from me?”

Ron couldn't help but see Ria for who she was now. She thought she had the world under her feet and she had control over everything. But then, he decided to test her, to push her over the edge to confirm his suspicion.

“I don’t know Hunter.” He said. “But I went there to see Nathan West specifically. After all, you told me Elena was with the West family.”

“Elena?” Her friends gasped, looking at each other fearfully. Ron quickly caught their expressions and was about to ask questions when Ria cut in.

“What…what about Elena? Did you find her?” Her eyes darted around nervously.

Ron studied her expression, the way a bead of sweat dripped down the side of her face, and the way she clutched her dress. He knew she must be hiding something about Elena.

“What if I found her?” He asked.

“Just answer the fucking question!” Ria snarled, her hands shaking.

Ron raised a brow at her, realizing she was being over the top.

“No, I didn't find her. Nathan West refused to let me see her and I had to leave because Hunter came.”

“Ohh…” Ria smiled wryly as she let out a sigh of relief.

“Is there anything I should know? About Hera’s mother?” Ron asked..

“What should you know?” Ria hissed. “Is it my fault Elena chose to abandon her child? Don’t piss me off!”

“Are you saying Elena abandoned her child?” Ron raised a brow.

Ria eyed him, not even bothering to answer him. She confided again in the fact that Ron was nothing. Even though she told him where Elena was, he still couldn't get her.

A spineless man such as him couldn't do her any harm. Also, she had been so worried that he was familiar to Hunter but where would such an ex-convict get to meet one of the richest man in the country?

“If you have nothing else to say, Ria. Can you leave? I was in the middle of something.” Ron spoke up, already disgusted with her presence.

But Ria wasn't going to just step away. She looked at her friends, amused, and in the next second, they all burst into a peal of mocking laughter.

“Look at him….” Ria slapped her thighs. “Telling me to leave? As if he owns the place?”

“Yes, Ria. You should tell him your husband controls more than half of this estate. Kick his ass out!”

“Trust me, I will.” Ria chuckled while dialing the security on her phone again. She stared at Ron with eyes that shone with a wicked light, “Today, I am going to teach you how to stop stalking your ex.”

“I am sure you picked up more bad habits from prison after being a murderer.”

“That’s right! He is a murderer! Ria, we should hurry and leave here before he harms us…” Her friends dramatically stepped away, holding their hands to their noses as if Ron smelled badly.

Ria assured them with a smile while Ron assessed them, with his head tilted to the side. They looked like educated and flashy bimbos, digesting everything Ria said hook, line, and sinker.

He watched Ria speak away on the phone, wanting to see her wield her so-called power.

On the phone, the security guard said, “I am sorry, Mrs. Adams, no one can access the estate without a pass. If there is a real cause for alarm, then we will be there to help.”

Ria opened her mouth in shock, stepping away from her friends so they wouldn't see her distress.

“Do you know who is speaking? Do you know who my husband is? He is going to fire you all!” She growled into the phone, almost crushing it with her fist.

“You should understand us, Mrs. Adams. If there is nothing else, then I will hang up now.”

“Wait—”

Beep!

The call ended on her and Ria stared at the phone in shock. How could Ron not be a stalker who got into the estate through unscrupulous means? Did this mean that Ron had access to the estate?

Impossible! He was just a poor ex-convict!

As she clutched her phone, Ria knew that she couldn't lose face before her friends. She had already bragged to them that the Adams family controlled the estate.

She quickly dialed her husband’s number, already forcing tears out of her eyes.

“Babe…” She cried, her voice shaking like she was being hit by a blizzard. “You need to come save me. Ron, that bastard is harassing me.”

  • Elena Is Our Enemy

Ron’s jaw clenched as he calmly shut the door to Elena’s room. There was no use running after her and her sudden escape had only confirmed something he had been suspecting. Elena wasn’t pretending. She knew exactly what she was doing and she knew Hera was her daughter. She may have been weak when she stood before Nathan West, but ever since they got back to the house, Ron had noticed how sharp and attentive she was. Her movements were quick and swift and her words piercing. She didn't seem like a normal maid. It was also commendable that she was able to escape under his watch. “What are you hiding, Elena?” He whispered to himself as he went back to his room. He took the small ziplog bag he had in his bedside drawer, raising it in the air to inspect it. For the years he had spent in prison, he had learned to never trust what he saw and he would always have a backup plan. The bag contained Elena’s hair which he had secretly taken when she was not looking and now, whether she liked

“What do you mean?” Ron frowned. “You know Ria, right? I used to be Ria’s boyfriend.” “I…I don’t know what you are talking about.” Elena shook her head, her eyes darting to look away. Ron pursed his lips, looking from Hera to Elena. Yes, Hera had some similar features with Ria but looking at Elena, she could see how they looked so much alike. He was convinced Elena was Ria’s mother. But it didn't seem like Elena was faking her words. She didn't even bat an eye when she spoke in Hera’s face. “Don’t you see the resemblance—”“Look, Mr. Ron…” Elena took a deep breath, her fists clenching beside her. “I appreciate that you bought me off like a commodity but you can’t force an identity on me.” “I am not anyone’s sister or mother and I certainly do not know you.”As soon as she was done speaking, she walked past Ron but he quickly caught her by the arm. “Where are you going?” He raised a brow at her. “You can’t step into that house anymore.”“Why? Because you bought me?” Elena sneered
