One Day Ago

St. Mercy Hospital – Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Level 3B, East Wing

The soft, constant beeping of monitors and the low murmur of hushed conversations filled the air of the NICU hallway, and fluorescent lights buzzed quietly overhead, casting a pale glow across the floors.

A man wearing teal scrubs and a surgical mask, walked steadily down the hallway while carrying a clipboard just like any other nurse on duty.

He nodded casually to a passing doctor, offering a warm, professional “Good evening.”

His steps slowed as he neared the secured NICU ward, Room 307A, the one that held some of the most vulnerable newborns in the hospital.

Behind the large, frosted-glass doors were rows of incubators and softly lit cribs.

He paused, pretending to study his clipboard, then cast a quick glance over his shoulder. The corridor was quiet, save for the soft squeak of a cleaning cart turning the corner.

His hand reached for the keypad beside the NICU door.

“Excuse me?”

He froze,

Back to the present…At Pledis City…Leon wasn’t sure if he expected the news, but part of him had already known something like this was going to happen, considering how the congressman died in front of him.“I need to leave,” he said abruptly, turning to Old Master Hale without hesitation.“But wait… Lord Azrael…” the old man’s voice was laced with concern. “What about Ezekiel Gates?”Leon paused mid-step, the name snapping his thoughts back into focus. “Oh, that. Yes…”He returned to Old Master Hale’s bedside and pulled out his phone, offering it without much ceremony. “Put the number in here.”Old Master Hale blinked, surprised by it. “You… want to call him?”Old Master Hale blinked, momentarily taken aback. “You… want to call him?”Leon nodded. “Of course. Isn’t that how things work now? It’s amusing how this era makes communication too easy. In the past, you’d have to track someone across lands or wait weeks for a messenger. Now… just type and press a button as soon as possible.

  • 111: Night gone wrong

The Mercers arrived at the bar which was their only meeting spot, and outside the door, two cloaked, hooded figures stood waiting.Cecil clutched the blanket-wrapped infants tighter, her heart thudding painfully against her ribs. Every time they came here, she felt the cold, sickening chill that clung to these people. The darkness that followed them like a stain.Frederick, as usual, wore his pride like armor, even in the face of fear. With folded arms and that same twisted smirk, he spoke up.“We brought something I’m sure your sick-minded order will love. The lives of two infants. I mean, since you people can steal children that have never been born yet, surely these ones are right up your alley.”The cloaked men didn’t flinch. The hoods covered their faces, shadows swallowing their expressions, and the night around them only made their presence more menacing. After a moment of silence, the taller figure made a small motion with his gloved hand, and his companion stepped forward to

”I know who you are,” Old Master Hale said quietly, a reverent smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.Leon raised a brow, tilting his head slightly in mild amusement. “Do you now?”“You’re not just some wandering healer or miracle-working doctor,” the old man said with certainty. “You’re Azrael. The God of Dominion.”Leon was taken aback, utterly confused. The old man smiled at his expression, the lines on his face deepening. “I understand your confusion. After all, this isn’t knowledge a mortal like me should ever possess,” he said softly. “But I know what I know… and I knew you’d be the one to save me.”“How?” Leon asked, curious.“Because I’m part of a divine order,” the old man replied without hesitation. “Years ago, someone I trusted told me I’d fall gravely ill. That my time would come, but that I wouldn’t die. Not yet. Because Azrael, the God of Dominion, would come. And he would be the one to save me.”Leon’s eyes darkened with curiosity. “And this someone… who is he?”“Ez

  • 108: President Vorn’s desperation

Old Master Hale’s expression didn’t change. “This young man gave me back my life. He deserves far more than the scraps of your greed. You lost, Lorian. You lost everything.” Then his eyes swept across the room coldly. “Now… all of you, get out. I want to speak with him. Alone.” Lorian looked as if the floor had disappeared beneath his feet. His face pale, his hands shaking, he was no longer the heir but a dethroned man, stripped and humiliated. His son, Xander, stood by the door, frozen. His confident smirk had long disappeared, replaced by a stunned, panicked look as the full weight of the situation hit him. Everything his father owned was supposed to be his, and if his father had nothing… what was there left for him to inherit? “Gr-Grandpa…” Xander stammered, hesitantly stepping toward the bed. “Grandpa, you’re alive… I’m so glad. You… you scared everyone half to death.” Old Master Hale said nothing. Xander forced a weak smile, trying to salvage anything he could. “Grandpa, l

Everyone in the room stood frozen in shock, unable to comprehend what they had just witnessed. Old Master Hale’s eyes were open, calm… alive. The beeping on the monitor now steady. Even Lorian Hale, who had been so confident just moments ago, looked like he’d seen a ghost. His face went pale, and his heart thudded violently in his chest. It wasn’t supposed to happen. The old man wasn’t supposed to wake up. “Grandpa?” Alanah whispered, as though afraid her voice would shatter the moment, tears welling in her eyes. When the old man gave her a small smile, it was like something broke inside her. Alanah burst into tears, her voice trembling. “Grandpa, I thought I was going to lose you. I thought… they all said you were going to die…” Her voice cracked, thick with emotion as she stood close to the bed, crying openly. Leon, meanwhile, quietly removed each needle, then slowly, he turned his gaze toward the room. All the doctors stood in complete silence, still watching him, some in dis
