Chapter 14 : I Admit It.

'That punk, Fred'

'So he is this strong? No wonder why he is so arrogant'

"Everyone get away from this table. This is for me and my crew!"

That roar pulled me from my thoughts.

I instinctively raised my and glanced at him. He wasn't even looking at me. He was staring at the other people on the table.

Behind him, stood two guys. The same guys that were with him yesterday at the dead end lane.

According to what he said, Fred and his two friends alone wanted to occupy a table which could accommodate 8 people. How brazen!

"I won't repeat myself"

He added causing everyone to glance at me with expectant gazes.

They wanted to see how I would handle this. After all, I was a superhuman just like Fred.

I didn't say or do anything and I was not planning to do anything. I had to observe Fred's abilities before taking any action against him. After all, fighting with Fred might concern my reputation and health.

Moreover, according to my uncle's advice, showing prowess was not a heroic characteristic and could not make one great. Instead of respecting you, people would hate you.

Dignity was what I longed for.

Bang!

A loud slamming sound frightened everyone including others in other tables. Everyone stopped what they were doing and stared at us.

The one who slammed the table was none other than Fred.

"Are you daring to disobey me?"

He asked in incredibly cold voice.

To everyone's surprise, I was the first one to got up.

"How can we do so."

Those simple but ridiculous words left my mouth as I grabbed my lunch box and put into my arms, ready to leave.

Realizing my move, all the others on the table frantically got up. Even I, a superhuman had chickened upon his dominance, much less them, ordinary humans. They had no choice.

Fred glared at me coldly. Even though he had embarrassed me, he wasn't satisfied at all. In fact, he intended to anger me so that we should fight. He was too confident that he would win.

In that case, the most powerful superhuman would have been automatically determined.

"Hey bastard, glaring at me with such a rude gaze? What a nerve?"

Fred said to Davis who was trailing behind me.

Davis had a disgusted expression on his face. Everyone could tell that if he had what it takes, he would have taught Fred a hard lesson.

However, he didn't say anything. He ignored Fred and continued walking as if he hadn't heard Fred's manipulative words.

Ignored by a mere ordinary human, Fred felt humiliated. Rage spread within him.

He took some quick steps forward and tripled over Davis. The latter staggered but his shoulder was steadly grabbed by someone. It was Fred.

"You're not going anywhere."

Fred's words petrified Davis.

"Fred, what wrong have I done? Why are you being harsh and cruel?"

Davis grumbled.

His mind was obsessed by Fred's unreasonable and shameful actions.

Fred responded with a giggle.

"What are you trying to say? After mocking me, you're expecting me to let you go?"

Asked Fred with a smirk.

"Fred, I can't even remember mocking you"

Davis said with a disgusted look.

"Alright, I'll remind you, how you have mocked me."

After Fred said these words, everyone had already anticipated his next move. He wanted to beat Davis.

"Stop!"

Of course, I couldn't let him beat my bossom friend.

I continued.

"He glanced at you with rude gaze and for that reason, you want to beat him up. Isn't that a bit cruel and unfair?"

That question left my mouth as I stroked my beardless chin.

Hearing my question, Fred's face brightened. Finally I, his main target got involved.

"How can a trashy superhuman tell me what to do?"

He continued.

"Now, let me make myself clear. I won't let him off that easily."

Then he stopped for a while before raising his finger and said.

"I can let him off in one condition, only one condition.

"Call yourself a fool"

These words flew out of his grinning mouth.

What he said caused everyone to glare at me attentively.

"I'm a fool"

While everyone's minds were being filled with different expectations, I shouted.

Many people were seriously stunned. It seemed like I  always cowered in front of Fred. I fear him.

"You mumbled and I can't get you. Repeat yourself"

My voice was loud and clear. There was no way, it could be considered a mumble. Fred was out to humiliate me.

However, I didn't hesitate, I briskly repeated.

"I'm a fool!."

At that moment, Fred took the lead in laughing and a few students joined. Many students had the urge to laugh but didn't, only because they were afraid of my retaliation when Fred wouldn't be around.

"Haha. That's not only incredibly funny but also ridiculous."

He added,

"A fool, here's your friend and please take him in hands. Otherwise I will beat him badly next time."

After spitting those words, he violently pushed Davis toward me and didn't stop laughing.

Hearing his words and tone, one who have not witnessed the entire commotion would have thought Davis really offended Fred.

I grabbed Davis's hand and dragged him toward the cafeteria exit. Students watched our backs disappearing from their sights as we exited the cafeteria hall.

We left in peace.

****

A few hours later, I was walking alone in the streets. Actually, I was returning home after knocking off at the school. This time, I didn't knock off earlier and at my own time.

As usual, I didn't wait for a school bus.

Davis stayed in another neighborhood not Haworth, therefore I often go back home alone.

Immersed in thoughts, the world around me, seemed not to exist.
