Chapter 15 : I'm Not A Gangster.

As usual, I didn't wait for a school bus.

Davis stayed in another neighborhood not Haworth, therefore I often go back home alone.

Immersed in thoughts, the world around me, seemed not to exist.

"Ethan! The Thous!"

Loud voice snapped me back to my senses.

Wandering my eyes, I saw a modified truck moving along the street closely beside me.

The truck's hood was filled with graffiti. Its front bumper was modified in a way that it looked like a monster truck. It was strange and attractive. Looking clearly, I realized that the truck was initially a mere pick up.

The truck produced loud mechanical noise that invaded the area including my ears. I couldn't understand why I didn't notice it a moment ago. With the mixture with rap music played, the atmosphere was incredibly noisy.

Since the car seemed to be originally a pick up, it had a truck bed in which a bunch of young thungs sat. In the front seats, someone had poked his head through a window.

He was the one who had yelled at me. I recognized him. He was none other than Heather.

The car was moving slowly. I guessed it was because Heather wanted to talk to me.

In his words, I found something strange.

'Thous, what does that mean? How related I am to this word?"

"Heather, we have meet again."

I yelled with a great sense of joy. Honestly, I was slightly elated to see him.

"Hop in Ethan. I want to discuss something significant with you."

Said nonchalantly Heather.

At this moment, I found another strange thing. When we first met yesterday, I didn't tell him my names. But he had just called me with my name, Ethan.

'How come he knew my name?'

"I'm going home. I sorry I have to turn you down."

That's how I replied.

Heather's face' slightly darkened. That feeling when you have been turned down.

"Come on bro. Its an important matter and it won't take long. Just a few minutes."

Heather pleaded proving that it was indeed an important matter.

In fact, when I turned him down, I didn't mean it. I was pretending because I wanted to found out if the matter he wanted to discuss with me wasn't a time wasting nonsense.

"Alright"

I nodded.

The truck stopped and I got into the truck's front seats where Heather and Lik were. Lik was a driver. He glared at me with eyes full of respect and admiration.

I sat next to Heather and the latter was at the middle seat.

"Errr...let's not waste time. We read in a newspaper about you and the two others."

Started Heather.

'So that's the reason he knows my name. But what about the word 'thous'?"

I slightly nodded in agreement.

"You're abilities are so impressive. We would like to invite you to join our crew. How do you thing about this?"

Asked Heather as he fixedly stared at my face.

'Joining a criminal crew? Becoming a criminal?'

That didn't sound good to me. But I didn't dare to reveal a trace of disgusted on my face.

"I'm not used to be in crews. I like being a solo. We can only be friends"

I replied with a smile.

I was not willing to dissapont Heather. Nevertheless, I was not going to accept his Invitation.

My uncle had advised me to be a good guy. That was the only way to gain dignity and being acknowledged as a hero.

"Bro, everything has a beginning. Try this new thing and in no ttume you'll get used to it. This is beneficial to you. You'll become the leader of our crew."

Heather pleaded.

Leaping directly to the top? That was a rare opportunity. But was it for nothing? This world was almost devoid of free things.

"You want to make me a leader of your crew? That's fabulous. But what do you need from me? I mean, you can not just be so generous and kind to me for nothing."

My eyes rolled when I was saying those words.

"You're right. You're a superhuman, you're incredibly powerful. Under your leadership our crew will become stronger and powerful. That's what every crew member dreamed about. Moreover, I as a current leader of Reddos, my crew. I attach great importance to the crew development. That's it."

That was one of the few frank replies I had ever heard.

Heather admit that Reddos crew would mutually benefit from my development. If I became a leader, Reddos would become much powerful than before.

That was nothing and petty to me. It could not be compared to dignity.

"Heather, your crew is a criminal crew. Criminals are supposed to join criminal crew. In other words, I'm not a criminal. Therefore i won't join your criminal crew. Stop the car!"

I said coldly with a disgusted expression.

I didn't dare to hide my strong unwillingness since if I do so, Heather would continue pleading me. In addition, I ordered Lik to stop the car. He didn't dare to disobey.

The next event was a truck door being slammed open. I stepped out and walked away without looking back.

I turned to the laneway I met Dominic the yesterday. It was a slightly crowded today.  Most of the people stood alongside the streets.

All these people were thugs. They glared daggers at me. I had no doubt that they had learned about the fight I had with Dominic.

However, no one did or say anything to me. I expected this since I had already gave them a warning through Dominic. And I didn't pay attention to them.

I walked down the street and turned left. That was where my home was situated.

My expression changed drastically when I saw a bunch of cops pointing at the apartment I live.

They were over 200 feet away so I was unable to count them. However, I could see two police vehicles which meant they were at least a bunch.

'Should I escape?'
