“Damn it! They’re here!”

Adrian immediately picked up his bow from the floor when he saw that the fence beside the greenhouse had been smashed open, leaving a hole large enough for an adult to pass through.

“I underestimated them! Now they’re going to destroy everything in front of them!”

Abominations were monsters that had reached the peak of Silver tier. Using palm trees of the same tier to hold them back was never going to work for long, just as Adrian had expected.

He simply hadn’t anticipated that these gigantic monsters would break free sooner than he had predicted.

Now that the palm trees’ hallucinatory effects were wearing off, the monsters would undoubtedly become even more ferocious and savage than before as they vented their frustration.

I only have 550 Energy Stones left in my savings! What am I supposed to do now?!

Lost in thought, Adrian knew he had very little time before the monsters destroyed his shelter.

“Adrian, I don’t know if this will be of any use to you.”

Seeing the troubled expression on his face, Darla knew she had to do something to help.

She extended her arm, showing him her stockpile of Attribute Stones, with the number displayed on her wristwatch.

“Ten thousand Attribute Stones?” Adrian murmured.

That was equivalent to a thousand Energy Stones. Although it seemed like a lot, it was nothing in the face of the Abominations. To fight them, he needed at least ten thousand Energy Stones.

Darla didn’t wait for Adrian to respond before tapping the holographic screen in front of her.

[Transfer successful. Ten thousand Attribute Stones have been transferred to Lord Galael’s account.]

The moment the transfer was completed, a notification appeared before Adrian.

[Ten thousand Attribute Stones detected. Use them to enhance the host’s physical strength.]

A lengthy list appeared on the screen. Since these Stones could only be used to enhance physical strength, every item on the list was related to that purpose.

Boom!

The entire section of the fence on the side collapsed.

Four Abominations could be seen advancing into the yard.

It would take less than a minute for them to reach the greenhouse and destroy it.

“Damn it! I can’t let that happen!”

Clenching his fists, Adrian knew he was running out of time.

If he didn’t do something now, he would have only one option left: escape.

“But wait! Could it be…?”

Looking at the monsters through the glass wall, a sudden realization struck him. He remembered something he had seen the day before.

“Summoning a knight? What’s the point of that?”

When Adrian had been desperately hungry, he had opened his system screen and examined as much of its contents as possible.

His goal was simple: to find food or something he could grow.

As it turned out, he had been mistaken. There was nothing he wanted.

Despite his shelter being a greenhouse, there were no plants or anything useful for growing crops in his system.

“What kind of greenhouse is this, anyway?”

Although slightly disappointed, Adrian hadn’t let that stop him from hunting in the wilderness.

“That’s right! If I exchange Attribute Stones for Soul Stones, can’t I still summon a knight?”

It turned out that these ten thousand Attribute Stones weren’t entirely useless. They were more than enough to perform a summoning.

After exchanging his Attribute Stones for Soul Stones, Adrian obtained an equivalent amount.

Scrolling through the list, he found that the cheapest option was a Bronze-tier warrior, priced at one thousand Soul Stones.

“No! I can’t rely on them!”

Adrian had never performed a summoning before. Under normal circumstances, he wasn’t even sure whether one Gold-tier warrior would be better than ten Bronze-tier warriors fighting in coordination.

However, when it came to fighting these gigantic monsters, the answer was obvious. He needed the strongest warrior available.

The Abominations outside were Silver-tier monsters. He needed at least a Gold-tier warrior to stand a chance against them.

“Having one reliable subordinate is better than having a whole group I can’t count on!”

Even if the warrior proved incapable of holding back the monsters, Adrian could still use him to help with his escape.

At the bottom of the list, only one name remained: Dark Knight. However, its slot was still locked.

“Even the cheapest Gold-tier warrior costs fifteen thousand? Fine! I hope you won’t disappoint me!”

Adrian exchanged five hundred Energy Stones for five thousand Soul Stones and added them to his existing balance. Instantly, the Dark Knight slot unlocked.

When Adrian pressed the button on the screen, a golden light emerged from the sacred altar, creating a portal-like opening in the air.

Firm footsteps echoed from within the portal as a knight stepped out.

Standing approximately 180 centimeters tall, about ten centimeters shorter than Adrian, the knight had a remarkably sturdy build. He wore black metal boots and matching iron gauntlets on both hands. A black leather cloak adorned with beautiful golden ornaments draped over his body, while his right hand gripped a two-meter-long black steel sword whose darkness seemed just as profound.

However, that wasn’t the most shocking thing Adrian noticed.

Beneath the hood covering his head, Adrian could see that the knight wasn’t human.

He was… an undead creature.

“Thank you for resurrecting me, my lord. I am here to serve you.”

The knight knelt on one knee before Adrian and lowered his head. Although his deep voice sounded somewhat eerie, his demeanor displayed absolute obedience.

“Dark Knight, rise,” Adrian said. “Do you see the enemies coming this way?”

He pointed toward the monsters nearby.

“Destroy them and protect this shelter!”

“At your command, my lord.”

Lowering his head deeply, the knight immediately set off.

Tap! Tap! Tap!

His agile footsteps carried him forward at incredible speed.

In the blink of an eye, he was already standing before the gigantic monsters.

“You do realize you've interrupted my morning, don't you? Arthur, you'd better not disappoint me.”“I would never do that, my lord.”The white-haired man bowed before presenting the holographic screen in his hands to Kaelen.“My lord, look! Of the ninety-nine shelters, only eighteen remain! That means the number of people opposing you has decreased significantly!”“Excellent!”A broad smile spread across Kaelen's face before he burst into laughter. As a lord, he could actually open his own screen and see what was happening for himself. But, of course, he was too lazy to do so.“With so many lords surrendering to me, wouldn't it be more appropriate to consider me a king rather than a mere lord?”That was what he thought.“Besides, why should I bother checking everything myself? That's their job! As my subordinates, they're the ones who should take care of it for me!”All he had to do was relax and enjoy himself while others handled everything. Just as they were doing for him that morni

“So these will be exchanged for Bronze-tier soldiers? No problem. With them joining my forces, my army will only continue to grow.”After all the bear and Abomination corpses had been thrown into the altar, only the zombie corpses remained. Although they were the most numerous, they were also the lowest-tier monsters.Even so, the thought of a massive army of undead soldiers marching before him made Adrian’s heart race with excitement.“What? No soldiers are appearing?”His expression immediately changed when ten zombie corpses were thrown in, yet nothing emerged.Instead, the altar produced a hundred Attribute Stones. That meant he would receive ten Stones for every zombie corpse.“All right. It’s fine. At least I’m getting something out of this.”Although he couldn’t hide his disappointment, it wasn’t as though he had gained nothing. There were around three thousand zombie corpses, which meant he had now obtained thirty thousand Attribute Stones.“With reserves like these, I won’t h

“Your strategy was truly brilliant, my lord!”Yemima was helping several injured undead soldiers rest in a special room on the first floor. Around half of the army had sustained serious injuries. Although none of them were life-threatening, the soldiers still needed complete rest to recover.“We managed to kill so many monsters! We didn’t let a single one of them escape!”Drake spoke excitedly. Although his facial expression was difficult to read, consisting of nothing more than a skull, his voice was filled with joy.“I can hardly wait for the next Evernight!”Jaxon was quick to add his own comment. Both generals had also suffered serious injuries after fighting the Blood Bears. However, compared to the victory they had achieved, their injuries meant nothing.“Get some rest.”Adrian patted his generals on the shoulders, a broad smile spreading across his face.“You fought very well tonight. You deserve some rest.”A faint light appeared in the eastern sky. Sunrise was approaching.Al

“Yemima said the monsters’ withdrawal was deliberate preparation for Evernight, didn’t she? That means if we’ve encountered everything from zombies to bears, there’s a good chance those are the very monsters that will come after us, right?”An hour before Evernight began, Adrian had already devised a plan to lure as many monsters as possible toward his shelter. He hadn’t done so without making preparations.“Zombies and Abominations are still manageable. Those Blood Bears are the hardest ones to defeat.”His undead army would have no trouble holding back the zombies and Abominations. But as for the bears, only Yemima would likely be able to deal with them.“But with the turrets’ help, it shouldn’t be a problem either,” Darla said. “Even if the cannons can’t kill the bears, they should certainly be able to scare them away.”Darla was simply trying to be realistic. Killing a bear was extremely difficult. Scaring one away was already a considerable achievement. There was no need to kill

Growl!Emerging from the mist, an Abomination appeared, wielding a hammer and a mace. It wasn't just one or two. A dozen of them emerged simultaneously.“Huh, trash! If all you can do is rely on your body to attack me, then you deserve to die!”Slash!Slash! The Northern General swung his arms in succession, his sword flashing through the air at incredible speed. With a single flurry of strikes, two Abominations collapsed to the ground, their bodies severed.Slash!Slash!Elsewhere, the Southern General did the same. Leaping into the air, he managed to cleave through two Abominations at once before immediately turning to attack another monster. At Gold tier, fighting these Silver-tier monsters posed no difficulty whatsoever.More Abominations continued to emerge. To deal with them, both generals moved with greater alertness and speed, covering their soldiers whenever necessary.Growl!Another growl, deeper and louder than before, echoed from within the mist.Rather than feeling afraid

  • Chapter 24 - The First Evernight

“The countdown begins.”The game system's voice echoed across the sky as the giant digital display showed 00:00:10.“Ten.”“Nine.”“Eight.”“Seven.”“Six.”Inside the room, Darla watched the computer screen and saw that the mist was now only a few hundred meters away from the outer perimeter. Given its speed, there was no way the countdown above them could be wrong. In just a few seconds, it would reach them.“Five.”“Four.”At the same time, Adrian stood in the second-floor lobby with his arms folded, his gaze fixed straight ahead. His expression was cold, and his eyes conveyed nothing but calm composure. The point in front of him marked the outer boundary of the region. And the fact that his greenhouse faced directly toward it seemed to suggest that the structure had been designed to confront the monsters that were about to arrive.“If a lord has truly been brought to this New World with the destiny of exterminating monsters, then so be it. I'll fight every last one of them.”“Three
