Could this heal her face?
Adrian raised his hand in front of his face, his expression suggesting that he was deep in thought.
I’ll never know unless I try, right? Why not just give it a shot?
“Darla, let me…”
Adrian reached out toward the woman’s face.
“No. Keep that away from me.”
Darla turned her face away. Although her lips formed a refusal, her voice was softer than usual.
She thought the man was actually disgusted by her appearance. However, out of pity, he was pretending that it didn’t bother him by touching her.
“I’m used to this. I…”
Before Darla could finish her sentence, Adrian’s index finger had already touched her forehead.
[Legendary Touch failed. No transformation occurred. Host has expended one of three available uses.]
What? It failed?
Adrian furrowed his brows deeply.
Does Legendary Touch only work on shelters?
Adrian had only tried this ability once yesterday, and even then, he had used it on his shelter. He still had no idea whether it would work on anything else.
If the ability turned out to be ineffective on other objects, touching a human would most likely produce no effect either.
But didn’t it also fail when I tried it for the third time yesterday? I have to try again!
Adrian placed his index finger on Darla’s forehead once more, startling the young woman.
“W-what are you doing?”
At the same time, the scars covering her cheeks concealed the blush spreading across her face.
[Legendary Touch failed. No transformation…]
What?! It failed twice?
One failure was understandable. But twice? Shouldn’t the conclusion be obvious by now?
Adrian had only one chance left. If he insisted on using it and it still failed, wouldn’t he have wasted his miraculous ability for nothing?
No! I can’t give up! This final attempt has to work!
Closing his eyes, Adrian steeled his resolve.
Please, let it work this time!
He extended his index finger toward Darla’s forehead once again, leaving the woman even more flustered as she struggled to understand what he was trying to do to her. Even so, she made no attempt to pull away, allowing Adrian’s finger to touch her forehead.
Bzzzz!
A faint electrical sensation immediately spread across Darla’s forehead. Warmth surged from the man’s fingertip, spreading across her face and throughout her head before flowing down to envelop her entire body.
At the same time, Adrian’s eyes lit up.
A golden light appeared on Darla’s forehead before slowly spreading to cover her entire face and body.
[Legendary Touch succeeded. Target has undergone a mysterious transformation…]
As the notification appeared before Adrian, the golden light enveloping Darla began to fade.
Yet with the remaining glimmers of light shimmering across her body, the woman looked like a fairy who had just descended from the heavens.
[Target possesses the mental ability to perceive beyond what is visible on the surface.]
“You…”
The next notification left Adrian staring at the woman without saying another word.
With such a mental ability, could this mean she was capable of discovering artifacts or valuable objects that others had overlooked?
If so, that was an incredibly valuable ability!
And that’s not all, Adrian thought, still visibly shocked. Could… could this woman also see a monster’s weaknesses?
There was a horde of Abominations waiting outside. If Darla’s ability was what he suspected, it could be the solution to their current predicament.
Meanwhile, being stared at so intensely only made Darla blush even more.
This foolish man… What exactly is he looking at?
Still unaware of what had happened to her, Darla couldn’t understand why Adrian kept staring at her. Yet for a woman who had lost much of her self-esteem because of what had happened to her face, the way Adrian looked at her filled her heart with warmth.
Darla remained confused until she accidentally caught sight of her reflection in the greenhouse’s glass wall.
With traces of light still lingering around her body, her reflection appeared clearer in the glass. She could vaguely make out someone different staring back at her.
“That…”
Darla immediately hurried toward the glass wall.
Staring intently at her reflection, her eyes widened before she raised her hands to touch her face, carefully feeling her own features.
“My face…”
She would have thought she was hallucinating if the smooth sensation beneath her fingertips hadn’t confirmed what her eyes were seeing.
“So this is real?”
Her long black hair fell softly down her back, gleaming with health. Her fair skin carried a rosy glow, making her look healthy and full of vitality. Most importantly, her face had returned to its former beauty, as though she had never suffered any injuries at all.
Not only that, but her overall appearance seemed even fresher and more radiant than she had been at the height of her beauty back in the old world.
In an instant, clear tears trickled from the corners of her eyes.
“For months, I’ve lived in shame, believing there was no future left for me. But now, in a way I never could have imagined, everything has changed.”
Turning around, she felt a strange wave of emotion surge through her chest as she looked at Adrian.
This foolish man was the one who did this.
He was the one who saved me.
It was only right that she thanked him.
“Adrian…”
Darla walked toward him slowly, her eyes still brimming with tears.
But before she could reach him, a loud noise suddenly rang out from outside.
Boom!

Chapter 29 - The Attack Plan Begins
“You do realize you've interrupted my morning, don't you? Arthur, you'd better not disappoint me.”“I would never do that, my lord.”The white-haired man bowed before presenting the holographic screen in his hands to Kaelen.“My lord, look! Of the ninety-nine shelters, only eighteen remain! That means the number of people opposing you has decreased significantly!”“Excellent!”A broad smile spread across Kaelen's face before he burst into laughter. As a lord, he could actually open his own screen and see what was happening for himself. But, of course, he was too lazy to do so.“With so many lords surrendering to me, wouldn't it be more appropriate to consider me a king rather than a mere lord?”That was what he thought.“Besides, why should I bother checking everything myself? That's their job! As my subordinates, they're the ones who should take care of it for me!”All he had to do was relax and enjoy himself while others handled everything. Just as they were doing for him that morni
Chapter 28 - The Fate of the Lords and Kaelen’s Delight
“So these will be exchanged for Bronze-tier soldiers? No problem. With them joining my forces, my army will only continue to grow.”After all the bear and Abomination corpses had been thrown into the altar, only the zombie corpses remained. Although they were the most numerous, they were also the lowest-tier monsters.Even so, the thought of a massive army of undead soldiers marching before him made Adrian’s heart race with excitement.“What? No soldiers are appearing?”His expression immediately changed when ten zombie corpses were thrown in, yet nothing emerged.Instead, the altar produced a hundred Attribute Stones. That meant he would receive ten Stones for every zombie corpse.“All right. It’s fine. At least I’m getting something out of this.”Although he couldn’t hide his disappointment, it wasn’t as though he had gained nothing. There were around three thousand zombie corpses, which meant he had now obtained thirty thousand Attribute Stones.“With reserves like these, I won’t h
Chapter 27 - Reaping the Rewards
“Your strategy was truly brilliant, my lord!”Yemima was helping several injured undead soldiers rest in a special room on the first floor. Around half of the army had sustained serious injuries. Although none of them were life-threatening, the soldiers still needed complete rest to recover.“We managed to kill so many monsters! We didn’t let a single one of them escape!”Drake spoke excitedly. Although his facial expression was difficult to read, consisting of nothing more than a skull, his voice was filled with joy.“I can hardly wait for the next Evernight!”Jaxon was quick to add his own comment. Both generals had also suffered serious injuries after fighting the Blood Bears. However, compared to the victory they had achieved, their injuries meant nothing.“Get some rest.”Adrian patted his generals on the shoulders, a broad smile spreading across his face.“You fought very well tonight. You deserve some rest.”A faint light appeared in the eastern sky. Sunrise was approaching.Al
Chapter 26 - Time for a Counterattack
“Yemima said the monsters’ withdrawal was deliberate preparation for Evernight, didn’t she? That means if we’ve encountered everything from zombies to bears, there’s a good chance those are the very monsters that will come after us, right?”An hour before Evernight began, Adrian had already devised a plan to lure as many monsters as possible toward his shelter. He hadn’t done so without making preparations.“Zombies and Abominations are still manageable. Those Blood Bears are the hardest ones to defeat.”His undead army would have no trouble holding back the zombies and Abominations. But as for the bears, only Yemima would likely be able to deal with them.“But with the turrets’ help, it shouldn’t be a problem either,” Darla said. “Even if the cannons can’t kill the bears, they should certainly be able to scare them away.”Darla was simply trying to be realistic. Killing a bear was extremely difficult. Scaring one away was already a considerable achievement. There was no need to kill
Chapter 25 - The Attack He Had Been Waiting For
Growl!Emerging from the mist, an Abomination appeared, wielding a hammer and a mace. It wasn't just one or two. A dozen of them emerged simultaneously.“Huh, trash! If all you can do is rely on your body to attack me, then you deserve to die!”Slash!Slash! The Northern General swung his arms in succession, his sword flashing through the air at incredible speed. With a single flurry of strikes, two Abominations collapsed to the ground, their bodies severed.Slash!Slash!Elsewhere, the Southern General did the same. Leaping into the air, he managed to cleave through two Abominations at once before immediately turning to attack another monster. At Gold tier, fighting these Silver-tier monsters posed no difficulty whatsoever.More Abominations continued to emerge. To deal with them, both generals moved with greater alertness and speed, covering their soldiers whenever necessary.Growl!Another growl, deeper and louder than before, echoed from within the mist.Rather than feeling afraid
Chapter 24 - The First Evernight
“The countdown begins.”The game system's voice echoed across the sky as the giant digital display showed 00:00:10.“Ten.”“Nine.”“Eight.”“Seven.”“Six.”Inside the room, Darla watched the computer screen and saw that the mist was now only a few hundred meters away from the outer perimeter. Given its speed, there was no way the countdown above them could be wrong. In just a few seconds, it would reach them.“Five.”“Four.”At the same time, Adrian stood in the second-floor lobby with his arms folded, his gaze fixed straight ahead. His expression was cold, and his eyes conveyed nothing but calm composure. The point in front of him marked the outer boundary of the region. And the fact that his greenhouse faced directly toward it seemed to suggest that the structure had been designed to confront the monsters that were about to arrive.“If a lord has truly been brought to this New World with the destiny of exterminating monsters, then so be it. I'll fight every last one of them.”“Three
