Roar!

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The Abominations roared loudly as they smashed through the fences, seemingly spurred on to cause even more destruction.

In less than a minute, the fences on the right side and at the back had completely collapsed. Four Abominations had even stepped onto the grass.

Staring at the glass shelter before them, they knew exactly what they wanted to destroy next.

Tap!

At that very moment, a black shadow seemed to descend from the sky as the Dark Knight appeared in front of the door. Looking ahead, his gaze swept across all the monsters.

“Just a horde of disgusting, lowly creatures! You dare come here? You’re signing your own death warrants!”

Whoosh!

He surged forward at incredible speed. In the blink of an eye, his body was already within two meters of the four Abominations.

Slash!

The sword in his hand swept diagonally from the lower right to the upper left. The movement was so fast that, apart from the sharp, slicing sound, the only thing that revealed its trajectory was the sword’s tip, which had started by pointing toward the ground but now faced the sky in the opposite direction.

And it had all happened in the blink of an eye.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

Moments later, copious amounts of red fluid burst from the upper bodies of the four Abominations before they fell to the ground one after another.

Tap!

Leaping high into the air, the Dark Knight landed in front of the remaining Abominations.

Slash!

Slash!

Slash!

His sword moved with incredible speed. With every swing, red fluid sprayed into the air, filling it with a pungent, bloody stench before another heavy thud followed.

“Not bad at all! This creature is far more capable than I expected!”

Inside the greenhouse, a broad smile appeared on Adrian’s lips.

At first, he had thought the Dark Knight would struggle a little to handle monsters at the peak of Silver tier.

His expectations had been far from reality. The knight’s strength was truly terrifying. He was someone he could genuinely rely on.

All it took was a single slash to bring down each opponent.

“Adrian, I see something inside that monster!”

Darla pointed toward the last Abomination, which had just collapsed to the ground after being struck down by the Dark Knight’s sword.

“I’m going out to check!”

Darla hurried forward, unable to contain her eagerness to loot the corpse.

Ever since Adrian had upgraded her ability, she had become not only more precise in determining the number of Stones inside a monster but also capable of seeing whether a particular monster possessed any particularly valuable loot.

“What is this?”

Darla cut open one of the Abomination’s faces with the knife in her hand. A golden light immediately radiated outward as a Stone emerged and floated before her.

“Adrian, look at this!”

Darla held out the Stone, which was about the size of both her fists, toward him.

“A golden stone?”

Although Adrian had seen the four main types of Stones that served as the “fuel” of the New World, he had never encountered one with this particular color.

“Alright. I’ll keep it for now.”

A Stone like this surely had some special use. He just needed to investigate it further.

While Adrian returned to the greenhouse, Darla collected the Attribute Stones from the gigantic corpses.

“We’ve got another ten thousand Attribute Stones! What kind of warrior are you going to summon this time?”

After transferring the Stones from her screen into Adrian’s system, Darla’s eyes lit up. Just like Adrian, she hadn’t expected his interface to possess the ability to summon such powerful warriors.

“We’re still five thousand Soul Stones short of summoning another warrior of the same tier as the Dark Knight. Even so, we can still buy warriors of a lower tier. Ten warriors fighting in coordination shouldn’t be a bad option either.”

He pressed the button, and white light radiated from the sacred altar before a portal opened.

Clank! Clank! Clank!

Before long, the sound of firm, synchronized footsteps echoed through the air as ten warriors clad in steel armor emerged from the portal.

“Our highest respects to Lord Galael! Thank you for summoning us! We swear to carry out your every command!”

They knelt on one knee before Adrian, their heads bowed.

Although their entire bodies were covered in iron armor, including their faces, Adrian could tell that they were all skeletons.

Are all the warriors I summon undead? he wondered.

“Rise! Join the Dark Knight and protect this shelter!”

“At your command, my lord!”

Clatter, clatter! Clatter, clatter!

The sound of marching footsteps echoed as the troops made their way out of the greenhouse.

Once they passed through the door, they spread out into various positions, preparing to defend the greenhouse against attacks from every direction.

“Dark Knight, come here.”

“Yes, my lord.”

“Do you have a name?”

Adrian wasn’t sure whether that was even a question he could ask an undead creature. However, judging by his elegant and imposing cloak, which resembled the kind worn by members of an ancient royal court, he suspected that he might have come from a fallen kingdom in the New World.

“Yes, my lord. They call me Yemima.”

Yemima? Adrian thought. So she’s a woman?

At a glance, it was impossible to tell whether the creature was male or female. Her build was sturdy, but not particularly characteristic of either sex. Her voice was also deep, as though it came straight from the depths of hell.

But the name she had given him couldn't possibly belong to a man, could it?

“Yemima, I want you to guard this shelter while I’m away. Don’t let anyone approach, without exception. You know what to do if someone tries to force their way in, don’t you?”

After two days in the New World, Adrian had come to understand one thing: this place was no friendlier than the old world. Nor was it equally dangerous. It was far more brutal and perilous.

He couldn’t allow anyone, without exception and regardless of their intentions, to approach his shelter while he was away.

“You have nothing to worry about, my lord. My sword will do the talking if they refuse to listen.”

“You do realize you've interrupted my morning, don't you? Arthur, you'd better not disappoint me.”“I would never do that, my lord.”The white-haired man bowed before presenting the holographic screen in his hands to Kaelen.“My lord, look! Of the ninety-nine shelters, only eighteen remain! That means the number of people opposing you has decreased significantly!”“Excellent!”A broad smile spread across Kaelen's face before he burst into laughter. As a lord, he could actually open his own screen and see what was happening for himself. But, of course, he was too lazy to do so.“With so many lords surrendering to me, wouldn't it be more appropriate to consider me a king rather than a mere lord?”That was what he thought.“Besides, why should I bother checking everything myself? That's their job! As my subordinates, they're the ones who should take care of it for me!”All he had to do was relax and enjoy himself while others handled everything. Just as they were doing for him that morni

“So these will be exchanged for Bronze-tier soldiers? No problem. With them joining my forces, my army will only continue to grow.”After all the bear and Abomination corpses had been thrown into the altar, only the zombie corpses remained. Although they were the most numerous, they were also the lowest-tier monsters.Even so, the thought of a massive army of undead soldiers marching before him made Adrian’s heart race with excitement.“What? No soldiers are appearing?”His expression immediately changed when ten zombie corpses were thrown in, yet nothing emerged.Instead, the altar produced a hundred Attribute Stones. That meant he would receive ten Stones for every zombie corpse.“All right. It’s fine. At least I’m getting something out of this.”Although he couldn’t hide his disappointment, it wasn’t as though he had gained nothing. There were around three thousand zombie corpses, which meant he had now obtained thirty thousand Attribute Stones.“With reserves like these, I won’t h

“Your strategy was truly brilliant, my lord!”Yemima was helping several injured undead soldiers rest in a special room on the first floor. Around half of the army had sustained serious injuries. Although none of them were life-threatening, the soldiers still needed complete rest to recover.“We managed to kill so many monsters! We didn’t let a single one of them escape!”Drake spoke excitedly. Although his facial expression was difficult to read, consisting of nothing more than a skull, his voice was filled with joy.“I can hardly wait for the next Evernight!”Jaxon was quick to add his own comment. Both generals had also suffered serious injuries after fighting the Blood Bears. However, compared to the victory they had achieved, their injuries meant nothing.“Get some rest.”Adrian patted his generals on the shoulders, a broad smile spreading across his face.“You fought very well tonight. You deserve some rest.”A faint light appeared in the eastern sky. Sunrise was approaching.Al

“Yemima said the monsters’ withdrawal was deliberate preparation for Evernight, didn’t she? That means if we’ve encountered everything from zombies to bears, there’s a good chance those are the very monsters that will come after us, right?”An hour before Evernight began, Adrian had already devised a plan to lure as many monsters as possible toward his shelter. He hadn’t done so without making preparations.“Zombies and Abominations are still manageable. Those Blood Bears are the hardest ones to defeat.”His undead army would have no trouble holding back the zombies and Abominations. But as for the bears, only Yemima would likely be able to deal with them.“But with the turrets’ help, it shouldn’t be a problem either,” Darla said. “Even if the cannons can’t kill the bears, they should certainly be able to scare them away.”Darla was simply trying to be realistic. Killing a bear was extremely difficult. Scaring one away was already a considerable achievement. There was no need to kill

Growl!Emerging from the mist, an Abomination appeared, wielding a hammer and a mace. It wasn't just one or two. A dozen of them emerged simultaneously.“Huh, trash! If all you can do is rely on your body to attack me, then you deserve to die!”Slash!Slash! The Northern General swung his arms in succession, his sword flashing through the air at incredible speed. With a single flurry of strikes, two Abominations collapsed to the ground, their bodies severed.Slash!Slash!Elsewhere, the Southern General did the same. Leaping into the air, he managed to cleave through two Abominations at once before immediately turning to attack another monster. At Gold tier, fighting these Silver-tier monsters posed no difficulty whatsoever.More Abominations continued to emerge. To deal with them, both generals moved with greater alertness and speed, covering their soldiers whenever necessary.Growl!Another growl, deeper and louder than before, echoed from within the mist.Rather than feeling afraid

“The countdown begins.”The game system's voice echoed across the sky as the giant digital display showed 00:00:10.“Ten.”“Nine.”“Eight.”“Seven.”“Six.”Inside the room, Darla watched the computer screen and saw that the mist was now only a few hundred meters away from the outer perimeter. Given its speed, there was no way the countdown above them could be wrong. In just a few seconds, it would reach them.“Five.”“Four.”At the same time, Adrian stood in the second-floor lobby with his arms folded, his gaze fixed straight ahead. His expression was cold, and his eyes conveyed nothing but calm composure. The point in front of him marked the outer boundary of the region. And the fact that his greenhouse faced directly toward it seemed to suggest that the structure had been designed to confront the monsters that were about to arrive.“If a lord has truly been brought to this New World with the destiny of exterminating monsters, then so be it. I'll fight every last one of them.”“Three
