Chapter 7 : the time keeper

Meeting such an extraordinarily beautiful fairy right in front of me made me realize what a rare opportunity it was to encounter a character straight from the comic book I wrote.

Since she was asking for assistance, I immediately reached out my hand, and she accepted it without hesitation.

I could feel the softness of her hands in my palm as I helped her stand up.

Once she was back on her feet, she immediately thanked me with the most stunning smile.

"Thank you very much, little creature," she said.

Right at that moment, a holographic system display popped up. Hovering just above her head were her gratitude level and love meter.

Her gratitude level increased by one point.

"One Gratitude point acquired."

I wasn't sure if that was a good thing or not, but it seemed I gained gratitude points simply for helping her out.

Wait, did she just call me a little creature? I thought to myself.

I had no idea why she called me that—was it because I looked small to her, or simply because I was a human?

Or perhaps because she belonged to a higher race of beings? Oh well, who cared? She seemed like a kind and respectful fairy toward a human like me.

Aside from her sweet voice, she also seemed to possess a pure heart, given her polite speech and her desire to reward me for my help.

"I don't have enough means right now, but someday I will reward you for the kindness you've shown me."

What she said felt so strange to me; lending a hand to help someone stand up felt like such a trivial thing to deserve a reward. But I figured she had different customs and beliefs wherever she came from.

After that, the young woman suddenly asked if I was there to join Eskapa like everyone else in the area.

"No, you're mistaken, miss. I didn't come here to join Eskapa," I quickly replied.

She had assumed I was interested in joining, so I immediately clarified that I had no intention of becoming a member—especially since only those with sufficient skill and strength dared to fight.

"I heard they are brave soldiers who save lives," I remarked.

The woman agreed, explaining that Eskapa consisted of warriors of the heavens and was Endoryo's final hope against abusive beings.

"They were gathered and blessed by the heavens with the ability to defend the world from tragedies and destruction caused by the greedy creatures of Endoryo."

Like many others, she believed that Eskapa's presence as saviors served as a beacon of hope, guiding everyone toward safety in this dark world.

As I watched her, I genuinely admired her conviction because I could sense how deeply she trusted that the god of Eskapa would protect them.

Even so, a part of me wondered if her dedication to saving and helping others as an Eskapa ally came from the heart, or if she was just like the others who joined merely to gain the privileges of being an Eskapa soldier.

Not wanting our conversation about Eskapa to drag on, I abruptly walked away from the spot—not because I didn't want to talk to her, but because someone with knowledge of this world found it hard to trust someone like her.

Or maybe I'm judging her too harshly, and besides, what do I care about that? I shouldn't be thinking about such things since I have nothing to do with them.

I quickly made my way straight to the tower's massive gates, stepping outside to distance myself from the crowd.

Right—I had no connection to them, and I wanted to keep it that way.

They were servants of god, ready to lay down their lives for a sworn duty as heroes.

I fell deep in thought, looking up at the sky while pondering the fate of those people who faithfully clung to Eskapa's promises.

But what if they found out that even the heavens don't care about what happens to them?

I let out a sigh, realizing how pointless it was to overcomplicate things.

I just wandered until I reached the edge of the plaza and surveyed the surroundings.

From where I stood, I had a clear view of the city's buildings and houses, and I couldn't help wondering what my next move should be.

"Now that I'm here, I honestly have no idea what to do," I muttered, letting out another sigh.

I turned around and leaned against the Agata Tower, marveling at how impossibly massive it looked even from the outside.

This world was full of wonders, a stark contrast to the ordinary world I was used to.

"I suppose I'll just look around while I search for that crazy person."

I continued walking in a circle around the tower, staying close enough so I wouldn't get lost in a town I wasn't familiar with.

The tower grounds were vast, and a short distance away were markets operating right outside its gates.

After a few hours of walking, I grew tired of wandering and headed back to the tower.

Since there wasn't much to do inside, I decided to sit on the outdoor staircase.

Searching this place was exhausting, and the hardest part was not even knowing if my target was actually around here.

"I've got no one to rely on but myself."

Worn out from all the walking, I wanted to relax, so I impulsively lay down flat on the ground.

It was a bit awkward, but thankfully, no one was passing by my spot.

The situation left me feeling drained, especially with hunger kicking in and not a single coin in my pocket to buy food.

I had only been in this place for a few hours, yet I already missed Earth, even if my life there had been a bit boring.

" Right, I'd rather be stuck in the middle of a traffic jam than trapped in this place that crazy angel dragged me to.'

I sighed, staring up at the sky and watching the passing clouds. The bizarre events I was currently experiencing suddenly crossed my mind.

I still couldn't believe everything that had happened; in just a single blink, my life had completely changed.

I never expected that these hands could do anything other than what they usually did, let alone create an entire world.

The afternoon was so peaceful, feeling like any normal day where you could just rest, just like I was doing now. This world had no idea about the reality of its own existence.

Despite the underlying anxiety, I couldn't help feeling a sense of excitement over what was unfolding.

Naturally, as the mangaka who created this world, I couldn't help but be thrilled by everything around me.

"No, Nathaniel, you shouldn't feel happy, I scolded myself. If you let yourself get excited, you're practically accepting what that crazy angel did to you."

A moment later, while resting, I didn't notice someone approaching. A shadow fell over me, blocking out the light.Slowly, I opened my eyes and caught sight of a figure sitting and looking down at me.

"Huh?"

Startled, I immediately sat up from the floor.

It was an extraordinarily beautiful woman with fair skin and radiant blonde hair.

She wore the standard uniform of an ordinary Eskapa soldier. Being the creator of this world, I instantly recognized who was standing right in front of me.

"Wait... could it be..."

I couldn't be mistaken—she was one of the Weapons of God, an Eskapa commander, and the queen of the Kingdom of serania.

"Aren't you Sei, the Timekeeper?"

My heart pounded furiously, not just because of the sheer beauty of the woman standing before me, but out of pure awe.

It felt impossible, yet I was face-to-face with one of the main characters from my own comic book.

"Wow."

Sei was known as one of the strongest beings in Endoryo due to her ability to control and manipulate time around her.

Not only that, she wasn't just a divine weapon; she was considered an angel of god because of her supreme beauty and benevolent nature.

"Are you really Sei? One of the Eskapa commanders and the sixth Weapon of God?" I blurted out.

Instead of answering, she just kept staring at me with a curious, slightly baffled expression.

I had no idea what she was thinking, but she had that distinct, quiet demeanor whenever she looked intently at someone.

Since she wasn't much of a talker, I became even more certain she was the real Sei. While I remained seated, she reached into the bag she was carrying and pulled something out.

A moment later, she handed me a piece of bread, as if silently commanding me to eat it.

"Um..."

"Wait, are you giving this bread to me?" I asked.

I didn't know what to make of her actions; I hadn't asked for food, yet she offered it as if she somehow knew I was starving.

Is it just me, or is handing out food to strangers a normal thing in this world?

Wait, do I still look presentable?

Do I really look like I'm starving?

Yet, as the rich aroma of the bread hit my nose, my stomach let out a loud rumble. I had to admit—I was starving, and her timing couldn't have been more perfect.

"Even so, doesn't something feel wrong? Won't I look like a beggar if I accept this? I'll look like a pauper begging from Sei."

I quickly stopped myself from grabbing the bread she was offering.

I still had a shred of pride left, so I needed to calm myself down. I refused to degrade myself just because I was hungry—especially not in front of a gorgeous woman like Sei.

"I can't look pathetic in front of someone like her. "

Despite my reservations, however, my stomach had other plans, continuing to growl loudly.

Growl.

Hearing that, Sei suddenly took my hand and gently pressed the bread into it.

Her hands were as soft as the bread itself, and honestly, how could I refuse when a part of me didn't want her to let go of my hand?

Her breathtaking beauty made it easy to believe the rumors that she was a true angel walking the earth.

She stood up and smiled down at me, offering some parting words.

"Stay strong, traveler, and strive to live with faith so that our god may watch over and bless you," she gently said.

I was completely speechless. I just sat there like an idiot, staring at her while feeling my chest thump wildly from the nervousness of being captivated by Sei.

My eyes stayed glued to her until she turned away and walked back to the waiting Eskapa soldiers. All I could think was how extraordinary her beauty was in person—and as a mangaka, I felt immensely proud.
