"I knew it! I had my suspicions!" Alex exclaimed, frustration evident in his voice. He clenched his fists, his mind racing with a mixture of anger and vindication.

Layla's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "You knew?" she questioned, incredulous.

"Yeah," Alex admitted, his tone somber. "We had some trouble months back, and all directions were leading to her, but we were unable to find any evidence."

Layla's expression softened as she processed the revelation. "And you're just telling me this now?" she asked, a hint of reproach in her voice.
